@@ItsAndie Watching his character develop over the span of the series was an entire show all on its own. Everything else was just a bonus. Phenomenal actor and now I wanna watch it again ffs lol.
He’s not only face acting, but making his voice a higher pitch, and speaking in an American Southern accent when his real accent is British. He’s so good. The rest of the cast is great but he’s the best actor in the entire show imo. Perfect person to be the frontman of the show, or at least until Season 9 he was.
Ehh there's not really much to talk about we've seen those exaples on the Channel already i think. There are so much more better scenes to break down into body language imo *Yes. . Sorry for the broken english
Punching someone in the head is a response from the limbic system in order to release stress. You can see how her dreadlocks sway to the right that she feels confident in this moment.
That moment where, even as tense as things are, someone suggests something that you find so ludicrous you can't help but laugh at how genuinely stupid you find them in that moment. That's what I think happens here...the fact that she thinks he is the bad guy is so absurd to Rick because he can't see how his actions might be wrong in any way. To him, it might be blunt and brutal but it's needed to snap them awake. To them, he just went psycho.
@Ben G I agree. I feel this guy in the video actually hasn't watched the whole show to this point. He just watchs clips uploaded on RU-vid and makes his assessments without having context with what is going on in the story.
Rick never became Shane. Surface level they seem alike. But they couldn't bu further apart. Rick trouly lost his cool in this scene. But he did so out of a genuine care for others than himself. Unlike Shane who would have done it because of his wants and needs. Rick was protecting. Shane would have been only out for his own wants here. The characters only seem similar at surface level. A shallow observation. No offense.
@@MonkeyPowerkey shane did care for others but i think his obsessionwith lori got the best of him and even when he tried to leave lori kept trying to convince him to stay thats personally why i blame lori for how he turnt out
@@progamingsquad2776 You ever heard about how something can bring out the best or the worst in someone? That's the case for Shane. Lori brought the worst in him. But no matter what she did, that was still his choice. Lori was a manipulative bitch for sure. But Shane had every chance not to become who he became. And Shane's caring for others is a selfish caring. He cares about Lori because he feels like she belongs to him. And Carl is part of the deal. Rick on the other hand is willing to fight and die for those he loves even if there's nothing in it for him. Shane wouldn't die for Lori. Shane would make everyone else die for her. It's a selfish love vs a genuine love. Rick isn't selfish. Shane was. They are complete oposites. Unless you are his property, he doesn't care what happens to you. That's why he intended to kill Rick. So he could lead the group. So he could have Lori. Rick didn't kill Shane so he could have Lori and he could lead the group. Rick killed Shane to protect Lori and protect the group. It was his best friend. He didn't want to. Shane planed to. They couldn't be further apart from each other.
All these videos have shown how fantastic of an actor Andrew Lincoln is and how he was a fantastic choice for the main character and carried the show even among other great actors.
Id just like to say that when rick laughed after he said "You mean me?" I feel like thats also more of a tactic to intimidate someone and it shows that you aren't scared by their statements or actions, especially with showing your teeth. We're still animals, and any showing of teeth that isnt inherently friendly can be perceived as intimidating. I also believe this because of the way that after he had shown his teeth, and laughed, he leaned in, closing the gap between himself and the group slightly. He wanted to be intimidating because his open gestures and talk of ways not working wasn't working itself. And like most people, if persuasion doesnt work, we tend to switch to more aggressive forms of persuasion.
No actually in primates open body language combine with showing teeth is almost always what's termed the "threat response": it's how primates show they're not a threat. It was very much him being simultaneously wounded and exasperated by the suggestion.
@@easypete5825 Wrong. It’s very very ducking threatening. One lady did it to a gorilla to much and he got out of his cage and beat the shit out of her.
TWD truly is a goldmine when it comes to clips to analyse :) Your video's are great, they've been very interesting so far! It's a great way to learn a bit more about how humans work and WHY we display some rather strange behavior in intense or stressful situations.
Another top notch analysis Enigma! Can't wait for the governor/rick meetijg at the table in episode "arrow on the door post" season 3 or when Rick finds out Lori died in "killer within" season 3. Those 2 will be AMAZING breakdowns. I find myself rewatching your older walking dead breakdowns more and more and shown a few people. We ALL look forward to these walking dead break downs. As soon as I get the notification for new walking dead analysis, it doesn't matter where I am, I'm watching! THANK YOU SO MUCH cant wait for the next!🖤🖤🖤
For a more "rhyming" system, I always remembered it as: Fight, Freight, or Flight. Freight is not only most common, but it will ALWAYS happen. With training and exposure the actual Fight or Flight decision will come sooner and sooner, but everybody freezes for a certain time. I think they called it that 'cause unless the threat kills you or goes away, you always have to come to a decision and the Freight phase is just leading to either one.
