Some day in the future we'll look back on these pandemic performances - masked audiences, spaced players - and just be thankful that we could and can still hear this glorious music. Great orchestra. Great conductor going on to new challenges!
Brahms 1 Sinfonie - hr Sinfonie orchester - Andres Orozco-Estrada. I must confess not to have heard this piece of music before but after only listening to it once, I find it very easy to listen to and very pleasant. The Symphony Orchestra are very talented musicians under the control of conductor Andres Orozco-Estrada. I’m enjoying listening to this music in the comfort of my home. I Thank You Very Much for being able to enjoy it with you all.
For me the earliest recollections of Brahms' First go back to the 1950s when AFN Frankfurt used, on an almost daily basis, the intro to the Third Movement (here at 23:28!) in order to start their classical music program for the American Forces stationed in Europe. This beautiful clarinets' introduction has been serving as an Ohrwurm melody ever since, apart from the grand and triumphant brass chorus in the symphony's Finale. Wishing all the best to Maestro Andrés Orozco-Estrada in his hometown Vienna.
This is a very dramatic and exciting performance of one of the glories of the symphonic literature. The introduction to the melody (31:10) and the melody itself (33:21) are among Brahms' greatest inspirations.
I enjoy watching the musicians play, often lost in their own world and not conscience that the camera is focused on them. I'm a lousy piano player but it pleases me to see talented people play so well.
0:05 I. Un poco sostenuto - Allegro 13:34 II. Andante sostenuto 23:28 III.
Andrés you are a pride for our fatherland Colombia. Really all your performances are tops. Congratulations. Muchos abrazos desde La Calera, cerca a Bogotá.
Beautiful to see such a great orchestra playing big symphonies at full strength again! Hopefully I will be able to get myself down to the concert hall soon...

World best composer Andres Orozco Estrada my favourite composer mind relaxed heart touching great music symphony orchestra thank you hr sinfonie orchestra excellent recording super sound effect world best symphony orchestra Frank furt radio symphony orchestra World best Johannes Brahms Comment no 1
This is a very dramatic and exciting performance of one of the glories of the symphonic literature. The introduction (31:10) to the melody and the melody itself (33:21) of the magnificent finale are both examples of the highest inspiration.
The performance of the slow movement is an absolute delight, wonderful oboe, first horn and other wind soloists, nicely blended with the first violin solo. Brahms chamber music on a grand scale. My favourite movement in this symphony starts at around 15:35
Thank you for delighting us with these perfect symphonic music auditions. It becomes difficult to attend concerts live..¡ Enhorabuena a toda la orquesta y su director !
Magnifica interpretación, con gran sentimiento y profundidad. Lo que Brahms quería. Felicidades para Andrés y la orquesta. Lo escuché con auténtica emoción.
Depuis 60 ans j'aime Brahms.
Sublime. Must be totally weird to adjust to the acoustics of the players farther apart than usual. I see that this was during Orozco-Estrada's last season. Thank you and the orchestra for the music and the wonderful complete RU-vid videos.
This channel opens chance for online classical music listeners and provides lots of concerts. I subscribed just because I lived at there for 1 years, but I listened for the music and it was so great!!! I think that one of the greatest RU-vid’s merit is that we can hear various concert easily and without payment.
This performance is amazing in every aspect. I am playing the 1st clarinet part at Eastern Kentucky University. The clarinet player in the recording phrases/interprets every solo that he has beautifully. I take a lot of inspiration from him in my playing of this symphony.

This is a very dramatic and exciting performance of this great symphony, one that gives credence to the appellation "Beethoven's Tenth", to which it has been referred. The work has one of the most awe-inspiring introductions (31:10) to one of the most awe-inspiring melodies (33:22) ever written in the final movement, and this symphony is one of the glories of the symphonic literature.
Incredibly sad to see Andrés leave hr-Sinfonieorchester but I'm sure we are all grateful to him for the wonderful concerts on this channel and wish him well in Vienna.
This is also his last season with the Houston Symphony Orchestra. We will miss him as well. HSO just announced Juraj Valcuha as his replacement beginning in 2022.

Andrés Orozco-Estrada. Music Director Wiener Symphoniker. Music Director Houston Symphony Orchestra. Principal Conductor Filarmônica Joven de Colômbia. Principal Conductor Orquesta Sinfónica Freixenet de la Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía. An extraordinary Conductor.
Wow--I have read from other viewers that the orchestra's cameraman has something going for the principal flutist but it's obvious here: for the oboe solo line at 1:40 the camera is on.... the blond flutist. 😉
What a finely balanced account of this amazing piece. Great playing by all concerned! All the best to maestro Orozco-Estrada, I'm sure he will go on to do even more amazing things!
I’ve heard many orchestras present this popular piece in a stale manner, but not here. Always a fresh and exciting performance to listen to on this channel!
Great stuff! Thanks. Interesting contrabassoon, BTW! It looks a little like a cross between a typical Heckel contrabassoon and a contraforte. Well, much more like a regular contrabassoon, but a few contraforte aspects as well, like the bicycle-brake-cable mechanism.
Well, the main theme of the finale of the First Symphony is also reminiscent of the main theme of the finale of Beethoven's Ninth, and when this resemblance was pointed out to Brahms he replied that any dunce could see that! In 1876, when the work was premiered in Vienna, it was immediately hailed as "Beethoven's Tenth"!
This is a very dramatic and exciting performance of one of the glories of the symphonic literature. The introduction to the melody (31:10) and the melody itself (33:21) in the finale are among Brahms' finest inspirations.
