The only thing better than an interview with Graham Linehan or Leo Kearse is doing Spectrum Street Epistemology with the two simultaneously! Peter Boghossian presents more than 20 claims to the gentleman, unearthing their perspectives on patriarchy, the looming technological singularity, limits of comedy, the BBC, and more.
Graham Linehan is an award-winning television writer and the comic genius behind British sitcoms “Father Ted,” “The IT Crowd,” and “Black Books.” He is a vocal advocate for women’s rights and children’s safety. He recently published his bestselling memoir, “Tough Crowd: How I Made and Lost a Career in Comedy.”
Leo Kearse is an award-winning comedian with a new weekly show on GB News, “The Saturday Night Showdown.” He was banned from his venue at the Australian Perth Fringe Festival after his content was called transphobic--despite writing the material with a transgender woman he was dating.

@@svenhaheimI don't think there are any true right wing platforms , people know that the head of GB News is a Woke Leftist, and the director us married to the anti White girl from breakfast TV. I'm also not sure Graham would want to be on any platform that's clearly right or left wing. I'd live him to be on a sensible platform like The Lotus Eaters.

@@svenhaheim I agree, but he's centre left and in current day culture war politics it makes him persona non grata for both sides sadly. It would be a stroke of genius if for example Ben Shapiro hired him to write for his next comedy movie. Not just for his talent, but also as a FU to the radical left. Kearse is only thriving (really, standups do get energized by it) and there is even a boring phenom of comedians *pretending* to be getting 'canceled' and they are doing it for self-promotion, however, Linehan is NOT taking it well.

Aside from the “legal” part, there really is no possible way to guarantee a single part of any of the rest of your wish list. Ive never had someone as an intellectual/philosopher i could say that i look up to. Maybe a musician like Claudio Sanchez, and id probably say i look up to the chemist Alexander Shulgin. But Peter Bogosian has been a very real inspiration in my thinking and aspirations in life the last couple of years. Take this as you will but i find that the more i offer myself the opportunity to question what i "believe" and really delve into why i stand on that mat. I end up being more educated, forthcoming, and willing to listen in my day to day conversations. It may be subtle and is often unnoticed but its been important to my understanding of myself and of the world around me. Or if he was looking for a childminder for his kid. All of a sudden I think he’d figure out something was different. Having said that, I do get his point. But I agree with Graham, at this point in time it costs too much to play along with every male who wants to be treated like a female…even the males who pass. It just gets weaponised.

This was great. I have to say that this 'game' was a pretty genius idea from Peter for a number of reasons, that I'm somewhat going to sum up here: 1. It creates nuance and understanding in current discussions to counter the stupid polarization-pull, 2. It's a great way to do something useful for philosophers. A fellow philosophy grad student told me that she was very insecure about her future, careerwise, and that her dream was to be kind of "the village philosopher" who'd help people with their philosophical question, as opposed to being stuck in academia. I think that with this game, Peter has found a way to do that. That's meant as a compliment, I'm being sincere here.

Freedom of speech vs personal responsibility is hard to compare because personal responsibility is a personal quality or ideal we can reach for, whereas freedom of speech is a freedom we must bestow upon others. (or rather, that our government must bestow upon us). Asking which is more important is fine, but I think that is why there is no use comparing them.

Another great deliberation of ideas and opinions from two very talented people and a great thinker that is Peter. This format of questioning has been fundamental to helping me discover when my own views are becoming dogmatic or founded in bias. Its a great way of truly working out what you believe and how strongly founded those beliefs are.

First time I have ever seen one of these, thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I've been a big fan of Leo since he's started his RU-vid channel, enjoy his incisive take on the clown world we live in, and Graham is a total legend I had the pleasure to Chat with in Leeds once after he did a stand up gig. I'm sure he is taller than 6'3, or I have shrunk lol Some fascinating topics from Peter, I do like the pacing of the show, some topics needing just a few words others a few minutes. I have subscribed and set the bell notification

Fist for me too. A nice simple idea (Many best ideas are simple). It would be a great idea brought to a major channel. It might have happened in yester year but it would never get approved by the hurty feelings brigade now,

@@Cybertruck1000 Could be a fun family Xmas game too! Instead of charades, let's see where everyone stands on immigration or other hot topics ;-) I reckon if it went mainstream it'd probably suffer for the same group think it as most other programs, with "safe" guests being invited, all with the same safe opinions... either that or people being terrified to have unpopular opinions in public It'd be cool having Leo and Owen Jones on the same show though ;-)

That was neat. A whole bunch of Guardian readers went past. 'That cant be the chap off GB News? He only looks to be 5 foot 8 when he's in the studio'. Graham was keeping his head down just in case. I'd love to see Peter do this in the Netherlands. We're know to be rude, but we just value honesty over courtesy. We're known for being cheap when we just don't like to live beyond our means, which is why we don't use credit cards. I won't deny any of these accusations, but I will give the context. Most times it's just different values, not a matter of right or wrong.

What an excellent conversation! And thanks for the refreshing humour from all of you. I've encountered all three gentlemen before for one reason or another (online, though not personally; though I do know some of Graham's extended family); and I read the earliest writings on the Sokal Affair (also known as the Grievance Studies Affair) shortly after they first appeared. (That's one of Peter Boghossian's many claims to fame -- and among the self-righteous, to infamy.) I found it interesting and encouraging that none of them found the presence of Islam in the UK to be beneficial to the country. They raise some of the objections that I and others would recognise. But most of those objections are undesirable symptoms, rather than fundamental issues. In particular, they don't raise one of the most important underlying issues, which even underlies the threat to Jews. It is that Islam does not recognise one of the most fundamental concepts on which Western ideas of society and democracy are based. Islam recognises no distinction between the sacred and the secular. It is both a systematic religious belief and a systematic concept of politics. (Maybe I could put that better; but it will have to do for now.) And its teleology is essentially aggressive towards any societal concepts that are opposed to it. One can see the consequences of this in the way that the pro-Palestinian demonstrations have infected vast numbers of people who think they are being virtuous, but know next-to-nothing about the complexities of the subject. Underlying all that, including the rise of Islamic influence in the UK and other countries of Europe, is identity politics -- the most divisive and poisonous body of thought to have arisen in my lifetime, poisonous equally for individuals and for society. Thanks Men! Thank you so much for such a healthy discussion of so many difficult things. Such discussions are in sadly short supply. I think it was Aristotle who said it is important to be able to laugh, even about the most serious things. (You discussed that.) If I'm wrong on that attribution to Aristotle, please correct me.

Why I find it so funny when Brits use offensive language and comedy is because I was tought the english language in the most posh way possible. Due to this false expectation I have from brits, I'm always cought off guard by it, which creates an instant laugh for me. When I watch Peter laugh I suspect he, as an american, has a similar experience.

10:35 so I'm gonna translate politeness as nice. I do feel they are the same, if not very similar. A kind person, who is not nice (polite) will help you fix a tire, but insult or make fun of you the entire time. A person who is nice, but not kind will do nothing to help, but understands and may give you a "that sucks". The question is who would you rather have around?

Look at the father Ted guy fingers when he's talking about Muslims and imagration, inwardly he's feeling anxious, but because of his truthfulness, he as to speak about it. This is what the great majority of UK people think, even people who have settle here from abroad, years ago , and regarded as immigrant them selves. A small country can't support the massive influx of people coming into this country, and certainly don't support alot of their ideology
