I always felt like one of Brandi's biggest strengths as an artist(and she has a lot of them, so it's a tough contest) is just how big a true fan she is of the music she chooses to cover. Listening to a song she's covering is always like being re-introduced to an old friend. It's not even that she always sings the song technically better than the original artist, but you can just hear how much she loves that song, and what parts of it spoke to her, and it just feels special that she's so unguarded about sharing that appreciation with all of us.
she is one of those blessed people that music flows from the very core of her being. when she plays/sings it just streams from her and embraces all those around her hugging them gently. most magical. i can imagine it would be quite something to see her live in concert.
Brandis the ultimate fangirl. She is such a fan of so many incredible artists and loves to not only pay homage to their music by covering, but she so often pushes for those she's a fan of. She brings them on tour with her. She includes them at her festivals. She had such a huge hand in getting Joni Mitchell back on stage. She helped to reintroduced Tanya Tucker to a whole new generation. She was one of the friends and artists who support Wynonna Judd after Naomi passed and not only encouraged her to go ahead with The Judd's farewell tour, but also showed up to sing with Wynonna at several tour stops. She's such a fan at heart.
Beautifully said! A time when the world travails... Oh that music, the heavenly language of the heart will unite & heal. Brandi is called to the " mission field." Keep singing, Brandi.🎶
Heterosexual, female here and it doesn’t matter because we are all fans of Brandi Carlile. She is gifted thank you so much for sharing this fantastic video of her and her wife singing. I listen to this video over and over and chuckLe each time I hear it
@@chgome I can't even imagine where you thought I was angry 🤦♀️😂There are a lot of things to be angry about in this world. This probably isn't one of them . I'm just confused as to why people feel the need to shout out their sexuality in every comment about a music video because the singer happens to be gay.
"If you wait for me Then I'll come for you Although I've traveled far I always hold a place for you in my heart If you think of me If you miss me once in a while Then I'll return to you I'll return and fill that space in your heart Remembering Your touch Your kiss Your warm embrace I'll find my way back to you If you'll be waiting If you dream of me Like I dream of you In a place that's warm and dark In a place where I can feel the beating of your heart Remembering Your touch Your kiss Your warm embrace I'll find my way back to you If you'll be waiting Oh, I've longed for you And I have desired To see your face, your smile To be with you wherever you are Remembering Your touch Your kiss Your warm embrace I'll find my way back to you Please say you'll be waiting Together again It would feel so good to be In your arms Where all my journeys end If you can make a promise If it's one that you can keep I vow to come for you If you wait for me And say you'll hold A place for me In your heart A place for me in your heart A place for me in your heart A place for me in your heart" Source: LyricFind
I saw Brandi Carlile in Seattle before she made it big at a Garrison Keiller show. She and the twins were fantastic. My husband and I fell in love with her voice then and she's not disappointed since.
Brandi toured for years on the hard end of the business. Any of us that happened to work a show with her knew that she was going places. She is really that kind and gracious. How an artist treats local crew is a huge bellwether of what type of person they are.
Witnessed this from front row center that magical evening❤🫶❣💋 The talent, intimacy & 90% of the shrill hoots…they be me. Never to be forgotten. Just treasured. Love beyond swooning
Tracy Chapman is one of my favourite folk-orientated singers. I own her debut album as well as New Beginnings. Brandi's version is like the romantic wind rushing through my veins.
Thank you, Brandi. I've loved Tracy around 1989, and especially this song, and when I was in the Navy in 1993 and had to go on a deployment without my love. I am so grateful for your cover.
Be even better if Catherine could stay in key and stop pointing the damn mic at the monitor. The ME was probably shitting biscuits. Love Brandi since I first saw her almost a decade ago. Never had the pleasure of working on of her shows.
Brandi, I am so happy for you and all your successes. I met you at a little venue in Denver a long time ago and had to wait to meet you to allow children to come up first. Lucky for me, there were no kids at the show and my friend and I were next in line! You know Edie well! You are an amazing champion for women, and all underserved people on our planet. Thank you for being the force that drives you. You can lean on me.
So, will imagine if Brandi and Tracy collaborated on some music. Catherine and Brandi covering this is so gorgeous and beautiful. Just goes to my heart and soul.
This song has had a special place in my heart since Tracy Chapman first released it. Then Brandi & Catherine performed it some months ago and the obvious love between them made it even more special. Now THIS, with the intro story and an even more nuanced performance... I mean WOWZA!
Beautiful, True music is the language of the heart, crossing all boundaries imposed by humans..... on themselves and others. Brandi has been gifted from a realm beyond the earthly ....a place we ALL aspire to be......A realm of perfect love, peace, beauty & acceptance... A Free Gift From God. Thank you, Brandi & Catherine! So Beautiful Ladies Well Done! Getting Better and Better, I heard this in Durham NC on my Birthday 10/07 it was such a treat! THank YOU for your commitment to Excellence!
I've really enjoyed over the years watching Brandi Carlile grow and become someone, along with most likely the most famous person to come out of Enumclaw. I remember in Early 2000's Enumclaw High School held a school Musical Talent Show, Brandi's sister sang, Brand accompanied her on Guitar and harmony - they were amazing then. She wasn't known at the time but you knew she was going to be big.
