A body has been found in the search for TV doctor and columnist Michael Mosley, who went missing on a Greek island.
The body was discovered in a rocky area beside Agia Marina on Symi on Sunday after an extensive search operation led by emergency workers.
The 67-year-old TV personality was last seen by friends at the Agios Nikolaos beach on Wednesday, before going for a walk.
The search effort has been widespread and has included firefighters, dogs, helicopters, drones, local people and officers from Symi and outside the island.
Dr Mosley, known for popularising the 5:2 diet and for his appearances on The One Show and This Morning, was on holiday when he vanished.

Oh poor michael and poor family. If he had got lost he might have got disorientated due to dehydration / heat stroke and maybe wasnt thinking clearly enough to find safety.

From the position of the body and umbrella, they presumed he fainted. Decomposition was advanced so most likely died fairly soon after this, most likely cause - heat stroke/dehydration. Fiercely hot day exaggerated by the heat and glare from the rocks.

Took my Mom to Symi in 2002 for an afternoon, lovely bakeries and people. How he died needs to be properly investigated, seems like he may have suddenly dehydrated and lost his judgement and then died.

I don’t believe any foul play was at hand, it was 37C, his wife Clare has made a statement saying he was naturally adventurous which made Michael, Michael, but unfortunately it looks like he’d become lost, & at the worst time of day with likely no water, he may have collapsed 😔 So tragically sad.

I was surprised how much coverage it got. The guy was a legend, but to be on a Greek island on hols to suddenly go missing and quiet literally making front page news.. it's not like we can all go look for him!! And then ( if it is him..) that guy they just found a few feet away.. it feels like a hit.

His personality was that of a risk taker, he promoted an extreme fasting diet, which many health professionals disagreed with, he had multiple career's, he allowed himself to be used for television medical experiments, so to walk up a hill in scorching heat while possibly fasting was in line with that. I am not having a go at the guy, just stating facts. Intelligent people often take risks in round about ways, his risk taking brought him success but cost him his life.

Michael, unbelieveable. I wish he could have been warned beforehand, or helped immediately. He was a good guy to have around in this world. I understand a waiter nearby grabbed a tarp to cover him when he was found - I'm glad there was a good person to find him.

Condolences to all of Michael’s family at this terribly tragic time. I’ve followed the story closely in the hope there’d be a positive outcome.. perhaps he’d taken shelter somewhere.. no matter how little that hope was, I really hoped for the best for all of them. He went for a stroll at the worst time of day, in 37+C heat, & I fear he may not have had water with him. Such a terribly sad & tragic end. Love & blessings to all the family & many thanks to all who searched relentlessly for Michael over the last 3-4 days x

Such sad news about a man a doctor who did so much to educate us on good health and eating, I tried his 5-2 plan years ago, it helped me, I still do it once a week, so many owe him a lot of gratitude for his work, my thoughts are with his family, RIP.

Really. I never watched him. I did not take the medical intervention but certainly became depressed because I was ostracised. The hurt from people I thought were intelligent. However, seems the slings and arrows were worth it after all.

They suspect he's fallen about 10 metres from a cliff. He might've been rendered inconscient by the fall and died there, or died because he bumped his head; we'll probably never know for sure.

A quite younger rescue worker also fell around there while looking for him and had to be brought back on a stretcher, which proves the ground is very treacherous, full of rocks and very uneven.

Nothing surprising for a body to be badly decomposed after four days in the searing heat and direct sun. As for the water, the mayor indeed said he had none, but his wife said he had some. So, who knows what to believe!

I am sorry but this sounds suspicious, surely a doctor wouldn’t knowingly walk in these conditions knowing he was feeling ill, especially alone? A doctor would know everything about heat illness and wouldn’t expose themself to this.
