I'm a historian. It is always interesting to see canals/locks in use. Few people realize just how much canals like this one changed. Entire cities grew up because of it and would have otherwise remained small towns. The wealth of the New York region is a knock-on effect. Chicago boomed. And still ... the image of pleasant people like yourselves now using the canal for what looks like an intensely relaxing vacation makes me chuckle. If only those thousands of men who toiled away at the canal for decades could see it now, I suspect their minds would explode. "You want to come here for a vacation?" they would most definitely ask. :)
what a great adventure you were on!. And to do it at such a young age! It shows strength, Intelligence, and Audacious behaviour to follow your dreams! I hope you are able to continue on this path for a very long time. Well done young man, well done!
By the end of this trip you'll be a professional locksmith. =) I've been bingeing your videos all weekend. Lovin them. Wish I could have lived this life back when the earth was young and I was your age. Unforunately some [censored] [censored] convinced me to waste my money on 8 years of college instead. ;-) Say hi to Bella for me.

Love your channel, and your dad should b proud he raised such a smart, respectful, curious traveling young man
Hey Mark! This season they did not charge a fee to use the canal. In past years it has been a flat fee for the entire canal. Not much, if I remember correctly it used to be around $80 for a season pass, unlimited locking.
