As strange as this movie is I love it when people use cannibalism as a metaphor for love and romance, obviously this movie takes it more literally. To be so in love with someone that you want to consume and devour their very being and body, its so disgusting and intense yet somehow romantic at the same time.
If y'all don't know, Mark Rylance (Sully) is an absolute beast of a stage & Shakespearian actor, and kind of only does movies when he wants to. Like Chappell's saying, your favorite actor's favorite actor 😉🎭
Really missed Zuff for this one, I just know his reactions would have been crazy and hilarious. I hope he’s doin well, restin, and keepin up his strength. He’s fortunate to have you for extra support. All around, this is one of my fav movies. I love the director, the actors, the writing and especially the soundtrack. NIN continues to blow my mind. For me, this movie is so bittersweet and opens up a lot of interesting commentary. A lot of things are implicit or vague, we don’t get a ton of info and learn with the characters along the way but I especially love the atmosphere created because of this. We really sit in the emotions or mood of the characters/scene. To Bryce-when I first watched, I thought perhaps the eater gene could pass through same sex parentage? Like father to son, mother to daughter because that reflects Lee and Maren’s respective lineage. However, this is based on a book and in the book, the dad is the eater (I think) and then Maren. So not sure if this was done purposely in the movie or what they were trying to accomplish. (Haven’t read the book yet but really want to)
As a couple commenters have mentioned, you guys should seriously consider doing the Hannibal series with Mads Mikkelsen - It's easily one of the most disturbingly beautiful shows ever made
I dont't know if somebody already told you, but the actor that here plays the creepy eater in the woods, is the same actor who played Elio's father in Call me by your name :)
I adore how subtle and natural the romance is in this film, and how much of a dark twist it has on it as well. They didn't ask for the lives they had to lead, it was hereditarily passed down to them. And Maren constantly questioned her humanity because of it. She didn't want to at all but it was an unfortunate necessity to them. From what I gathered from the movie. It's based on a book of the same name which I have, but haven't gotten to read yet. So I don't know if they explain it more in-depth or not. But this is one of my top films. I love Luca Guadagnino as a director he is incredible with creating the exact atmosphere he wants. Call Me By Your Name was the first film by him I got to see and I hope you all get around to seeing that one as well. He is perfect when it comes to making you feel like you are in the film with the characters. Thank you for finally watching this one! I couldn't get it out of my head after I watched it the first time. At some point in my lifetime, I want to see Taylor Russell (Maren) and Sophie Wilde (Mia from Talk To Me) in a film together!! I'm throwing that out into the universe lol
this reaction is weird, the same ppl saying stuff like this don’t have problems with horror films that are more gorey, this is legit tame af and pretty beautiful
Fun fact but the eater thing is interpreted as an allegory for queerness, addiction, and being marginalized. I don't think Maren and Lee are bad people for this which is why there was that scene with the cannibal guy to show the difference. This is during the 80s which was Reagan-era and the AIDs epidemic. Anyone outside of what was considered "normal" at the time were heavily ostracized.
Eugh. I saw this in theaters. It's the first movie in a long time that really got under my skin. That finger biting scene? Ewewewewew. And Mark Rylance absolutely ate this role up. Sully freaked me the fuck out. Lastly, I expected a sad ending for our two mains, but Kayla? Poor Kayla didn't deserve that. And something about Sully keeping their hair as a trophy makes it more sickening.
I don't know if I can get through this reaction 😂 but I love you guys, and hope Zuff is doing well! Well see how far I get into the video without being traumatized lol I intentionally never watched this movie
the movie is honestly pretty good, but I can understand why. I'm a bit squeamish myself and the only scene i couldn't watch was when Maren bit the girls finger off. Everything else isn't as bad as that
The guy he beat with the tire iron wasn’t his dad, it was the fake Eater that they met. I think we can take that scene literally bc Lee felt guilt over Maren’s leaving. She left she feels bad about being an Eater and he used that opportunity to do what he thought was right and what Maren would want, which is to get rid of someone who is so awful as to pretend to be something that they were afflicted with at birth. But yes, he did kill and eat his dad. There’s a lot of inference with this movie and it’s really kind of beautiful and sickening at the same time. 😂
I know this sounds crazy but after the initial shock of the first viewing, this has become a comfort film 😂. Saw it like 3 or 4 times in theaters, if you ignore the cannibalism it's a beautiful coming of age story/romance. Love that cannibalism can be an allegory for queerness or otherness that forces people into the margins.
yeah watching this movie in theaters scarred me; every time I eat the meal I ate during my first watch I get flashbacks so bad 😭 however I loved the book sm! one of my personal faves
seeing as how this was set in the 80s to me it’s a horror metaphor for queerness and the other ways people were othered in the 80. sexuality, race etc, even drug abuse could be read into it. also the reactions to this I found over the top as like to me even tho they are cannibals, more mainstream horror films like Saw and shit are waaaay more gorey and gross and no one is out clutching their pearls like this is so tame in comparison. If people are cool with vampires biting into peoples necks then this is just in that same kinda universe imo, bc there is def a supernatural element to these eaters
You guys always watch my favourite movies and series very few channels have watched both teotfw and bones and all, I’ll always be a supporter and wish zuff could’ve seen this one he woulda been losing his shit😂
I’m from southern Indiana and I am not a cannibal. I did eat a steak somewhat raw once but I’m no Jeffrey Dahmer. And in my defense (I don’t like complaining to someone who made me a home cooked meal) but I asked for medium 😂 Loved the reaction fellas, hope Zuff is doing well! ❤
i made the mistake of putting this movie on for the first time when i was starting to eat dinner. i’m not typically a squeamish person, but this grossed me out to the point that i couldn’t eat dinner that night 😂😂😭
Hey guys! great reaction as always! I always find yalls commentary so insightful and entertaining, i actually have a recommendation that yall should look into. It’s called Run Hide Fight, it’s a really action packed film focusing on a teen girl in an active shooter situation, where in she does as the title suggests. It’s one of my favorite movies and it’s an incredible take on the real world tragedies that happen all around us. Hope to see what you guys do next!
Seen this in theaters solo and had an edible before walking in. What a ride lol. I enjoyed myself nevertheless. Loved the shots and the pace. Great reaction!
Still watching the intro, but I have a feeling this is gonna be a wild reaction 😅 Edit: I was not disappointed lol having seen the movie when it came out I knew they were gonna freak out with the mom scene like I did in the theater 😂 and Sully has gotta be the creepiest character I’ve seen in awhile. Like Bryce said, Mark Rylance is right up there with Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal. And I was so crushed about the sister too cause she seemed like such a nice person and it just came outta nowhere.
@@ohbooyourselvesoh. That’s interesting, I feel the opposite. But I wasn’t quite a fan of it anyways. I thought Mark Rylance’s performance as Sully was the best part of the film.
This movie was very good Cant wait until it gets more attention from the reaction community This, poor things and saltburn were such good movies..too bad people don't enjoy artistic movies nowadays and prefer to watch brain trash like John wick
I think some content creators are afraid to watch and react to Bones and All. Because of the cannibalism storyline and it takes place in the 80’s. No smartphones…The least popular movie starring Timothee Chalamet. Plus Bones and All is underrated. Can you please react to Timothee’s other movie from (2019) The King playing on Netflix. It’s raw. It’s heavy heavy drama. Timothee crushes this role as “The King” Not many content creators are not reacting to the The King, maybe they don’t know about this movie either. The King gets ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me. Thanks.
@@deadsetondreams1988 Yes, indeed! 🥂 I've been worried about Sufjan since his health scares. I hope he's recovering and will be able to create much more remarkable music.
