My school was so worried about lawsuits that we weren't allowed to touch any tools, all shop class was was watching the teacher make our projects.

I used to have a fun high school woodshop teacher and his name was Mr. Appel. Every morning when I or any of the other students would ask him what we were doing today, his response will always be "The same thing we do every day Pinky, try to take over the world" in the most convincing Brain impression. Out of all the classes I've had his was definitely the most fun.

Half of my woodshop year was the teacher telling us stories on how every machine can kill you.

I had wood shop in middle school for 2 years. One of my favorite courses. If you are still young, take a class like this (before it is too late)! My high school pulled the plug on all our shop classes. I had my accounting courses in the old woods room and thankfully I was able to still attend the dying automotive shop class. We had cars, lifts, real equipment, the whole nine yards. Guess what they did to the shop when I graduated? It became a fashion studio.

My shop teacher basically encouraged us to look at bandsaw accidents… yeah I saw removed fingers. Oh also one time he brought in a snake in a specimen jar. He was a very eccentric man but absolutely devoted to the students and I wish Mr. Graz all the best. Edit: one time I gave him a book of facts on the presidents and he was very appreciative

Woodshop was epic. I got really good at lathe work and remember going to lunch speckled in sawdust most every day senior year.

Haha this brings back memories. My year 10/11 woodwork class was compiled off all the drop kicks of our year. I remember one day one kid in the class was standing with a piece of wood just on the belt sander for 10 minutes. Me and my mate went up to him and were like what are you doing? And he looked back at us with a smile and said you’ll see. A couple minutes later he went up behind someone who was sitting down on the desk and put the piece of wood on the back of his arm and gave him 3rd degree burns 😂

I Loved Wood Class, Welding, Buildings Engines, We had Lots of cool classes that you could get a good job straight out of High School...
