Something to always keep in mind guys: the price is 12,100 yen (roughly $78 USD) but that is NOT what we will pay internationally. That is only the Japanese MSRP, you will only be paying that price if you import directly from Japan but then you have import/shipping on top of that. The actual international prices by online retailers like Awesome Collector, BBTS, Entertainment Earth, etc., is expected to be in the $100-$120 USD range. There is always a 30-40% markup by retailers for SHMA products, this happens every time without fail. I think the figure looks fantastic but, for me personally, this is just another case of myself being priced out of the SHMA line. I just can't justify $100+ on it, I really wish Bandai could find a way to distribute worldwide themselves for the actual MSRP.
Bandai distributing world wide would be fantastic! America and China get these pretty regularly thanks to Bandai Namco and such, but places like Australia or Indonisia for example don't even have a regular distributor. So when these do show up on local websites the markup is HUGE, in part because these local places are buying the stock directly from Japan and have to pay full price themselfs + shipping + GST etc and that gets pushed onto the consumer so the local retailer can still make profit. Godzilla Evolved for example is $250AUD locally here. For this reason most of us buy directly from Japan ourselvs to bypass this and save a tiny bit of money, but by doing that were essentially showing the select few retailers that do go out of their way to import these for us that we don't want them, so they stop importing them. It especially hurts knowing that Bandai could help even a little if they put more care into the Ociania side of their P-bandai website which is barebones. I do get it, on one hand the market here just isn't that large here but on the other hand, Bandai has shown that they are capable of doing more to some extent but are choosing not too. Guess I might have to go to buissness school, open up my own distribution branch for Ociania and handle things myself 😅
Skar King looks like a great action figure but I'm a little bummed that we're not getting a full Kong Beast Glove release. If they decide to give Kong another SDCC treatment with the glove that'd be awesome but I won't hold my breathe.
I don’t have a Monsterarts Kong figure so I was waiting for a standalone BEAST Glove. I don’t even like Skar King that much so forcing me to buy him just for the accessory + buying Kong seperately is out of the question. Holding out that Hiya releases a BEAST Glove Kong, otherwise I’m sticking with my Playmates Kong😅
I'd personally say that the Skar King body sculpt is pretty solid, the face plates are definitely the weak point in my opinion. Not outright terrible, but improvements can be made 100%. I imagine that if anyone has the GvK version of Kong, you dont 100% need to buy the GxK version to apply the Beast Glove onto. I will say, the translucent looking crustals on SHMA's Shimo looks really nice, it could allow something akin to a light piping affect.
I still prefer SHMonsterarts Evolved Godzilla over Hiya, I think both Hiya and SHMonsterarts are going to have an equal beautiful product with Shimo, I guess we will see.. as far as Skar King goes, I'd buy it but I'm also going to buy the Hiya one too

Expensive AF for something thats straight up WRONG. If you dont see it, now you will: look at his chest on what should be the red paint; the sculptor gave him fur there, on the chest... where he shouldn't have fur because its PAINT, not FUR, but I guess understanding a design while you sculpt it is a choice. What a fucking joke Its honestly insulting how little they care about the mv. And no, ONE good figure doesn't fix the mv line. Still, if you are reading this and like it, im happy for you and hope you get him for cheap and no QC issues. SAVE ME HIYA MAN
Looks pretty good but I’m not crazy for the faces. There definitely could be more when the figure actually releases since he was way more expressive in the movie. Also hoping that Whipslash is properly articulated.
In general it looks aight, but is underwhelming in comparison to Evolved Goji (that one really puts our hopes up huh, bois). I'm glad that they finally do Legendary's original kaiju tho. I could see the dissapointment. At least it would be cool if the one included here is the gauntlet only with the carrier, and it could wrap wround 2024 Kong, while there will be a full on B.E.A.S.T. glove Kong release later on with the sculpted together gauntlet. Tbh, they might pull off SDCC exclusive again, this time actually using the previous SDCC Kong with the sculpted scar, giving new headsculpt, more screen accurate with beard, the thick fur mane, a frostbite arms, glove arm, default arm, glowing axe, H.E.A.V. II, Skar King's frozen head, Suko and Doug. Overall gonna be a worth it package... just that it won't be accessible to most without paying premium price. I do have to ask why giving him a neutral face when dude always look either mad or mad . Giving him the sinister grin would fit the whole controlling Shimo pose better
I’m not paying over 100 dollars for such a humanoid figure, especially when it’s a little under 80 bucks in Japan. At least with the Godzilla figures you could justify it with the tail being a massive part of them, but with this it’s literally skinnier Kong.
I kinda agree with all of your points in there. Skar looks good to me, could be better. The big let down for me is going to be Shimo but let's wait for the full announcement.
I'd really like to see Hiya's versions before I make a decision on this figure. He looks good. The roaring face is a little off, but a beast glove for my GvK Kong would be great.
I honestly really like the figure, I think the entire mold and sculpt look great. The head looks good, but agree the roaring one looks…off, seems closer to some of the faces he pulled off in Rio fight rather HE scenes. His pupils being different colors is accurate to the movie they are black normally then turn pale blue when he roars/laughs I was expecting Skar to come with something for kong, in fact I was hoping for it, but I think skar coming with the BEAST glove was the wrong move. Imo it should’ve been a extra head or damaged/frost bitten hands for kong. Pretty sure 12,000¥ or roughly $78 usd is fair but that means the msrp in us will likely be around $100-$120 which I’m not a big fan of, $90-$95 would be a more fair price tag Maybe skar coming with pieces for Kong will mean Shino might have something for Godzilla, or for skar too?
In my opinion I think shma messed up with their GxK releases. What I think shma should have done was release their first two GxK figures, except Kong should have already had his glove. This would allow for more alternate heads with different facial expressions to be included with Skar King rather than an extra Kong arm with different hands for the extra arm
I know sh monster arts is making a comeback with their gxk the new empire figures I really do like them and wanting to get them but prices are going to be a nightmare for Godzilla collectors and the worst part is they are Bandai premium web exclusives rip my wallet for that 😭
I like the figure itself but if only it were a regular release and priced lower. They are obsessive with the everything becoming Premium Bandai even though it's a new sculpt and not repaints.

