Jim should do a chemistry 101 series on the channel :D To explain why we use certain products, and the chemistry behind why they work the way they do! I'm always fascinated by this and love knowing why I'm using something a little more than just "because thats what the instructions say!"

Yes, please have Jim on more often. As a corporate training and development veteran, I have one of those quirky minds that has to know why or the science behind something for it to make sense and stick in my head. Thanks for the video. I have been a liscensed acyrlic tech for 24 years and I'm determined to become a gel tech, so this video really helps me.

Holly Beach I'm with you Holly Beach!! Bring Jim in more often because I too have that brain of quirkiness. I have got to know how things work before I can remember them. I worked in a distribution center for a well-known clothing manufacturer. The issue I always had is that nobody would explain the item codes to me. That item code was longer than a SS# and I just could not remember each item's product code because it held no meaning to me. Finally, after almost four months of working in the dark I found a manager that wanted to help me get somewhere instead of getting fired. She explained the code to me. She broke it down for me and it was the "tada!!" moment! . The product code contained the color code of the product, the size, the plant number it came from, our distribution center's number, and finally the season it was made for (spring was 002). From then on I knew what I was looking for & I could picture the item in my head. Quirky?...nah, just a brain that requires all the pieces of the puzzle to make sense.💅❤

This was great!! I knew you were supposed to just use a boop of the VitaPrime but knowing the why of it really makes a difference. Knowing there is a potential for a chemical burn means I'll be paying better attention to just how big my boop is. I'm super excited for the chemistry lesson in the 2 day class at the end of the month. It's all so fascinating to me :)

Oh yeah! Please do more chemistry videos with Jim. To know how to use your products and what works with what gels is most important to me as a nail tech. Better understanding of how things work and which products are best for my clients is by far THE best way to go. When you have five different products that basically do the same thing?...it's always better to know how to pick the right product for each of my clients. This video is very informative and explained how each bonder worked. I'll be able to choose the best product for my client's nails because I was shown how each bonding product performed. So I for one would love to know how to use (and choose) other products correctly and not waste my gels because I'm using them incorrectly. Bring Jim back and get him to tell us what products works best together... just like this one has done with bonding agents. Loved it!!!

@@shonbowers4028 JimmyGel is our soakable builder gel. If you apply hard gels over it, you must, of course, file through the hard gel to allow the acetone to come in contact with the JimmyGel. For fastest removal, we recommend removing all products on top of the JimmyGel with a hand or eFile, filing the JimmyGel down to remove 90% of the JimmyGel, then soaking the JimmyGel in acetone for complete removal if desired by the client. We always recommend performing fills on top of the existing, reshaped JimmyGel and exposing the natural nail to acetone only if complete removal is desired by the client for prolonged nail health.

Question for Jim. Someone told me that some non acid primers are still acidic and can be damaging to the nail because of the pH. What are your thoughts about that and would any of the LE bonders be pH balanced?
@LightEleganceHQ
@LightEleganceHQ 5 лет назад
Hi Jessica, This answer is straight from Jim. "I cannot comment on other companies products - just our own. The PowerBond is the most pH neutral bonding product we have and does not contain any acidic materials. Tack and AirBond do contain small amounts of methacrylic acid but the level is very low and does not cause acid burns. Methacrylic acid is the chemical most widely used in acidic nail primers but it does not damage the fingernail. It only damages live tissue like the skin. It is for this reason that only small, sparingly applied doses of methacrylic acid should ever be used." Hope this helps!

I am sorry you are having issues but it seems like everything is working fine from our end.

They have an expiration date - 10 years. We have to list a "period after opening" date of 36 months for the EU. The AirBond should remain tightly closed when it is not in use - if it is left open, the moisture in the air can cure the AirBond and render it useless.
