Bodies, Smashing Pumpkins & Chino Moreno (Lead Singer of Deftones), PNC Bank Arts Center Holmdel, New Jersey; August 2nd, 2018; Shiny and Oh So Bright Reunion Tour; Special 30th Anniversary Show
Be Quiet and Drive instantly comes to mind as being inspired by SP composition (to me anyway). actually, the first time i heard the intro riff, i thought it was SP. this was just as Around The Fur was released so i didn't have the album. I was not yet a big Deftones fan but i did have Adrenaline on a cassette that a cute girl in my art class made for me way back in 1995.
@@kristopherryanwatson 100%! I have always loved both Deftones and SP and always thought they had some similarities even though they sort of fit in different categories of rock/metal. I just could never really put my finger on it.
this is one of my absolute fav songs by my fav band ever and i may actually like chino (from one of my top 5 fav bands) singing on it more than the billy version
I wouldn't mind an entire set of Chino singing the Pumpkins. Not hating on Billy or his voice, but holy crap, talk about a match made in heaven. He's even nailing Billy's phrasing and tiny nuances!
@rippindrummer666 I've seen deftones around 10 times since OzzFest 1999 and only saw 1 (maybe 2) bad shows. And that was because the set list was full of new stuff. He's always delivered performance wise.

LiveOrDie lol you’re so angry. I was 14 in 1996 and saw them at MSG. The first concert had been postponed when the keyboardist, Jonathan Melvoin, passed away from a drug overdose.
This is just mezmerizing! I always thought Deftones style was very much influenced by the Pumpkins. This performance is proof. This could easily be a Deftones song.
They literally formed bands the same year. You could just as easily say Deftones influenced the Pumpkins... this performance isn't proof of anything besides mutual respect. Don't shit on Deftones like that.
@BucketsAMF smashing pumpkins released Siamese Dream in 1992 and were huge before deftones released Adrenaline in 1995 and was Nu Metal. Mellon Collie was released that same year, and deftones sound started to shift in the late 90s and early 00s. SP definitely had some influence on them, don’t know how that’s a knock. Two of the best bands of the last 30 years.
@@bucketsaremyfriend Chino himself has said he learned to play guitar and sing simultaneously by practicing Pumpkins songs circa white pony/team sleep era
Say what u want about billy and SP can't deny he's a awesome song writer and musician and the fact he aknowledges Chino and the Deftones realizing their on a whole different level. And coming from Billy says a lot.
I've always thought for many, many years that Chino and Billy had similar vocals. And here it is, them performing on the same stage at the same time. Awesome!🤘😎🤘
My top 3 all time favorite bands in order since the mid "90s. 1. Deftones 2. Smashing Pumpkins 3. In Flames Imagine my utter and complete shock when I first heard this.🤯🤘🏾
@@Andy_Paris I was a huge fan of Gish, Siamese Dream, and Mellon Collie but I'm ngl I kind of shit out on them after. I don't even remember much of Adore.
Wooooooowww!! I had no idea this existed but this just sounds like it was meant to be. And love the tag teaming the "nobody's...." part. Freaking absolute delight, all of it.
You have a much better video than me. Went to the MSG show and got tickets in the 8th row for this show the next night. Totally worth it. Love Deftones and the Pumpkins
I love how into the riff Billy is… depsite his new music release so far gone from this era it makes me smile to see him totally into this 30 yr old riff having a blast
I always could hear Billy corgan's voice as an influence on chino's voice and I could also hear Smashing Pumpkins music as an influence on the Deftones in general
