And so badly designed. You can't beat beautiful Irish lace, yet for some reason they always seem to be in old fashioned granny designs. Long sleeves and high necks are not just about design but its also about practicalities ie the weather. That's why it worth checking out Asian and Middle Eastern designers of wedding dresses where they do tend to cover up more and thus do more dresses with long sleeves and higher necks.

Depends on where and when wedding is. I also wanted sleeve slightly (not super long) but the white with the key whole made me look like a football player. Also the dress was warm enough so with out sleeves glad I went strapless.

it was the cut, though, not the lace. all of the lace dresses save one were fit & flare which made her look boxy. she needed that a-line skirt to balance her shoulders. i'm sure i've seen lace a-line dresses that wouldn't have cut her off at the waist.

Lace was not the problem. It was the shape and the fit of the dresses that looked bad. I think she would have looked really beautiful in a lace ballgown or A-line but dad's choice was really pretty too

Not always. Lace over the whole dress is tacky, I agree there. However, lace in it of itself; is not tacky. Elegant and delicate lace details on edges can make a big difference on a beautiful dress.
