Bosch Performance CX Race and the Smart System - ebike motor review

Finally, we had the chance to test the Bosch Performance CX Race. We have reviewed few Bosch powered bikes lately, so it was interesting to see how much the motor have changed over the Performance CX gen4 motors that predates the Smart System. The Smart Systems brought more changes than just BT-support, remotes, dislays, batteries and such.

Great video as usual, I would not be surprised either if there was an update with this mode coming to the regular CX Performance also. 👍It already have like one meter over-run on the emtb mode.

Thank you for an informative video. I just checked my 2022 Trek Rail… sadly, no ‘Race’ mode update😢. EMTB mode with a +2 tweak will have to do for now😂

The updated motor controller on my 2023 ORBEA WILD is a quite small and blue tooth. You should check it out.

Hello! One question: in Race mode is there still the 25 km/h or 20 mph limit or you can deactivate it?

Hi. The Race motor has the same speed limit as the standard Performance CX, there are no built-in options to remove the limiter afaik.

Hi, I am getting to the age where an electric bike seems more attractive, I ride about 40% off road and the rest of the time cycling on roads to get to the off road cycling, off road cycling is a real mix of surfaces, I was wondering if the race motor would be ok for this amount of road cycling.

Hi. Yeah, the Race motor would be fine. Having a pushy motor on asphalt etc can make the ride very effortless. The basic Performance CX would be fine too, but if you're looking at a specific bike that happens to have the Race, it should be fine.
