Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. ru-vid.comUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.
You are a genius!!Thank you isn't enough.I have an 11 year old MTD rototiller that would only run(badly)on full choke, then not at all.I ordered the exact part you showed, which I actually got 5 for about 8$.Took me about 15 minutes to replace, now it starts on the first pull and runs like a champ with the choke off!!I was getting ready to spend another $800 on a new one,so thanks again.
Thank you! Great video. The only video on RU-vid for this issue. You got straight to the point with the issue and fix. No 5 minute intro or other Filler BS. Took the carb off my toro 6.75 hp GTS mower, flipped it over after removing the bowl. Was almost maxed out. Compared it with a similar carb I had on hand and found the float to be slightly slanted. Put her on and ran better than it has in years. Damn corn fuel! Thanks again!! Ordered up a couple new needle seats to have on hand for the future. Great video! Thanks again!!!!
THANK YOU for this!!! This was my exact problem. Super concise video, exactly what I needed. $5 for the part from B&S. Amazon was cheaper but their shipping times now are astronomical, paid a bit more to get on time. Pulled the old gasket with a 90 degree pick. Didn't have a punch that size so I set the new gasket with a 5/16" allen key and a straight pick. Power washer fired right back up.
This was one of the best videos I've seen in a long time. Exactly my problem. I was always wondering why the choke had to remain on. This is a perfect fit for my situation. 5 starts all the way. Tx Also thanks for the part link in the comments.
Thanks for showing this! This is exactly my problem. The float sits on an angle and the motor will only run on choke. The only thing is the needle seat kit probably costs as much as I can get a carb for which is about $12. I'm going to first see if I can use heat to slightly adjust the plastic tab on the float to let it rise more. I'm not sure how this will affect the fuel cut off though. I'll come back if I don't forget and let you know what happened. If it doesn't work, I'll order the carb.
You can get just the needle and seat. If you can get the same brand of carb that is on there good. I highly recommend against a China carbs. They are hit and miss and you can spend more trying to get one right. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video! I cleaned the carb today, changed the spark plug, and now the engine only runs in choke and it drove me nuts. I will check this tomorrow and hopefully it resolves the issue.
:( no luck. The float was fine. I still have the issue - it feels like there just isn't enough fuel getting to the carb. I've cleaned out and checked the fuel line as best as I could; there is no fuel filter to clean - what else could I do?
@@garyellis4173 I did manage to sort mine out. I completely removed and cleaned the carb again, and realized that I had missed some gunk in the needle that comes out from the middle. I had just sprayed everything with carb cleaner, but this time I took a small pin and unclogged the little holes, they had not been cleared by the spray and so there was still not enough fuel getting to the cylinder. I also changed my oil - in case you haven't done that. The oil in the engine was horribly sludgy and must have been causing a lot of resistance. Once I changed the oil, the engine ran beautifully.
@@shyamaladdanki8457 Thanks for your reply. I'm just waiting on a new spark plug and air filter. If it still surges, the carburetor is coming off again. Thanks again 👍
@@garyellis4173 No worries. You know what - I forgot to mention that I did when I changed the spark plug , honestly the old plug looked good enough that I very much doubt it was the problem. If you haven't changed the oil recently, I would suggest doing that as well anyway. All the best!
I had this problem after changing out the Carb and Coil drain the gas tank refill with ethanol-free gas. Still same problem so only thing left to check was the fuel pump so I bought one of those. All along my problem was the vacuum was not working on the fuel pump to pump enough fuel. Check the fuel pump lines coming from tank and going to carb and the vacuum
@@TepcoCycleRepair ran a few logs to hot rite now gota wait for shade great fix.thanks again. is the new seal elthelnol tollarent? looked like brown seat came ou tred went in grove in .runs great
This helped! Pressure washer now runs without choking the engine. It still surges at high speed. The surging goes away under load, so at least it can be used now.
Awesome video exactly what is wrong with mine only problem is I cannot figure out what the model number is for the 8.5 hp that I have on my log splitter. It’s a Briggs & Stratton and it’s the exact same carburetor that you have here could you point me in the direction of a part number the washer and maybe the needle thank you very much. Have a nice day.
