And that right here is the power of music, just making us all feel something. Not only can Brian sing, but he was a great songwriter, including John Farnham's 'Don't you know it's magic'.
During the late 60s and early 70s, only a meagre percentage of music on Australian radio was actually Australian. Stations preferred American and British pop. So Aussie bands found ways around this by singing in American or British accents to fool radio stations that they were an overseas act. Another way was to give themselves American names. Mississippi was one example. This worked. Brian Cadd used both methods singing with a vague American accent. Of course, when neither of these worked, some groups just relocated to London to get airplay. The Bee Gees and Olivia Newton-John were some examples. Many Aussies only discovered a lot of great Aussie music later in the 70s when more Aussie rock stations became more common.
Ginger Man by Brian Cadd made its debut on *The Australian Top 20* chart on 13th November 1972 at number 19 it reached number 17 and stayed on The Top 20 for six weeks the song that was number one song that week when Ginger Man made its chart debut was Popcorn by group called Hot Butter *Popcorn and Hot Butter GET IT!!!!!!!!!* 😆
