@@shaunpearson7905 yeah but even if he didn't know beforehand that it was an act, he figured it out in 5 seconds. And SBC has pulled one on people who "knew it was all an act" plenty of times. Regis was an undeniable master of his craft
There are several factors in making a great speech such as making it humorous relevant and not too long One resource I found that succeeds in merging these is the Talking Template Bundle (google it if you're interested) without a doubt the most helpful info i've seen. Check out this great website.
That's a seriously underrated talent to have. Regis was so great. I think A) he had tons of show biz experience and saw through SBC's act in seconds and decided to play along, and B) even if SBC took him for a ride on this one, Regis was so gracious and funny that it doesn't even matter
I grew up in the 80's and 90's thinking Regis was just just this cheesy talk show host. After seeing this and hearing of other accounts, I can tell he was just a very genuine man with a sense of humor, a dedication to his career, and a true local icon for NYC.
Pre 2008, before wild conspiracies became normalised, before political polarisation and election tampering. Everyone is losing their damned minds, the last time this happened was right before a world war.
Do you remember the insanity following 9/11? I do. Afghanistan, Iraq? Hundreds of thousands of civilian lives lost? For nothing? Trump is a terrible guy, for sure, but he is nothing compared to Bush and Cheney. Americans have no memory. That's the biggest problem.
@@mennoknight78 Yup, but these things happened to other countries so nobody cares. When it's in your own back yard it's different. Get ready for United states World civil war 2: electric boogaloo.
Regis, wow, of all the interviews in all the world, he handled SBC as Borat, by far, the most cleverly, fluid, fun and honorably. Not at all an easy thing to do. Beyond impressive!
My theory is that, as great of a character actor as Cohen is, Regis had decades of cold, hard, unforgiving show-biz experience behind him and saw through the act in seconds, and decided to play along because he was just that kind of guy. It's one of the rules in improv comedy - once the premise is thrown at you, you just roll with it no matter what.
It doesn't even matter if he was "in on the joke" when he first met Borat, he was such a pro that even if he wasn't, he could both see through the act immediately and play along flawlessly.

A lot of lines from these interviews were already bits from Da Ali G show or the Borat movie. This was lifted from the “etiquette” episode. He tells a man “you are fat!” and then tells his wife “you are tiny! He will crush you when you do sex.” 😂
I still laugh when I watch Sascha do his Borat In the movie theater I hardly heard anything as two. What I called " Laugh track Ladies" They were just HOWLING with Laughter non stop through the whole movie They sounded like a whole audience Whopping..screaming laughing Choking coughing it was Crazy Dam I miss Regis he was a sweet funny guy a good host and obviously here a very good sport.. R.I.P REGIS
These two were wonderful together! Borat can kick it with anyone as long as they are on his wavelength of comedy and Regis totally was! BEAUTIFUL TO SEE!! WOW WA WEE WA!!!
One of the best interviews I have seen since most just try to use Borat’s common jokes, but Regis just keeps moving forward while actually seeming interested in his guest.
Regis was a dude. Being from Ireland, I had no exposure to him at any length. But he was always a big fan of wrestling and had wrestlers on all the time... Dude.
“This guy in a Cadillac cut me off, so I fallowing him, and when he gets out of his car, I run up behind him and start smashing his head in with this bat” “What’s happened to you Regis?!”
