@SpencersMountain we use bulk chainsaw chain to make several ripping chains to fit a Stihl MS 462 with a 28 inch bar. I use an 1/8 inch bit to center drill the head, then use a automatic center punch to break off the head and drive out the chain link. Then a rivet spinner is used to form a factory style head on preset links to make complete chain loops.
Making your own chain from bulk chain has a lot of benefits, special lengths, types, and repairs are all possible plus cutting cost of chains to half or less.
