it is traditional to wear your mother's or grand mother's wedding dress. that is why the dresses were so carefully saved.

Somehow it doesn't feel very possible that she applied for participation on tv show in order to try the dress on and to realize that it's not for her. This is scripted TV content, this being one of those moments. I think this show has poor lighting and vibe. I feel better atmosphere, softer lighting and more intimate setting would make dresses look better, like they do in some other shows, like Ireland, NY or Gok's. It's not all about lighting, but a great deal is. All these dresses here, even when different and special, appear to be generic and cheap looking. Please do something about the setting.

I love my mother's wedding dress, it could be easily mistaken for a modern dress, but she refuses to give it to me, since her marriage wasn't happy

@@wsfggf finally after all these years I found someone who agreed with me. Diana's dress made her look like a Disney character and not beautiful and timeless and classy like Diana was.

@@wsfggf Thank you for saying it. Diana was stunning, even with her height she was lost in that dress, and what's worse, it looked rumpled when she emerged from the carriage. It wasn't a triumph, imo. The Queen's wedding dress was.

She was probably wondering if she looked like that when she wore it! It's a dress that swamps a person I think. If her daughter had really wanted to wear it then it could have looked a lot better if they took off the puffy sleeves and the horrible big bow on the back.

@@cyflym11 true I hate the puffy sleeves but I have pictures from my childhood from 90s wearing puffy dresses and I cringe when I look at them 🤣

My mum had a short lace dress as it was the sixties so I was never going to wear that and though I saw it a couple of times when I was a child I don't think she kept it anyway. In the end I didn't have a proper wedding dress at all as it seemed over the top wearing one to the registry office. I only wanted a small wedding and we had a lovely stress free day with our friends and close family, but my ONE regret is that I didn't at least go and try on some wedding dresses while I had the chance to see what I looked like. It just didn't occur to me at the time.

She could make a couple dozen christening gowns out of her mother's dress with some polyester to spare.

@@fanfiction4thewin149 I definitely don't think he's wrong in the message he was trying to get across. But there was a nicer way to approach that for sure. Not to mention, money and budget can be a sensitive subject so to make such a comment at that time was inappropriate on his behalf as a professional. Also, why ask the question if you are not prepared for the answer? It is their job to work within the bride's budget she gives. Perhaps 1:1 privately and careful phrasing of the words; "you have to understand that what you're asking for can be really tricky to find in the budget range you've provided. But we're going to try our best". You have to remember these are professionals, sometimes David does not watch his tone and I find it quite insensitive from time to time.

@@louisee1267 I think he was actually being quite nice and said it in a joky fashion. The bride said she loved her Mum's dress with the train, which would be expensive and then she flipped to Kate Middleton- completely different! Both dress styles would be well over budget

It looked absolutely hideous on her. No one liked it, not even mom herself. It was mom. Not Katie. Now Katie got married. Not mom the Second.

But that would have changed the mom's dress to look completly different and if the bride disliked the dress with the changes made it would have been all for nothing. So this way the bride found her perfect dress and they still have the mom's dress to look at from time to time, if they want to. And maybe someday there will be someone else loving the dress as it is and appreciating that it is still in its original state :)

Because sparkle can drive the price up, I'm glad they had some in her price range.
