As an RN…. She is a disaster patient/family member. Ever think that her freaking out is what caused the kid to freak out? Nothing escalates a patients emotions/behavior more than family members like this. And no RN would get up and leave like that, it’s called patient abandonment.

The different nurses and doctors coming in and asking the kid how they got hurst over and over is a tactic. They are checking to see if the story changes or gets suspicious in case the child is being abused. By snapping at this nurse and telling her she doesn't need to know how the kid got hurt this lady 100% is now on some watchlist for them to keep a closer eye on her whenever she comes in with a hurt kid. She just fast tracked herself to a CPS investigation.

Honestly the nurse was probably ticked that she brought her kid to a extremely busy ER for a suture removal. ERs are overloaded. You could of gone to your pediatrician to remove them, not the ER. As a nurse, I can’t imagine the immense pressure of working in a busy ER, trying to prioritise patient care (emergencies, life threatening emergencies, pandemic) & mommy vlogger presents (when she could have attended planned care elsewhere). This allegation is at least a disciplinary action with the language she is using. It’s very sad to hear this content from Bonnie. 😔 It’s horrible to be yelled at when you are trying your best. Sometimes care isn’t up to scratch but go through the correct channels to complain not make it your vlog content. TY for covering this Josh.

That’s a good point about taking the kid to his doctors office to have the stitches removed. Why go to the busy ER? If there were only three stitches she could have probably snipped them out herself. I’m sure the staff in the ER love seeing patients that don’t actually have any kind of emergency.

I’m a trauma nurse practitioner. She is the type of patient we play Rock Paper Scissors for to see who has to deal with her. Josh you took the words right out of my mouth at 8:20 😂 Also, why is she going to an ED for stitch removal? That’s usually done as an outpatient with a pcp bc the ED is for, you know, emergencies. Plus gotta love it when a non-medical professional tells us how to do our job and I guarantee she had a bunch of comments along the way she was leaving out to set the scene and attitude in the room. Also, EDs right now are chronically understaffed and overworked, I am absolutely positive she said enough to piss off whoever was dealing with her and made it 10x worse to begin bc that old saying about being nice to those who take care of you bc they have the ability to make the experience better or worse for you is true. If I were a nurse coming into help and got snapped at by a Karen, sorry, FU, sit there and think about what you’ve done. They also probably went and snagged plastics (plastic surgery md) bc that’s legitimately their specialty, and by that point they said “we’re done, go deal with Karen in bay 5.

The nurse asked how the kid was injured to check about possible abuse. If the parent is aggressive,confrontational and controlling as she clearly was then they will suspect abuse. Her behaviour will have raised red flags and I wouldn't be surprised if a few videos time there will be a "we were checked on by child services". So they should be. In NZ the nurses ask the child about their injuries as a way of checking for possible child abuse, so pretty much everyone who works with your child will ask. I think they look to see if the parent jumps in and answers or if the child’s story matches parents, makes sense etc.

When you talked about first giving birth... My nurses pulled the baby out me, slapped it down on the table and started taking care of it 🤣 I swear it was like a butcher taking care of a fish. It's honestly ok. They take care of dozens of babies a day.

My overall question, as a RN, is why did she go to the ER for a non-emergency? Like why didn’t she get a doctor’s appointment set up so she’s not wasting precious ‘under-staffed’ resources of the ER. 🤦‍♀️ Because getting stitches out is not an emergency unless there’s a complication.

Her title for the video should have been "Went to ER to get stitches out cos I NEED content stat!". Complains ER is busy and under staffed, but could have gone to her family doc for that. 😡😡 Poor nurse.

Sometimes the skin grows over the stitches too much and they have to pick at it to get them out... my sister in law had people reschedule their stitch removals all the time so had that happen a lot. Sometimes scabs around the stitches bleed even though no real harm is being done. Why are they doing it at an ER anyways, that should have been a regular appointment 🤔 don't take up space for people who need emergency care!

Nurses and doctors use asking kids questions they know the answers to as a distraction for the child and pull their attention from the stress or anxiety. Depending on the injury it’s also to check for child abuse. For as many kids as she had I’m surprised she doesn’t get that.

Josh, I LOVE your content, but she has MUCH worse content that clearly illustrates consent concerns and "dramatizing for content purposes". Although I AGREE this does NOT need to be on RU-vid, I can understand her frustration! I was taken to the ER when I was a teen for a blood draw and the nurse kept sticking me because she didn't know what she was doing, and my mom spoke up and said, "you're hurting her'. Another nurse came, and did it in 2 minutes. Easy.

Josh is 100% right about the reaction that would have been the most calming for the child. Hey buddy I know that was tough you did so well I’m so proud of you let’s go get ice cream LOL unfortunately, sometimes there are situations in life that are difficult or unpleasant and obviously as parents you may need to advocate for your child but I do agree that she was blowing this completely out of proportion.

ER nurse here. I wasn’t there so I don’t know what really happened. BUT the ER across the country are sooooo busy and understaffed right now and going to the ED to get stitches remove is really a waste of resources. Doctors office, urgent care etc are way better places. We rarely remove stitches in the ED because people don’t come here to remove stitches.
@marilourun
@marilourun 2 года назад
Oh and filming in the ED is not allowed 🚫 so if she was being filmed she could of just let security know and they would of kicked that person out of the ED. Her story does not make any sense, I think she was filming and got in trouble for filming in the ED. So someone else started filming the argument.

I'm a first year student nurse from the UK and I don't know if they take stitches out differently in the US but how she was describing the process and tools for the procedure has really confused me. I've taken out a few stitches and it's nothing like how explained.. Also she said that he was complaining it hurt and that then she said he was completely still but crying..then he wasn't completely still. I've had the area bleed when I've removed stitches before sometimes bleeding occurs with the way the stitch was put in or the way it pull to come out I've never cut anyone but I definitely had patients bleed a little. It would be good to get your wifes pov on this video to see if she agrees with the process and tools Bonnie explains
