I understand why Bonino left due to contract, but there was no reason to ship Hagelin because JIm Rutherford was angry. Kessel wanted out after seeing management get angry and try make players fear for their jobs. I'm glad Jim Rutherford came to his senses than continue to listen to the bar flies tell him,"Don't let them feel like it is a country club, put fear in them."
@@GoodNewsJim I dont think thats fair at all. Hagelin was a decent player but was making 4 mil per year, which was twice what his play earned and he was losing a step. he only had 10 goals in his best year and only had 3 points in the 16 games before being traded. I loved the guy, but it wasnt a mistake to trade him. Kessel even if he wanted it the penguins wanted him gone too. Neither Sid or Geno wanted him on their line and he was getting old. Bonino is the only one of the three that the penguins wish they could have kept since he was a perfect third line center. Kessel and Hags were my two favorite penguins during that period so im biased for them if anything, but they weren't the same players they were in 16 and 17. Honestly if they had traded Geno too they might be better off today, but that was never going to happen.
Even as a Pens fan, you have to feel awful for Holtby. He makes a 5-star save, but had no chance to control the rebound, and absolutely no way to stop Bonino's shot. HBK definitely caught lightning in a bottle for that playoff run.
Something magic is happening with this team. Who'da thunk it? That this team would be where they are now after where we were 2-3 months ago. Wow. Bring on Tampa. And go Penguins!
Second year in a row ovechkin was sitting on the bench while his team was being eliminated for the playoffs on the road both times from the second round in overtime....feel bad for him nothin you can do when on bench.
pens crushed the hopes and dreams of craps and there fans not once in game 7 in 2009 but twice in game 6 in 2016, and time for the pens to do for a 3rd time in 2017, if the pens win the 2nd rd series against the craps just like 2009 n 2016 then the pens have the biggest chance to repeat as cup champs back to back like 91 n 92.
Ovechkin was sitting on the bench in back to back years the year before this the rangers elim them in overtime I think Stepan? I could be wrong I just remember him being on the bench that’s got to suck knowing you have no control at all when the game ends and you’re
Con- and you’re not on the Ice-* back to back years and then you get the blame it’s what made his redemption story in 2018 so great. I know pens fans are probably here so don’t shoot
Doc Emrick, at that time, was probably the best national announcer in any sport. Al Michaels comes close. (Joe Buck does not....as if you needed me to tell you that.)
As a Ranger fan, I loved it. The Capitals started our decline, by stealing the Metropolitan Division crown from us, so I thought they deserved to get knocked out by the same team that knocked us out. Now, the Caps saw how I felt as a Ranger fan. I loved seeing the Caps get knocked off by the Pens because like I said, the Caps stole the Division crown from us, otherwise, we would’ve never even been in position to lose home ice advantage. I hate the Caps, mainly for stealing that Metropolitan Division crown from us, as I said, but I hate the Flyers the most.
