I prefer the e books because I’m dyslexic and it’s easier for me for the book to be red out to me while following it gets me excited about reading which I always did because I just can’t do physical books 😊

I am Hindū, so there are some books in which the English text is natively set (typed in on a computer prior to publishing as an e-book), BUT the Sanskrit text is unfortunately photocopied from a print book of poor quality and inserted into the file. There are NO OTHER SOURCES for certain texts. One would have to go all over India, knocking on hundreds of millions of doors to try to find a legible print book to be scanned in. In cases like this, I have to blow up the scanned text to a very large size (because there is simply bleeding in the characters, or they may be printed too lightly and you have to zoom in to see what it really says). Plus, I am a political exile from America (5 years), so since I don't have a permanent home, it doesn't make sense to have a library of physical books because I can't pack up 230-250 BOXES of books and take them with me in case something goes wrong or I have to move somewhere else. It's just better to have it all on the laptop. The days of having a home for your whole life and having a library larger than your own public library are over. The demons in control of the West will not allow anyone to be that comfortable. Given that, I have a set of Hindū scriptures in Sanskrit and Hindī in physical form, and it's a very large set physically, and I have the English translation in electronic form. I use both, but I'm severely restricted in how many paper books I can have in case I have to move again. Paper books started out in India around the 5th century BCE in the form of palm leaves.

How did you get exiled from the US?
@stephanieellison7834
@stephanieellison7834 5 месяцев назад
@@wallysls I am self-exiled. I couldn't afford to live there anymore. Plus, as I have continued evolving as a spiritual being, as we all should at the right time, I have grown away from Western civilization and its mores, if you can call it that. As a result, I realized, from an Indic and Hindū perspective, that I no longer have a home there, unless you want to call living on the streets home or living on rural properties while hiding your presence from the legal property owners home. Another reason is jobs. I have only worked low office jobs and retail jobs on the sales floor. I was not able to promote out of these jobs. I tried with tech in the 90s and 2000s, but I wasn't successful for long and washed out at the bottom, never having experienced what it was like to grow within a profession. The longer I am here, the more I realize I made the right decision to leave in 2018. I am profoundly deaf and 57. I have some health issue right now that I am resolving. I get to do what I need to do, what I want to do. If you adjust cost of living here, it is like living on $95,000 a year and having only $25,000 in expenses and saving the huge majority of it. Mind-blown... I never experienced this in America, and I'm prepared to die here. I would liked to have seen someone make a move called "To Live and Die in India."

I prefer eBooks myself. Everyone is different but I like the ease of use, perfect font, perfect light at all times, etc. Plus, I can borrow eBooks without leaving my living room. All good.

Thank you. I've been trying to decide whether or not I should buy a e reader. This comment helped me make my decision. I also like physical books if they look cool but honestly that is the only reason I like them. I'm getting the e-reader as soon as I get my next check

🤔 im not sure which way to go here. Physical books can be checked out from the library for free but they are bulky and heavy and my limit is only 2. The e reader is small and light. I can store hundreds of books but the ereader is kinda expensive. I dont care about building a library in my home.

Well, to each their own. I love reading too and I've read plenty of physical books in my day, and there's nothing like the smell of an old book. That being said, I prefer ebooks for a few reasons. A physical book can often be unwieldy, hard to read while lying down, and too heavy to lug around. I also tend to get discouraged if the book is a bit of a slog, especially with small type and long chapters. With an ebook, I can break them up easier, easily stop between pages instead of the middle of a long page, and adjust the font size to my liking. Ebooks also take up no space on my already cramped bookshelf. That's some reasons why I personally prefer ebooks and they've allowed me to read far more books than I would have otherwise. But I can also appreciate the arguments for why people wouldn't like them.

I have to have e-books because I live abroad, and I can't move 230-250 BOXES of books every time I have to get up and move. I'm self-exiled from the US.

Hi, Do you download the ebooks for free or do you buy them? What’s the best way to read them? Should we buy the kindle device? Reading on laptop is not comfortable for one’s eyes. I’m looking for an old book called “Mommie Dearest” by Christina Crawford. I don’t know how to download it for free. Some people say any book can be downloaded. The book can only be purchased. The cost is high with the shipping. That’s why I’m hesitant to buy it.

e readers absolutely suck! heck that applies to the entire current literary world as well! full of secondhand illiteracy and the fast myopic people that think a 50 page commercial fiction ebook is a quality novel. harold bloom would be rolling in his grave
@pcoleman2562
@pcoleman2562 7 месяцев назад
I mean, you can read classics, and even Harold Bloom's own books on an ereader. I think it comes down more to literary taste rather than book format. Technically you could have someone hand write Shakespeare onto a bunch of sticky notes and it would still be Shakespeare.
