As a long-time Chicago resident, I was returning home from several business trips and O'Hare landing traffic was stacked-up. The pilot let us know and gave us a 15 minute tour of the Chicago downtown area quietly hovering/circling/gliding over Lake Michigan until he was given the clear-to-land.. One felt as if one was a bird circling over the Magnificent Mile and lake. A once in a lifetime experience (drink in hand and enjoying the view).
I’m a Chicago resident too, hey did you notice he flew past midway airport in this video, man it’s so small compared to Ohare and that’s why I only try n flew out of midway!
Wow! From above, the city looks like a computer motherboard :). Huge city. Never ends. The plane was so quiet and took of in no time. Good Airbus NEO. Great planes.
Chicagos crime rate is over exaggerated. Its not even in top 10. Never was I even in trouble in all my years here and never scared of any neighborhood.
A friend of mine's Dad was a 747 pilot and when she went with him on flights as a kid he would let her determine whether they did a rolling or static take off.
Had this beautiful view coming into Chicago one evening, the city looked like crystals rising up through a sea of diamonds. An increadable sight for me as a tourist a few years ago. Regards from South Africa
I take pictures like that and everyone thinks I’m crazy, I stand up when the seatbelt sign is on to capture the moment. It’s exhilarating until you hit turbulence, and I drop my phone 😂 thank you for sharing
I'll never forget my 2 hour visit in Chicago last year. On my way home from Michigan quickly stopped in the city and went to the top of the Sears Tower like I wanted to. There's just one thing I need to do when I go back. Eat some pizza.
Great footage of the ascent and city lights, amazing city grid. This reminds me of when I was a kid and we would fly from St. Louis/Midway to Islip. Loved the night take offs, especially the steep ones where the plane banks to the side and you can look straight down thousands of feet onto the city lights while feeling the purr of the turbofans.
The very first time I flew on a plane, it was out of O'Hare, headed to Orlando. I lived in the western suburbs and I still distinctly remember flying right over my house. I even remember what my little mind was thinking "If the plane crashed now, everyone would land in our pool!"
Those airbus planes are very powerful, but also remember too, it’s winter now where the air is colder which makes the air more dense. That makes it easier to generate the lift needed to take off.
@@jerrypolverino6025 Yes liekly so, but as I as said in my previous comment, it's winter, the air is colder and more dense, its easier to take off in that plus increases the climb performance.
Look at all those planes heading to the turn at the outer marker ! Wow ! My dad worked for United and I would fly SA , during the summer I would fly to ohare and hang out in Chicago for the day !
4:30 All those little dots of other planes landing, always amazed at seeing that lineup in the sky when I was working out near the airport (from sydney).
The Airbus A321neo in general is amazing! I flew on a couple of them across the Atlantic on Aer Lingus between Dulles and Dublin while traveling to and from London England for my family’s first ever overseas Christmas trip. I don’t recall seeing the snack bar onboard, perhaps I might have either missed it or Aer Lingus just didn’t opt for it like United did but either way, I had quite a smooth ride both ways. With Dulles being one of my 2 main home airports, I’ll have to keep an eye out for a United A321neo next time I fly out of Dulles
@@briananderson8428Grew up in Franklin Park. Many friends still in West and northwest Suburbs. Daughter lives in Lombard. I've been attending trade shows and doing business in Chicago for 40 years at McCormick Center and Navy Pier. Have you stayed at the Inn of Chicago lately? No, and you won't. It was a beautiful hotel after they remodeled it years ago. I used to love that area. It's a haven for illegals now. I used to have a sales territory and traveled Illinois extensively and was physically robbed twice in Chicago. Hundreds of times if you count the ridiculous cost of the tollways. Good enough for you?
@@OleMisss I always find it hilarious when people claim to know large cities with millions of people 'well' enough to characterize the entire place with one pejorative 😂
@@briananderson8428 I was in Chicago in 2021. At one point the piles of garbage were so deep on the sidewalk that the pedestrians had no choice but to walk in the street. But it was the thousands upon thousands of plastic bags flying around in the wind that truly amazed me. Like a modern dance choreography, dedicated to garbage.
It's so rare to hear A321neo engines put out a buzzsaw noise because of how powerful and efficient these engines are. They don't require the fan blades to spin as fast as older engines. You can hear when the thrust lever set climb power, the buzzsaw is gone entirely. On the older engines, you'd still hear the buzzsaw even in climb power.
Crazy how many "I can see my house from here!" moments I had while watching this! Like, Ooh there's Forest Preserve Drive! Ooh there's Harlem-Irving Plaza! Oh, there's Urlacher's face. Again.
that is when you realise how close graphics in microsoft Flight Sim are close to reality! This is so nice to look at; not surprising that aliens come visit us in their UFO lol
Very nice takeoff, the city looks beautiful all lit up at night. I have never seen red street lights before. It looked like when a road is heavy traffic or closed on google maps lol Also it looked cool all those other planes coming in to land lined up after each other.
Great footage ill be flying out of ohare again in the morning to Huntsville & imma film it for my little channel,,,Vegas is cool to fly in or out of at night also
I always am excited about take offs. It is a feat in itself if you think about it that such a big and heavy plane is able to get in the air in 30 seconds. The view from up above is nice but things seem to move so slow when you are up in the air. It gets real boring when the plane is in the clouds and it feels like you are literally standing still since since clouds are also moving at a fast rate.
