@@GraemeGunn It's phrased as "He's steamrolling the competition" it means to crush with overwhelming power, usually in a manner in which opposition has no impact on the advance of this force. No one says "that's my giving up completely" either, they say "I am giving up completely" which gets gets changed to "I am steamrolling" which people also say.
Agreed. Giving up completely would be *_not_* repeating the entire sentence, replacing every acronym with the thing he said the acronym stood for. And accurately, no less
I think Katie was supposed to come off as if she was testing Brennan's sports knowledge, which is obviously lackluster, and that was the joke to end that bit.
@@BirchWeber they have a script that they have never seen before, but sometimes the script calls for improvisation. You can see it along the bottom word for word
@@zebragoboom that's true, but could also be said of Brennan, thusly my question remains In fact, what op says about Brennan could also be said of someone who doesn't break _at all_ , so again, question stands
The ACTUAL translation: "Jones was nearly disqualified, after the heavyweight used Brazilian jiu jitsu to knockout Bills, but in a unanimous decision the Ultimate Fighting Championship said the takedown was okay." Also: Such sport, many acronym.
This was the episode that made me realize that not only was MMA such a niche sport, but even combat sports in general doesn't filter through every fandom. A lot of these terms like DQ and HW would be familiar to say, boxing fans, or even fans of pro-wrestling.
Heavyweight I can understand but disqualification isn’t even just combat sports, I just think brennan is so far from sports even somewhat reading on his radar
DQ is definitely a shortening a lot of pro wrestling fans would understand. I think HW too since a lot of titles are called "World Heavyweight Championship" or WHC for short, even if most of the time weight divisions don't matter at all in wrestling.
@@lynkrig5635 Thing is as Ian Peters mentions, he _has_ made sports references. He also worked in a bar, so he would've been exposed to at least some sports (plenty of bars keep their TVs tuned to sports). Perhaps this is a case of Brennan getting rid of even passing sports knowledge in favor of more bird facts?
They do have prompters so it's not like he had to memorize the letters, their order, and then recall what he said for each one, he just had to look at the screen and remember what he said 5 seconds ago which is way easier. That being said Brennan does seem to have an excellent memory judging by all the random facts he just casually throws out in conversations and jokes.
@@sardoniclysaneyeah, but his improv was pretty obvious stuff that was vivid enough to remember. DQ? Dairy Queen. BJJ? Blow job job. OK? Original Knife. I just watched the video for the first time and I remember that. He had prompts to remind him.
I really wanna see Brennan and Katie go against each other on game changer or something. Katie is probably the only person capable of matching Brennans energy with her own crazy
They have! There's an episode where they have to keep their heart rate down to get points, and it's hilarious. They've got the bird minigame on RU-vid where Sam basically tries to kill Brennan. 😅
Grant's face at the end was priceless. I wonder if Brennan realized that was what they might do (having him substitute the acronyms for whatever he said they were for) and so he tried to theme them all the same so they'd be easier to remember.
they used his weakness against him, sports, just like Katie's weakness is cocaine and Trapp's weakness is asking what happened to Pat, and Siobhan's weakness is gluten.
Once we have enough information, we can eliminate the entirety of the College Humor cast. The current ideal assassin would be a corn dog salesman at Fenway Park that also works as a narc for the FBI who’s due for a promotion into the violent crimes unit.
@@Acsense509 grants weakness is just making him do any physical task that requires small fragment of coordination, and he will somehow crash and break things, cause Grant is a huge clutz idiot (non-derogatory)
Are you kidding me? He wasn’t faking it? Yes, he was. Come on, how the fuck do you not know what DQ is? He was faking it. Unless his brain can only hold so much and everything else spills out.
I meant to give this a thumbs up three times ago. I keep watching this and then laughing too hard that something else starts playing before I give it a thumbs up.
Wow! I applaud him for remembering those acronyms . We used to play 'forward reverse' during short form improv, and man I loved/hated it. If you don't know that game, you improv a scene with 2 or 3 people, and the host can call reverse and you have to do the scene in reverse order, and when they call forward you have to start from where your line was and replay everything you just said forwards, and continue improving the scene.
Brennan's usually so quick, and more than a bit of a know-it-all. I'm half shocked that there was so many of those he didn't know and shocked the REST of the way at how he basically just gave the whole bit an "F*** You".
It’s super easy. He had the prompts in front of him and the words were silly and highly visual. DQ dairy queen, HW How would one get to the Dairy Queen, BJJ Blow Job job, UFC ultra fried chicken, OK orignal knife. That’s just off the top of my head, if I had the prompts in front of me I could say them all. Wasn’t one of them a uterine device or something? Making it even easier is how they link up because he was still on the same train of though when improvising, so he didn’t come up with wild off the wall non sequitur stuff. DQ naturally segues into HW and UFC easily becomes OK. And BJJ means you don’t need a UD.
Jones was nearly disqualified after the heavyweight used Brazilian Jiu-jitsu to knockout Bills, but in a unanimous decision, the Ultimate Fighting Championship said the takedown was “oll korrect” did this to prove a point to myself, have a nice day yall