I'm confused at 2:44. With the float dropped/lowered, it lets in the fuel. With it up/raised it cuts off the fuel. It seems to me you said just the reverse. With that rubber seat swollen as you said, wouldn't that close off the opening even while the float is lowered which is the normal position to allow fuel in?
welostourdemocracy Yes because I have the carb upside down when explaining that. So with the carb right side up, the rubber seat swells pushing the float down (so basically limiting the travel of the float) so when this happens the float only has about a mm of travel to let fuel in before it cuts fuel flow. I have seen some so bad that it will push the float all the way down against the bowl allowing no fuel in. Hope that clears it up.
Hey so my carb is slightly different, it looks like the needle seat is on the tip of the needle itself and I don't see any other seat material up in the fuel inlet bore. The "rubber" material on the tip of the needle doesn't seem swelled or mis-shapen but I am having the same issue where it won't run without full choke. The needle kit I need for my carb is available but I'm wondering if you've seen that style before and if replacing the needle might still solve the problem?
a quicker fix would be after ordering replacement rubber seal, take original and just cut it down to size but leave the center opening as is and it should work fine...
Unfortunately that wouldn't work, as the needle seat swells it also swells the hole closed so even cut short would only let fuel trickle in, probably not fast enough to keep it running under constant load.
@@TepcoCycleRepair My kit came with some extra parts so Im assuming it was for more than one carb. Anyway I installed the new needle and seat but the float still didnt come down flat so I tried pushing the seat down a little further with a 3/16' punch. That did the trick, put it back together and it runs like a champ! thanks for the help!
When it's on the mower and the bowl is off it will hang down. Just lift it gently with your finger and when you feel resistance, it should be parallel to the bowl gasket surface.
Good Video Question i have a NEWER Briggs 250 cc Snow engine 15c107-0014-f8 has the VITON BLACK RUBBER NEEDLE NO RUBBER SEAT !!! Cleaned the main JET , CLEANED the Emulsion Tube n Now runs surges , CLEANED the JET / Emulsion tube 2nd time ( this time Soaking main CARB housing in CLR 3 hrs / then soaked in Varsol 8 hrs !!!!!!! Still running Surge ( NOT AS MUCH NOW ) runs better 1/2 choke ?????
Joni English Sounds like it's starving for fuel. Make sure the fuel flow to the bowl is constant and free flowing. Then make sure the float height is right, if it's adjustable. If you didn't replace the needle and just cleaned it, the rubber at the tip may be bad and sticking to the seat, I have seen that happen more than once.
this motor has Black plastic fuel tank looks like lots of chambers , after the 1st cleaning the motor ran but surges , after the 2nd cleaning idles rough with choke off , runs smoother with choke slightly on . viton needle tipped looks smooth . the craftsman snow thrower sitting for 3 years with blown motor , had some green goo in the carb fuel inlet . i will try sea foam in the tank may be some fuel blockage , will post video soon
Joni English make sure your running a fine wire through the Jets, soaking is not enough. (You may have done this just didn't mention it) these carbs are not very complicated so just make sure the Jets are getting free fuel passage.
I have a Briggs and Stratton mower that has the float on a weird angle and it starts first pull and purrs like a kitten...I'm not an expert but what I saw
@@TepcoCycleRepair if it starts right up and runs correctly, what is the purpose of doing that?....I have a Tecumseh motor with a brass float and uses a tool to set the height of the float it it still floods after installing a new seat and needle...I'm going to rebuild the entire carb and hope it works
@@johnritchie2607 If the float sits at an angle like I show it only allows enough fuel in the bowl to run on idle or light loads. As soon as you throttle up or put a load on it, It doesn't have enough fuel in the bowl to keep up with the demand.
@@johnritchie2607 Looks like your first question got cut off so I may have missed your exact question. If it's leaking fuel it could be a stuck float, damaged needle, damaged seat or debris stuck in the needle seat, this last one happens from junk in the tank or a deteriorating fuel line.
