2023 - 2024 Season New York Islanders vs. Montreal Canadiens 1/25/2024 This is my second channel that will focus only on NHL content. My main channel is over here. / @trancexzero
Habs fan here. Absolutely can't defend Gally on this. This was disgusting. A multi game suspension is in place. This should be 10-15 games but will be 5-6 in the end which is not enough.
I am a habs fan but when I watched the game and I was so mad. There is no place for hit like this in hockey. Gally need to be suspended for at least 7-8 games. Dirty hit.
My dad loves Gally and he is so angry right now. He hates when guys “try to kill each other” like that was the definition of unnecessary! Whyyyy you’re up 3-1 everything’s fine why in the world would you do that.
LOL 3? Try 10 or 20. That has no place in this game. You could say Scott Stevens made his living from hits like that but he used his shoulder and even that is outlawed now. There just is no excuse, no excuse! for that kind of play in the game.
That’s a bad hit. Better be at least a 3 game suspension. I’m an oilers fan I have no bias against Montreal as a team just a hockey fan and that’s a brutal dirty hit.
As a habs fan I look at this hit and ask myself how many games if that hit was on a star like McDavid? Pulock deserves the same respect and Gallagher should get 5-10. Gallagher doesn't have a track record of dirty hits but if he wasn't as small of a player as he is this could of ended a guys season.
@@user-jy5tr5rl6i yeah I mean 10 is extreme for first time offender but I could see 5 easily it was a brutally bad hit elbow right to the chin and he chicken winged him too just awful.
@@user-jy5tr5rl6iI’m an oilers and Habs fan as I watch with my dad. We love Gally and his grind of how hard he is in the corners and always go to the net to score the greasy goals. He is so mad right now. He absolutely hates big hits and this was horrific. Just a dumb unnecessary decision. I do not understand at all why he did that
Habs fan here ! No we are not stupid like some other teams fans think we are. I am perfectly fine with any suspension that the league will judge fair to the hit of Gallagher on Pelech.
Its crazy to me how fans sometimes try to argue hits from their team like those arent dirty, gally has been one of my favorite players but I dont get that one, he's getting suspended he 100% deserves it
@@macrost8935😂 clean hit to the body. No initial contact to the head. Shoulder to Shoulder. Elbow was tucked in. Skates never left the ice. Didn't take any extra strides and glided into the hit. Textbook open ice. Learn to keep your head up. Go back to watching soccer. Islanders Should have been called for interference
I have no idea what drives an experienced player like Gallagher to throw such a hit? 8 mins to play, up by 2, and he throws that hit? It did cost them the 2 goal lead and almost the game. There`s nothing to discuss on that one, high, elbow to the head, late. Dirty and a suspension will follow.
have you played hockey? it wasnt a elbow, shoulder hit with an arm follow thru, the puck carrier was leading by his chin he could hit anywhere else. Like where is keep your head up.
@@zaqwsxcde67 I played, and if you played looks like you lost eyesight. No discussion there`s an upward movement. That`s just a dirty hit. A stupid dirty hit.
@@zaqwsxcde67 with this angle and that late, i doubt that it will ever result in a good hit. It will always be borderline. If you throw a hit there, just ensure you don`t make it a headshot? Funny how you`re literally the only guy trying to defend Gallagher...
@@avecaesar8519 hahaha, you`re trying to lecture someone on hitting after a stupid comment on a hit that got a 5 game suspension which many thought was not enough? Really? What kook are you? Ever played?
I know a match and a game misconduct penalty are in practice almost always the same thing but a match penalty was the right call, even if it was only symbolically harsher than a game misconduct. That is appalling.
@@macrost8935 you think when it's costing a player a brand new car to commit another dirty hit on a player he won't have second thoughts? The current fines are only a couple thousand dollars.
Personally, I like it when they call a scrum "a little extracurricular activity". But yeah, that's the nice thing about hockey; it's rough enough that commentators are prepared to have witty remarks about it when things get a little bit (or a LOT) heated.
@@nicolasdaoust28 so… they didn’t show the replay of the hit they were reviewing? I’ve been to division 2 college games that would at least show what happened 😂
@@DavidVandemark No they didn't, this is why I had to look it up on RU-vid. I was surprised they didn't replay it too, maybe because the Isles player was injured by the play
@@johncirillo9544 Dirty? Annoying yes, dirty no, that hit was, but I cant remember gally pulling somthing like that before, but that hit 100% was dirty ill give you that
Yeah, I only like ONE player on the team, just that one guy in the entire 40+ years of being a fan, I liked him even before he was born... You know you can like more than one player. @@user-ru8ks2zx7e
@@macrost8935 I’ve lost count of the number of opponents he’s tried to castrate with his stick between their legs. The guy’s a weasel, in my opinion. After this intent to injure, shouldn’t the good people in Montreal be whining for legal action to be taken. Remember the Zdeno Chara uproar? Oh the hypocrisy.
As a lifelong referee, and Habs fan, it’s not hard to admit that was a stunningly horrific hit that deserves a suspension. Sadly for hockey, the league “player safety” department is a joke. This *should* be a 7-10 game suspension but if DPS is consistent, for a non-previous offender like Gallagher, he’ll get 2-3 games.
