We compared the aggressive rumbe of the Borla S-Type Exhaust vs. the Borla ATAK Exhaust on GMC Sierra 6.2L trucks. Which do you like better? Check out our Borla Exhausts for Silverado or Sierra! bit.ly/3hc4Atz
I had the touring on my 19 LD. Loved it. Love the howl over the growl. I always said I wanted a cold air because then it would be just the right note. But now I’m thinking of getting atak for my new one.
i vote for the ATAK.i just did a 6.0 ls swap into a 2005 blazer with a stage 1 cam and true duals i used borla XR-1's and my god its loud af.wish i would have got the ATAK instead, sad thing is i did research guess this was the best video and i missed it,great video guys.
thunder bolt I was agreeing with Edward Brady. I’m on the fence though... Bought a 2020 Chevy Trailboss 6.2L. Can’t decide between Corsa Sport and Borla S type.
@teejay Now I can't decide between the two. lol Something is telling me to lean towards the S Type just cause I like it loud, but I don't want it to be too loud. However, I like the deep growl on the ATak. How does the truck sound on idle?
The borla S type sounds Deeper than the Atak on this video and Better !!! I had the borla S type on my 2015 mustang GT and got nothing but compliments from people who heard it on my car. ;)
Borla Atak sounds better like that deeper growl it has u should do a video with these exhaust on the GMC and silverado 2.7L turbo see how these sound to but great video!
I've been going back and forth between these two for my 21 Silverado 6.2L for several weeks. I just ordered the Atak knowing that I can always quiet it down if I really need to. I can always buy the S-Type muffler (60679). Plus the Atak is usually cheaper.
Well I changed my mind and ordered the S-Type and I'm installing tomorrow. I love the sound of the Atak but I think at the end of the day it is a bit obnoxious.
@@mike_saw_7563 how is the s-type? I just installed the ATAK cat back on my 5.3 Silverado (2016) and it’s really loud. I mean, it sounds good, but it will definitely take some getting used to. I haven’t driven it over 50 mph yet (just haven’t had it on the highway yet), But in slower subdivision driving it’s crazy loud. At idle it’s not too bad, but for cold starts my neighbor (whom is about 150 feet or so away can definitely hear it fire up! Lol.
@@BigSFun I'm glad I went with the S-Type. It is plenty loud on a cold start but settles down at idle. No drone and when I get on it I can hear it but it is not obnoxious.
2023 AT4 6.2 motor, Borla ATAK muffler. Sounds amazing but too loud, really, it's the cabin drone at highway speeds. Not awful but I don't care for it. I am here checking the sound of the S-type, seems pretty close as does their Touring muffler. Borla has a sound rating on their site, Touring versus ATAK are close. I want less, just a small growl. Any suggestions, replacement muffler only?
Makes sense to understand the cab sound. My S-Type sounds great with the windows up BUT now that it’ warmer out and I have had a chance to run around with the windows down I’m really super happy. :)
Now that the warmer weather is here I have actually been able to comfortably run with the windows down. First of all, great job GM on dampening the outside noise. It’s remarkable the difference between windows up and down. The windows up you can have a conversation with the S-Type. Windows down is freaking awesome!!!!
Ordered the atak then cancelled and ordered the s-type. S-type seems more tuned whereas the atak seems of the chain like a Harley. S-Type is good balance for me.
Love Borla but they still don’t have it for my 19 Silverado crew cab with the standard bed. Sucks I might have to buy a different manufacturer. Just not sure which one.
We do know that Borla is trying to configure all the cab and bed length options, so it could just be a matter of time before they have one available. Or MBRP might be a good alternative if you are looking for an exhaust now.
Lol these two basically sound the same. I can hear minute differences but at that point I think it’s just more decibels for one. It’s like comparing the 40 series to the 44 series. I threw a flowfx on my 4.3l and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Everyone tries to make them sound like a v8 and just make them sound loud (and slow). The flowfx was the only one I couldn’t find a video on with my engine so I sent it. It sounds great and doesn’t sound like anything else on the road, unless you have a magnapack on a 4.3l (also it isn’t absurdly loud). Hopefully o can toss a v8 in there once this thing blows lol. But so far I think my 4.3l sounds really good and not like everyone else with a 40 series. Also that thing was only $30. I usually dislike borla for price and sound but this one actually sounds really good! It’s mostly that terrible tractor sound at idle lol.