That's a classic bandai move, buy another full figure to complete another one. It looks good but yeah I think im just priced out of SHMA nowadays, 90 dollars was already steep for me for the last one I bought.
I like it but i have issues with it, not enough expressions (especially the laughing one) and the glove thing sucks because A. If you only want the kong youre forced to get Skar King B. Now we arent going to get a movie accurate Kong with updated sculpt
I will be picking it up, I’m just a little worried about the ship having the bending wire. I’ve had figures in the past that utilized that and the biggest issue I always ran into was the wires always snapped and at that point became useles. I’m not thrilled about the price but overall I don’t think it’s terrible for what we get. Compared to the Godzilla evolved which comes with nothing and is going to cost more is the figure I’d be avoiding. Hiya has me for both shimo and evolved Godzilla for now unless the one shma does has some cool beam effects.
Hiya is really holding the entire figure community together right now. Without Neca or Hiya, we’d have no middle ground. You’d either have to buy playmates (which are cheap, but aren’t the highest quality) or SHMA (which cost $100+ and have loads of QC issues). TL;DR: Thank God for Hiya

Most likely you can just have gvk or exclusive kong aswell and just have this beast glove because I have exclusive kong and I’m not getting the new Kong and just use him to have this beast glove. But speaking of SHMA exclusive Kong, hopefully they don’t do the same thing and rerelease another skar king next year with more accessories
Sucks they didn't get the pupils right we'll see if hiya pulls it off I mean his eyes did change color throughout the movie it seemed like; hell his pupils where glowing red at some point.
Would be so cool if this had glow in the dark eyes or alternate eyes painted like it looks like glowing ı also have high concerns for shma shimo teaser it looks really off
The figure has almost the same amount of accessories for Skar King as the Standard Kong has at $75USD. The idea that an arm and three hands bumped up the price by $45 is absurd to me. You cannot tell me that the Beast Gauntlet accessories are worth that price. I swear, Bandai must have thought the movie was going to be an absolute bomb so they locked everything behind PBandai exclusive to mitigate the potential for financial losses, because there is no reason for this figure to be more expensive than the Event Exclusive Kong that came with more heads, more hands, and more accessories.

gonna skip it and hope Tamashi will do another SDCC exclusive type thing, as they did with Kong 2021! what rubs me the wrong way is how tamashi did not elude to this type of release for Beast Glove Kong, there was no tease, no indication that Gloveless Kong would get a separate accessory attached to another figure! even other review channels including yours predicted that Beast Glove Kong would be its own release, not what we ended up getting!!!
I’m waiting for hiya toys 3 reasons why. They don’t crumble out of the box like Shma, 2 some are overpriced without any accessories and 3 there not really worth it in my opinion BUT THE Hiya toys figures they stay in one piece they are pretty good articulated and there movie accurate so that’s why I’m going with Hiya toys
Tbh I love how the designs look but skar kings head doesn’t really look movie accurate at all but I really do love the figure designs I am going to get these cuz I will just have enough for it and also I am excited to see shimo but I won’t lie hiyas shimo looks movie accurate and i am excited to get these figures soon
Wasnt a big fan of him in the film, wish he had done more with all the hype they gave him. Will still get him to complete the MV collection along with Shimo. Hoping they release a 2pack Muto and an EE MV Mechagodzilla with effect parts
I’ll get the shma skar king and maybe Kong but I’ll be getting hiya shimo and Godzilla the Godzilla isn’t really getting me with that price and I’m worried shimo is the same
I think general releases aren't a big problem, but web exclusives like this are harder to source. You may have to go through an import site like Hobby Genki to get them to you!
HYPED! Definitely getting this guy! & an Infinity gauntlet accessory... that I won't know what to do with & don't care for. Yay? 0hh well. Definitely worth it for a badass-lookin' Skar King! 🦧
To be honest I don’t think SHMA isn’t worth the money. The quality isn’t the greatest. They fall apart way too easily and the paint work isn’t the greatest at times. The price just isn’t worth it for me!
For me, the fact that Hiya brings a detail and a much better mold than SHMA with a much lower price makes me feel that it is worth what I am paying, I don't feel that with SHMA, the articulation for me is not so crucial because if I see a poor paint or sculpt, I feel like I spent 150 dollars on a bootleg figure

Ya know, $75 for Shma level of articulation, a (hopefully) amazing looking past job, and the accessories it comes with is pretty good for a monsterarts figure...
Unlike Godzilla Evolved I think the paint on this one really missed the mark. It looks very basic and flat in texture, and has weirdly blue-tinted and desaturated color choices for a really warm colored monster.
He’s too gray, like WAY to grey honestly the playmates has a better color scheme, I can image this thing also falling apart from being to tight or loose
Still no teeth gritting face for Kong. No smirking face for Kong. No metal tooth for Kong. Paywalling Kong accessory behind a P Bandai figure that YOU KNOW is factored in the price (nothing is free). Just another Bandai Blunder. Also if Americans are paying $120 then I'm sure Canadians are going to pay even more.
