BONNIE PARKER’S Dallas Childhood (number 1) 

My grandmother (born in 1911 and from West Dallas) was part of the Bonnie and Clyde friend group back in the day. She knew both of them well. I can tell you that my Granny hated the 1968 movie with a passion and would tell me how very cute and pretty Bonnie was, "much prettier than that Fay Dunaway". She would have loved your videos because you never make B&C look like lunatics running amok. Thank you

The picture at 14:33 min really shows how much she loved him. One thing you can say for her, is she lived her life as she wanted to. Which is something most woman in her day didn't get to do.

When she came into the world no one could visualize that she would turn to a life of crime. She certainly knew how to dress and how to use make-up she certainly cared about her appearance. She certainly was intelligent and knew how to write especially poetry. Whenever they met people that lived out in the Country or rural areas she did the talking. That's why the authorities couldn't find them because they'd befriend people they met along the way. They'd end up staying for a time with them. If these people were poor they'd give them food and money. According to the book Go Down Together by Jeff Guinn Clyde Barrow gave guns to a certain family that they stayed with. He showed that family head how to use those firearms in the event their lives were threatened. Many people that they met viewed them as good Samaritans. The authorities had a different view of them.

She was just a poor girl who's head got turned the first meeting with Clyde,who in turn to impress Bonnie he became more macho than he normally would be so they become doomed lovers and the rest is history..this was brilliant, thanks 👍 for sharing..u.k fan.

My grandmother saw them when they were held up in a small hotel in Roanoke Texas. The whole town found out and they left. As they were driving out they were waving at everyone. They waved at my grandmother.

You made the defining statement describing Bonnie. In today's world she would have certainly made other choices, simply because she would have had other options.

As her sister Billie Jean said in an interview that was recorded onto an LP record in 1968, “Bonnie was musically inclined.” :-) Billie Jean and Blanche Barrow, as elderly ladies, lived at Cedar Creek Lake (I “think” each had her own home) and hung out a lot together. :-)

Thank You. My wife is related to Bonnie Parker and after her mom Christina Parker passed away we have taken a bit more interest in the family history. Your videos have been great . We have been to some of these locations and heard stories but hearing educated stories from someone who seems to have a passion for it is wonderful.

Bonnie was a beautiful woman. Very sad story of their deaths. An ambush, I believe wasn't necessary.

If it helps, here in UK the story is still very strong. There are many discrepancy's of the facts(documents/evidence now released) due to time constrictions. The B.S. of the media machine etc. Same here. Check the history of those times, they were a tiny issue relatively. Bonnie and Clyde were BIG at being one step in front of the system !!! They made fools of the media fools, and were good at it. This is what the story is really about. Young desperate lovers in desperate times. It was cruel to end it this way. I do not stand in judgement of the system which instigated this, we have the same over here to this day!. I wish them peace, God bless them.

Fascinating MM. A Woman of potential who had little recourse in her environment as you say. She went through more in 23 years than most senior citizens ever see. Love the Bonnie and Clyde coverage and I´ve never seen a lot of those photos.

Not to be a proverbial stick in the mud. But we must remember that Texas Highway Patrolman H.D. Murphy whom was murdered by both Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker also had a family and left behind a fiancee whom couldn't enjoy a life of bliss with her departed fiancee.

I think many people from the 1960s until current time, expect someone who looks like Faye Dunaway or Holiday Granger, and when they see pics of Bonnie they perhaps unconsciously make comparisons. Hollywood has made both Bonnie and Clyde unusually beautiful. After all...Clyde was certainly no Warren Beatty, lol!!

To paint the lips in that style was all the rage at that time. Somewhat like women do today with over lining. I’ve noticed that Bonnie really enjoyed fashion. She would have had a great time with all the make up options available these days.

Some writers have opined that Bonnie was not photogenic but that in real life she was very pretty. Some contemporary eyewitness comments rated her appearance in relation to her use of makeup and choice in clothing. A young woman who saw Bonnie in the car being towed into town, was shocked that Bonnie wore a RED dress! Nice women did not use so many cosmetics and apparently did not wear RED dresses. My mother was around the same age as Bonnie and was raised in the Pacific Northwest. Mom said everyone in town must have been poor but no one knew it because no one had much. There were not so many seeds of envy. Grandad worked hard and managed to provide a college education for all three of his children. Mom graduated with a teaching degree and a minor in mathematics. The first time she applied for a teaching job, she left blank the question about religion. The family was not religious and had no specific affiliation. The woman taking the applications called attention to the omission but mom simply said she had no religion. The application was instantly dumped into the trash can. Mom never worked as a teacher but accomplished a lot in her life. My point is, there were currents of social controls in those days. Those who crossed certain lines or failed to measure up to the norms could be rejected and marginalized. Society policed itself but there were many downsides such as women who dressed or acted certain ways, deserved whatever happened to them. A Bonnie Parker, wearing lots of makeup and not fearing to wear a RED dress, may well have been labelled with some nasty names.

thanks for an interesting story on Bonnie. It is sad to see these young people make the wrong choices in life. I know it was tough for her and she had to survive , but the path she took led to a short life.

About whether Bonnie was attractive, Ted Hinton said in his book “Ambush” that pictures didn’t do Bonnie justice. He said that she could “turn heads”.

The Hargrave's Cafe building is right next door to my doctor's office and I always swing by there whenever I leave. I nearly tossed my cookies that day I came around the corner & saw some clearly insane folk had painted the beautiful original brick exterior BLACK. I don't see how they could know the historical significance of the building and still be ruining it so badly. Good Lord!

I found Bonnie unconventionally pretty. She had a modern 30s look for her day. Sure she wasnt an all american beauty type or a faye dunaway but she definitely had an unique kind of beauty. Its been said Clydes mum wasnt a fan of any gal in Clydes life so i think it was a clear case of mother in law jealousy. I always saw her and Clyde as equals in looks and personality. These were 2 people who were cut from the same cloth in my opinion and its no wonder they're still talked about till this day and considered one of the most infamous couples of all time. Everybody knows who Bonnie and Clyde is!!!!

Hello, my name is Michael Floyd Higgins, my mother's maiden name is Parker and I have a story that is very hard to believe, It's a very long story and ALOT of unanswered questions I have pertaining to Bonnie and her story compared to my mother's story, have not found very many people that believe my story.

from the day I was born I was a spitfire. I was small most of my life, and id never pass up defending myself. I would give it as it was given. You hit me, im hitting you. My grandpa's neighbor, said I was a mild version of Bonnie.. As a kid, I was a sweet as pie, but if I got picked on or hit, id make that other kid regret it 😂 as a child, id always love learning about them. They both got dealt a crappy hand..

You spent a lot of time focusing on her physical appearance which is really quite irrelevant. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I've watched and read many biographies in my time (I'm in my 50s). It seems like men back then either died young or abandoned the family. There's an assumption that marriages lasted decades back then but not true. Men dumped their family just as much as they do now. At least Bonnie didn't have kids with these losers like most women do

Such a shame. Poverty brought on by war. Forced into a poorly made decision as a not brain matured child. Factory worker mom. Intentional destruction of a class of people that drove some to crime out of desperation. I'd of probably gone the same route. Better to burn out than fade away if they were going to break you in your own state & country anyways.

It seems like recently there have been more pictures of Bonnie Parker in my opinion I think she's a very attractive woman. For the longest time it seems like the only pictures available where the ones with her holding a shotgun and a cigar in her mouth those were the only unflattering pictures I've seen. I would give anything to meet her in person without the guns of course
