Having bridesmaids wear different dresses in the same color is a wonderful way to respect each person's body type - and everyone feels happy and comfortable - what's not to like?

This episode is clearly at LEAST 10 years old. What you are doing is fairly standard now. I did different dresses in the same color and fabric (chiffon) and it looked very cohesive and everyone looked beautiful.

Right. I also did different necklines so my friends had a dress they all loved in my wedding 4 years ago. My best friend did that in her wedding 17 years ago. We were classy and it looked good. I’m surprised this is even an issue. Lol

Agreed! It is nearly impossible find one dress style that is going to flatter the figures of several different ladies at the same time, not to mention honor any of their personal religious or cultural customs of modesty. But, if you choose a color, a particular type.of fabric, and the length of the dress, and allow each lady to choose a silhouette and neckline that best suits her, everyone will look lovely and cohesive.

This is the first time I have disagreed with Lori. I don't think the mom and daughter need to compromise - the mom should back off and let the bride have her way. If mom's opinion is asked for, then she should gently give it, and then shut up. And I say this as a mom with daughters.

Back in the day (1969), I had an evening wedding with three attendants. They each wore the same velvet skirt and satin sash but in three jewel tones - sapphire, ruby and emerald - and they each chose a white, long sleeved blouse. The three girls had very different coloring - one dark hair and blue eyes, one Japanese, one a strawberry blonde - and in the candlelight, they were all beautiful, each different but all somehow matching. And they could wear the skirts again.

My best friend chose a color and each of her bridesmaids got to pick the top they liked but all had the same skirt (they were 2 piece dresses). For me, the maid of honor, she chose a skirt with a bit of a train. We got nothing but compliments because each girl had a top that best fit her figure and we all looked great. The bride was definitely the main attraction. Just because we had slightly different styles we all had the same color and since we picked out our own style we had no reason to complain, not that we would have.

@@realbutstillanonym3532 Sometimes people have 2 maids of honor if they can't pick or have lots of friends. But the maid of honor usually coordinates and is in charge of planning the bachelorette party and is more involved with helping with wedding plans. She usually gives a speech/toast at the wedding reception too. (Bridesmaids it is optional). She has a lot more responsibility than the other girls. Not all the bridesmaids can or want as much responsibility. And if you have a lot of friends it can be hard for everyone to agree. I think it makes things easier when 1 or 2 girls are more in charge (under the bride of course). Even if people might be jealous. Although for me it was easy to choose. Same with her sister who has very big breasts and so she asked for a boat neck and a short dress because she has really beautiful legs and she feels good to show them. So it was clearly a very good idea. Because we were all very comfortable and confident, so pictures during the day were amazing. I DIED when she called her mom Karen. My mom and I are more friends than anything as well since I grew up with my grandma. So it’s cool to see

I don’t see what’s wrong with different dresses in like the same color. My cousin did that for her wedding and it looked great. It’s a great idea especially if your bridesmaids have varying body types

I love the two different blue dresses next to each other. What an amazing idea

Every wedding photo I've seen from the past few years there are bridesmaids in different dresses and in the same colour.

as long as they are the same material and the same color, then the necklines should not matter, its what im doing for my wedding and my girls are all the more thankful for it. they all have different body type so it made way more sense for them to pick their own necklines for dresses

Can't find their social media but her father passed away in 2018 and there are some nice wedding pictures of the bride and her father in his online obituary.

No it doesn’t? I feel kind of bad for Karens honestly. The Karens I know in real life are very opposite to the stereotype.

For Alice, the bridesmaids should’ve sent her a pic of them in the dress they liked best so she could have the final approval. That way they for sure go together

I was a MOH in my best friends wedding and she let us pick out dresses as long as it was the same color and long. I thought it was super thoughtful seeing as we all had different body types

I just think they should remember one thing "They are your pictures girl, you are the one who is going to live with them".

I just got married in September and my daughter (now 22) was the maid of honor and I had 4 bridesmaids (one of them passed away before the wedding so there was 3 there) but each one wore a different style that they liked and the only thing I wanted was it to be blue and I think they all looked beautiful!!! We also incorporated a special flowers in my bouquet to have my best friend still apart of the wedding and I carried her picture on me as well!!! My granddaughter was in a white dress as the flower girl!!! And my 17 year old son gave me away!!!

The mum doesn’t need to be pleased at all, she needs to learn that it’s her daughters decision and not hers. She had her wedding, now it’s the daughters turn

My sister in law had 8 or 9 bridesmaids. All different shapes and sizes. She told us as long as it was black, satin, and a gown… we were good to go. And it came out GORGEOUS!! Just gotta stick with a particular length and material and you can’t go wrong 😊

Having bridesmaids and making them wear the same dress (or anything they didnt pick for themselves) is soooo mean and painful for everyone ...

WHAT?! This mother is "incredibly proud of my daughter" (with TEARS no less!) - for being decisive enough to select bridesmaid dresses?! Honey, talk about your privileged life! The future is going to hold some actual curve balls and heartbreaks, buckle up.

My brothers wedding, all of the bridesmaids had different dresses, all in the same color. Each dress flattered our different bodies and they were by the same designer, so the color matched

Going with different styles in a dark color will always work, esp if the material is like what the bride at the end chose.