@@erect4e369agreed he’s really been the old Gally this year now that’s he’s finally been healthy and this was a terrible way to get himself out of the lineup when the team is doing pretty well and stringing together some wins
He's the only guy left from the Cup run in 2010. He's having a great year, but I have zero tolerance for cheap shots to the head. Players get traded so often, I don't even have a chance to know how good they are.
Hopefully Gallagher is able to dress next time they meet....there will be some problems, he lucky they tossed him out. Saved him from eating Martin's fists.
If the league wants these eliminated, as it should, this needs to be at least 10 games no questions asked. If not, is there anything that gets you a suspension that actually stings and works as a deterrent?
This needs to be a minimum of 5 games. I don't think Gallagher is a repeat offender, so I don't think it warrants more than 8 games. It's hard to say with the DoPS being so inconsistent.
That's a 3 to 5 game suspension, for sure. Probably accompanied with a decent fine as well. Fortunately for Gallagher, it doesn't look like a season ending injury for his opponent!
Isles fan here... Pelech has had concussion issues before and the look on his face was exactly the same as last time. Got up looking confused. Don't expect him back for at least a month.
Regardless of the fact that it's reckless and dangerous, It's just a stupid thing to do when you have a 2 goal lead. After his suspension, he's a healthy scratch for a few games, IMO. Give him a chance to think about how stupid and selfish a play that was. Without knowing his history, I'm thinking 3 games (if no history), 5+ if he's a repeat offender. Also not sure when the current CBA wipes his slate clean.
I get that the hit as illegal- but the problem with the nhl is guys aren’t expecting to be hit In the 80’s and even early 90’s guys had there head on a swivel. NEVER skating through the middle of the ice without looking around to see what is coming at them. And btw I absolutely hate the Habs so it has nothing to do with the team. Every team has players that don’t expect contact.
The elbow lands right on the button. Hell, it easily could have knocked him out because it was clean. Based on Gallagher’s reaction, one might suppose that shot was not what he intended. But if it was, he couldn’t have executed it better. The call is a really easy one after review.
As Jack Edwards would say, that is Cheap, that is intentional, that is outside the rules of the game, and that is delicious video for the boys in New York. No place in the game at all for that. That is one of the dirtiest hits I have seen in a while.
I am a Habs fan and saw that incident. Galley needs to sit a while as this was totally unacceptable. As long as the NHL referring will look like WWE officiating these kind of events will continue. We need refereeing that is consistent and not directed by Bettman’s (McMann) office. Make hockey a great sport again and stop treating players like expendable commodities. Once several bad actors get thrown out of the league, the others will fall in line.
Habs have gotten so many headshots done against them this season. Now I'm seeing 10 games and 25 games for this LOL. Okay bud. It's a canadian team. Don't worry. He'll get suspended and probably be made an example of. Bro saw Gally coming a mile away but EH! 5'9".. what's the worst that can happen? Had this been Slafkovsky, everyone and their mother would tell him to keep his head up. Also Gally got his jaw broken with a crosscheck that went unpunished. That would be a good conversation to have with the DOPS if and let's be honest, when they do call.
Respectfully brother, you sound insane trying to justify this kind of hit. This has got to be one of the most clean cut examples of a headshot that I have personally seen all year - maybe ever. He ONLY made contact with Pelech's head, and it seems to be 95% elbow on top of that. You are right, Pelech could have been more aware, and that may have avoided this circumstance. This collision was not a result of Pelech's lack of awareness leading to a monstrous clean body check where the argument is that the other player should refrain from hitting him that hard (the dumb Slafovsky argument) it lead to a gross headshot. Take the homer glasses off, defending this hit is straight up embarrassing - even for a habs fan.
@@xRawPower if that's the worst hit you've seen this year, you've missed many highlings and games. You're welcome to browse comment sections on similar hits and compare. As the great JCVD said. You must be aware... long look to see that beautiful pass can end up in a collision. Not excusing gally notlr defending him. He was going full speed (his anyway) and it ended in a bad play.
@@patdro1662 Not the worst hit, the worst headshot. Obviously I have missed plenty of highlights and games, I'm not superhuman, lol. You just don't see guys make this kind of direct head contact as much as you used to, especially someone 5'9" who has to leave his feet to do it.
@@xRawPower Nah nah nah. I'm not trying to justify jack shit. I'm going about the standard the NHL has implemented. I'm insane?? Loll. What's good for Mama is good for Dada. Habs have suffered several headshots, all of which went unpunished. "He placed himself in this position" or "He should've kept his head up". All justifications that the league CLEARLY agreed with since nothing happened. Why should this one go punished when the other 50 haven't? Is it a headshot, yes. Were the other hits previous to this one headshots too... Yes. Where does the league draw the line besides, who gives a shit, it's a canadian market. Hit them where it hurts? Do I think Gally's gonna get suspended? Oh hell fuckin' yes I think he is. Absolutely. Had he been playing for Florida, would he then? I don't think so.
Montreal has turned into Boston... Great. Completely unnecessary. That any fan booed at him getting thrown out of the game pisses me off. That was dirty and gross. If it were up to me, I'd ban him from playing in the NHL and I'm a habs fan.
