What a sad commentary! Forced to hire a coach he didn’t want. Forced to draft a player (K. Hayes) he didn’t want. Now to have the blame placed on him. I’m glad he has left. Now he is free from just having a title with no power..
Why do people treat arn tellums involvement as some kind of deep conspiratorial puppet master working behind the scenes to the detriment of the team? I get the argument that there might be too many cooks in the kitchen, but he's the vice president of the pistons, a part owner and someone with deep connections across the entire NBA. Of course he's going to have a strong voice and use his connections to try to help. I'm not an apologist, but I get bored with the lazy fab takes that tellum is somehow the scapegoat for what's been happening. I'm sure he'd accept he's a part of the whole organisational failure we've witnessed, but people seem to use that as a way to ignore how incompetent weaver has been at his job. I'm not going to list the moves, but would suggest looking at RU-vidr kofie's recent post, which does an excellent job detailing the mismanagement under his watch.
Tell em should have decision making authority. Tell em should be criticized for scapegoating Weaver for decisions Weaver opposed. If Weaver tells the truth he won't get another GM job. Will Telem/Gores come clean about Weaver's actual decisions??
@@kcowan79 I don't buy that narrative. He had plenty of chances over 4 years and stuffed up too many times to count. To wave them away as not his responsibility means you either have incredible insight into the inner workings of the organisation that no one else seems too or you're buying one of the perspectives of the media you consume
I think it’s a little of everything. I do watch and read a lot of news source and I do not have any inside info. But I do research. @detroitKoolaid is an inside writer for Detroit sports. He said the same thing. Troy’s last press conference said exact words “ said there were a lot of things at play that was not in my power , but we aren’t going to play the name game we are just gonna move forward. “ he was speaking about Killian Hayes ,late trade , not moving off Bogey. They blame Troy for bringing in the European players with wasted 2nd rd picks and never playing . All Tellum clients. I’m not saying he didn’t make some bad moves. Marvin Bagley , James Wiseman, Josh Jackson. But he didn’t have power. But you have to admit bad luck played into this also. 3 x 5th pick. Missed Paulo, Chet , Jabari, Wemby, etc. And injuries was real. No Bogey, Jalen, Morris. Not wanting Monty and front office going over him and paying him record dollars. He did pick 2 rookies that made the all rookie team. But what ever it is. It’s over Now. Looking forward to the new regime. Let GO Pistons!!
Troy and the Pistons part ways. This team is in a much better position now compared to when he arrived. Cade Cunningham, $64mil of cap space, and a wealth of young inexpensive players. Now I hope Trajan is allowed to do his job without being undermined. He's hiring his own GM and hopefully he'll also bring in his own coach.