Love your breakdown of Walking dead it adds another dimension to characters for example I watched your breakdown of Rick vs Shane and initially I thought Shane finally lost it and wanted to kill Rick out of jelousy and used the group as an excuse but your analysis proved Shane did care about Rick and was conflicted rather than cowardly as I assumed that added to his character
"Notice how Everybodys staring directly at rick,When we feel threatened..." I would too if there was a guy with blood on his face Swinging a gun around looool
Greay video as always man keep up the good work. Also could you do these scenes as well: 1. The "nebraska" scene with rick glen hershell and the 2 strangers. 2. The scene where alaxandria are voting to get rid of rick (its a scene or two afyer this one). 3. The scene where negan make rick cut off carls arm.?
If you're receiving criticisms from some commenters of your videos for not adding enough bomb shells, or whatever. Please don't worry about it. Your analysis of non verbal communication in the context of this show has been tremendously useful to me, and fascinating. I'm interested in primal subconscious human behaviors, and you pointed out a great many things that I did not pick up on. Thank you for making these videos, i'm enjoying them immensely.
People are saying the body language is obvious in your videos. I bet they don't think about body language when watching shows. I love the way you point it out because it makes me look at shows differently
The actors of the walking dead from season one including the non main actors are underrated and deserve much much more recognition because the acting in this show has always been 110%,and have never let me down in terms of acting
Shane : if y’all wanna live, if y’all wanna survive…you gotta fight for it I’m talking bout FIGHT right here right NOW! Rick: If you don’t fight you die. What a great parallel
I think your videos are great. You depict how well the acting is by accurately addressing key moments of realistic body language in these moments. Thats what captivates the audience... the actors. Good job.
He scans his eyes around the group and looks at the floor, indicating that he doesn't feel threatened. Perhaps he doesn't feel threatened because he knows he's surrounded by actors, and that this isn't actually happening...
Funny, Andrew Lincoln briefly "forget" his american accent and switch to brits for a line or 2 shortly after Deanne suggested that he should leave...but he switch back to american so quick I did'nt even noticed it first time I watched so still wonderfull acting.
Please don’t let people in the comments stop you from doing these videos. I always like watching these and seeing these scenes being explained. Great job!😎👍
This is not in fact a scene of rick being dominant. While his gestures are open with his arms, he keeps his upper arms tucked into his body. As if to make himself physically smaller. The gesturing is instead a distancing behavior. Its saying "you will hear what I have to say because I'm not gonna let you stop me!" The implication being they're not listening and would try and stop him. Which is exactly what michonne proved moments later. Hes so stuck in the threat response though, while struggling either *for* dominance or to be heard, that he loses awareness of what's going on behind him. Classic tunnel vision. This is a scene of a man who's exasperated and at the end of his rope. This isnt dominance, it's actually desperation. A cry for help. You can even hear it in his end goal. He doesnt so much feel threatened as hes *terrified* for what will happen to everyone around him if someone doesnt start making better leadership decisions. He feels out of control and powerless, hence staying physically on the ground: he feels like if he stands he'll get bum rushed instead of them listening. And to emphasis this singular goal, he bookends every single statement bu punctuating it with him waving the gun at the people hes talking to. The ground glance is either him thinking about how they view the beating of the guy, or exasperation from being momentarily at a loss for words. In other words he shocked even himself by what he did. Which is why I say this is a scene of desperation and not dominance.
I know this video has nothing to do with Negan, but.. Negan has such GOOD acting. Such good acting, that he was literally in a dream last night where he promised he'd tie me up and drag me behind a truck going 60 mph down a rocky road. Luckily realized I was dreaming and turned him into a dolphin because fuck that noise, but terrifying.
I'm loving these videos where you cover the best of Rick from The Walking Dead. Andrew Lincoln did such an Amazing job in this role. This will no doubt be the role that defines his career. Trough out his 9 seasons on the show he showed genuine range. He can handle it all. Now i haven't seen too much of him outside of The Walking Dead. So this might be a one trick pony. But within that one trick he is very multi dimentional. At no point is his character shallow. Since Season 2 he was the highlight of the show. The second he shot Sophia is when he started down the path to become one of the most interesting characters in TV for me. And when he killed Shane... That's when Rick was trouly born. And who can forget the whole idea of the ''Ricktatorship''. I love that idea. So can't wait to see the movies. I just hope they know how to utalise him in the different formate a film will bring.
I always enjoyed the scene of the Governor and Merel's conversation on the wall of Woodbury. I like the gradual amount of venom Governor adds to every line as Merle doesn't just obey.
I think your content is great, and positive, and really highlights actors and whole casts that put the effort in to draw us into their world completely. Really helps sell their show and can only benefit their peers and audience
Love your videos so much, and I've been able to use the language you highlight in normal everyday situations to find out if someone wants to end a conversation, go somewhere, I've started checking people's feet to see what they're actually paying attention to, really useful info every video
i still like how crazy Rick got as the seasons went on this is one of my favourite moments and Rick was right just went about it the wrong way pulling a weapon
Great video as always. I think I saw someone else request this in a different video(it might have even been me. Idk😅😂) but I would love if you did the scene from season nine where Alpha comes to Hilltop to get Lydia and has that conversation with Daryl. Thanks😊
