It gives tear to my eyes every time I dive into.Dylans masterpieces. I love you Bob Dylam from thousands of miles away from you from a country you once sang for in 1971 at MSG. Love from Bangladesh.
He has always been an artist that makes songs that make people think. All the greatist hits really paint pictures in your head as you listen. His voice has gone these days, but I still think he can still sing. He is making some great music these days.
Bob, I loved U from the 1960's, 0h, what a 'gift' from God U are. I loved U in the 1970's, 1980's, 1990's all the way up til now, 2013... U cannot stop mesmerising me. It is not possible..Oh how I love to hear you sing. Your voice is victorious! I have loved watching U grow right before my eyes, and here u are at 72 !! and still the 'touched' man U have always been to me. Dylan is a household 'word' in my home, passed down to my children. Countless times we have sang your songs together as a family, with friends, and I especially love to sing U myself. What joy U have brought into my heart...I truly love U.. Kelti, OKC
Bob, I have seen many of your concerts in my day and it is my dying wish to see you standing at my front door...I will never forget Ft. Collins, you leaned down and just smiled straight at me. haaaaaaa....
When Bob Dylan started performing I don't really think he'd be honoured like this. He doesn't play to be honoured. He plays to play. And that's what music is all about.
If I ever was to get on a stage and in front of a podium to say or give a speech about Bob Dylan's career and his talent, it would be very, very brief. Just a simple "Wow". Anybody that knows anything about music, poetry and art would completely understand.
this is the highest honor any music artist could ever receive this was in 1997 , bob dylan is the greatest song writer of the 20th century , brain wilson might be 2nd or maybe lennon or mccartney or perhaps jimmy page
Dylan's great contribution to rock/pop was that lyrically he opened up the subject matter. Pre-Dylan, pop songs only dealt with pubescent love or sometimes they'd really go way out there & sing about cars. Post-Dylan, anything & everything was up for grabs.
I'm still jealous of suze rotolo...lol! Dylan trying to salute Gregory peck in such a cute and humble way is why I love him so much. fyi... there are some ultra-cool bob Dylan shirts at etsy
well deserved award and more. Bob has been the voice of our collective conscience. He's the ruler of this planet...:-) Yeah, he's modest and does get embarrased !
You're right but I said pop songs, not folk songs. Dylan was the first artist to take a folk sensibility (i.e. protest songs, social issues, politics) & crossover successfully with it to rock/pop.
He never liked to be famous. And he didn't know this when he was young. Yes, his words are poetry and his music is straight and goes deep in our hearts. Everybody knows him. If he just wanted to get famous, he never would have wrote this songs. But it's his fault. You can't expect to be famous and nobody knows you. It's a kind of tragedy. Dylan fought a lot with thtat. But the gift, that he gave us, he cannot undo. Sorry, Bob.
I feel so sorry for him.. Imagen 1000 people standing and applauding for you and knowing that a billion people see you as some kind of messiah, while all you've ever done is fulfilling your passion. It is too much for a man to bare, i completely understand his awkwardness here
Right when the video tribute ends, and you see a long shot of him in the balcony, doesn't it look as if he's whiping away tears? I think he was very moved. Uncomfortable, but moved.
@werobanks You've never seen the Kennedy Center Honors before? What's hanging around his neck is the special award that he received from the President. All the honorees wear them.
So fortunate to see him last year at the Saenger in New Orleans last year. Always, a lightening rod of creativity to provoke thought and enjoy this small time allotted to us in this realm.
Very powerful, thanks much. It brought tears to my eyes 4 so many reasons, cause: I have always loved Dylan's music and Brownsville Girl is one of my faves, Gregory Peck is gone, Dylan with the Clintons, Sam Waterson in the crowd, etc. It makes it all to clear that in the age of Bush none of that Clinton era enlightenment is here.
1st tune is "Man in the long Black Coat" from his 1989 album Oh Mercy. 2nd piece with the blusey harmonica i'm not too sure about. It might not even be him.
Bob Dylan is more nonchalant than anybody and he looks as if he probably did not want to be there and could be doing something else! LOL Bob we love you so much, you deserve all these awards and honors, whether you like it or not we're going to keep on showing you how much we love you and your just going to have to deal with it dammit LMAO. :)
there's even a bob Dylan light switch cover...it looks pretty damn good actually.....and there's 'record bowl'.......it's an old vinyl Dylan record turned into a salsa bowl.....lol! They got some crazy cool stuff on that site. And yes I agree with you......totally jealous of that sara chick....lol. Have you heard the joan baez cover?
It's funny how it's so obvious who he respects... this is exactly the kind of thing that makes him cringe, but clearly he respects Gregory Peck, so he's putting up with it.
Dylan's discomfiture is linked to his innate shyness, which goes back to his incredulity at landing on this planet. Sometimes the shyness is mistaken for aloofness or even snobbery (Groom's Still Waiting at the Altar). Here (looking down from above and therefore choosing to look up!) he can't get out of it and takes the medicine.