The S-Type will have a small Borla resonator that is part of the kit, the ATAK version will not have a resonator. The factory components are eliminated.
An exhaust should not completely void the factory warranty but we would suggest checking with your local dealer to see what they might say. Since they are the servicing dealer, some might be a little more lenient then others.
Well I just got off the phone with Borla trying to buy the ATAK for a 2020 Silverado Trail Boss and they said you CAN NOT put an ATAK on it, my only options would be the S Type exhaust part number 140769 Just FYI... *** UPDATE* I just called you guys and after a little research you can only get the ATAK on the 6.2 not the 5.3 engine.
@@tonytrumpetking Some people have said it's roughly the same, maybe even a little louder. And if there is a difference, you can't really tell. I'm going the muffler route to find out.
@@ej1025 i got the muffler it's an amazing sound. Honestly if you don't mind the droning it's a good muff. I think i might change it. I don't like the drone.
Hey guys, have a 2019 GMC Sierra Denali w/6.2. Which exhaust would you pick between the Borla and the MBRP? If Borla, which one do you guys think is better for a nice rumble over stock? Thanks a d Happy Holidays!
really? I have the s type and I love that thing. Even have a video of it on my channel. The thing screams on the high way with out that raspy flicker effect i hate from atak. Maybe 6.2 L is different than 5.0 coyote.
@@PhastekTrucks How about the cold starts? How do they compare? Trying to decide if the ATAK will be too much for the neighbors, but if cold starts are similar, I'll just go with the ATAK and drive slow on the way out of the neighborhood.
@@Sloimer From what we experienced the cold starts were a bit similar. You could tell there was a little difference in the ATAK version but we would say it was not over bearing for those early day starts.
Phastek Trucks thanks for the reply. Really appreciate it. Coming from a Camaro with a Flowmaster X Pipe and Magnaflow Race series and I feel like won’t be happy unless I get the ATAK. Trying to retain the aggressive sound but I know I’ll hate the drone since it’s a daily driver, which has lead me to deciding between Borla ATAK and S-Type.
This was the system installed for the S-Type. It does have the center resonator as part of the system. www.phastekperformance.com/Borla-3-5-S-Type-Cat-Back-Exhaust-System-p/borla-140773.htm
@@PhastekTrucks awesome, thank you for taking the time to respond. Have you done any videos with the Atak Muffler on the 6.2 to know if it sounds halfway decent?.. I think thtas what I am going to go with is the muffler for cost since I am leasing it and I think it still sounds good.. but that catback sounds awesome!
@@thomasjacot9849 we have not done any straight muffler swaps just yet. I think it would be safe to think that a muffler replacement will sound a bit similar to the full system since most of it is the piping anyways.
@@PhastekTrucks I really appreciate the interaction.. great video by the way, well put together and shows exactly what is needed/ desired without all of the fluff. keep up the good work!
Technically the exhaust should not void the entire factory warranty. But some dealers do not like any modifications done to vehicles. We would suggest checking with your servicing dealer to see how they would treat the exhaust modification.
I got the gm performance borla. its nice it basically the borla toring and I had the dealer put it on. just wish it was a little louder but sounds great
No. Borla are full exhaust systems. That's what you pay for, the high grade steel. The Touring does not have resonator from Borla. But you can keep your stock one and put it on (it will fit), or you can buy one from Borla. But I think that is a waste of money. The touring is a quiet system, it doesn't need one. If you wanna keep your resonator, I would just get a Flowmaster muffler - like the Super 50 muffler. That is kinda like the Touring, better sound IMO. And way cheaper. Have a muffler shop weld it on, can keep your stock pipes and just leave your resonator on.
