This video shows you how to bleed the brake fluid on a 10th gen Honda Civic using the Motive Power Bleeder system all by yourself. Flushing or changing the brake fluid should be done every 2-3 years regardless of mileage to help with improving brake pedal feel (firmer instead of spongy).

Nice job Sal! That Motive Power Bleeder is a great tool. Especially handy if you don't have another person available to help out with the job. Thanks for showing us that, and also how easy it is to use. Interesting and unique bleed sequence for the Honda. Nice to know in case I ever end up doing one of these. Nice wallpaper for your infotainment screen too btw! 👍

Thanks so much for the comment Alex! You always have great insightful comments in each video I see you in. You’re right about the bleed sequence, it is complete opposite of the traditional way mainly due to the electronic parking brake system by Honda. I’m glad I did this job myself since I went to an indie shop to get it done last time and I truly believe they didn’t bleed the brakes properly, just did the reservoir. It’s great to be able to do your own maintenance because I know for sure I will try my best versus a random independent shop.

Thanks Sal! When you said you did the whole rebleed of the system again towards the end after you engaged the ebrake 5 times, did you when back and open the valve of each brake and bleed until it runs clear and free of bubble? the whole entire 4 wheels (brakes)? so you have to do the entire bleeding process again? Just want to clarify since it will be my first time doing it on my civic 2018 EX CVT. Planning to do transmission oil as well. I have seen a video where a guy just open the valve on both of the bottom of the transmission where one of them you can empty it and the other one is for filling in the oil. the guy said the second valve if it leaks oil slowly and that means it is full. you dont need to check for the temperature. thanks!

I dont understand fror the motive pressure container, where does the air escape as you pressurize the container? Does the air not get pushed into the master cylinder?
@Sals_Garage
@Sals_Garage 11 месяцев назад
That’s a good question for the company. I don’t know the specific science behind how it works.
@waverider5751
@waverider5751 4 месяца назад
No, the fluid stays in the bottom of the vessel, the air stays above, and when you pressurize the air above the fluid, it forces fluid only through the bottom of the vessel through the drain fitting at the bottom. No air can be pulled from the surface as long as the siphon tube stays submerged. When he released the pressure from the air chamber inside the vessel above the liquid, air pressure above the liquid dropped, and it siphoned the excess fluid back into the vessel through the drain port in the bottom of the vessel. Air never mixes as long as you’re careful to bleed any air in the siphon tube before connecting it to the drain port of the vessel, and the brake master cylinder cap adapter. Hope this helps, it’s a vacuum chamber , the physics work!

I recommend use the "dry method" with the power bleeder. You are suppose to change those Power Bleeder hoses like every year or so if I recall correctly. I heard horror stories where those hose got old and burst, causing brake fluid all over the car. Just fill the Brake Reservoir with fresh fluid, hook your power bleeder with no fluid in it and use it as the Pressurizer. Then take it off and refill the reservoir before it goes empty. Now you don't have to clean out the Power bleeder or worry about the hose bursting. Also I spray down the brake nipple area with water or rinseless car wash. Sometimes there may be leaks from the brake bleed bottle tubing and where the brake bleed nipple is. If working on Type R Brembos, its good to rinse.
