In order to master bo staff you must reach high speed, this is the quickest Bo Staff spin I know and that I use, make sure to start slowly not to hurt yourself and follow the instructions that are within the video.

For someone who had nothing to do during summer, this is a great and cool thing to learn. Once I figured out what part in the spinning that I was missing, it got incredibly easier. Wonderful job! 👌🏻👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Wow, that was really helpful! I've seen like 4 videos on this spin, and this is the first time I could get it- and that, in about 5 minutes! Your explanation is excellent, clear and intelligent. I had thought that it's just like an overhand figure-8 but it's not at all: if you compare the two hand positions- let's say using your right hand- on the left side, they are completely different- with this one the bo is between the thumb and forefinger as the hand points back, palm down, but the bo comes underneath the arm with the hand cocked backwards- allowing for the extra spin. Hard to put into words, but anyway, it will be clear what I mean once you get the movement from the video. Thanks!!!
@itinerantpoet1341
@itinerantpoet1341 Год назад
Bravo! There's a reason Shaolin is famous, and this Northern Shaolin "flower" is just one of them. There are actually 6 strikes with this spin, the final one where the staff is braced under the armpit is the strongest. You want to practice doing it at an even speed so that eventually you can hear the whooshing uninterrupted though all six strikes. Practice this technique obsessively. Note: I can't be said enough that the power for this movement comes from the waist, not the arms or hands. The main use is to knock opponent's weapons off-line to set up strikes, throws, or lever disarms.

Dear @tamir can we do this with non-dominant hand? I tried and learned the dominant hand and you have truly said, this increases agility and allows fluidic spin with the staf's natural momentum. Your guidance is deeply appriciated.

@TheFxEditor 8 лет назад
+DoubleTapShooter I agree too. I like to hear his opinion on these training tools.
@TamirNahor
@TamirNahor 8 лет назад
+DoubleTapShooter I used to train with weight bracelets, tried twice the wooden dummy back in china and the poles many times over. about the weights - not recommending, there are plenty other tools that will have less side effects that are better than these bracelets. about the dummies - not bad for wing chun practitioners but for me I find heavy bags and thai pads way more efficient and usefull for training. about the poles - best thing ever! just don't fall down it hurts!
@DoubleTapShooter
@DoubleTapShooter 8 лет назад
Oh really. Ok thats for the insight. I am building a place to train and was debating what to put into it. I will be sure to add the poles now. Thanks again.
