Managed to get a box of sealed HN made .303 last week dated 12-3-45 all the way down in Australia. I’ve been collecting these boxes for years and always wondered when they were introduced, thanks for the info and great videos.

I have two 1944 H50s and one stamped 1945. A tenner each. Flea market and reclamation site. Also four H51s either 50s or 60s dated. Never seen a 1940s dated H51. Also held 9mm and .22 ammo. Had a big rant with reenactors a few years ago who had these on a pre-Normandy display! Made for late WW2 jungle warfare but never read they were used in Europe. Thanks.

2 years ago i bought a 1944 1000 round battle crate, i opened it the 303 rounds in bandoliers looked like they were made yesterday still shiny i shot 70 rounds i had a few click bangs, i am going to sell it off if i can, it is not worth shooting. i was told by a friend that even the wooden crate is collectable for a guys man cave.

@@historicmilitaria1944 yes you are correct...I never had an interest in the more modern British helmets, but I am waiting now for a ballistic nylon mk6 with cover, hopefully by monday, for the princely some of £21 and that's with postage🙂...how did that happen?...ah well better find a spot for it 😂😂

These are not easy to find in my area of Canada. I need one more H51 to complete the set. A lot of good information and display pieces there C J!
@historicmilitaria1944
@historicmilitaria1944 3 года назад
the h51 types seem to be more in demand by the reenactors, even tho they are more suited to a late 44 early 45 display

can you please tell me that in ww2 did British ww2 soldiers get clips attached to those 5 ammo clips or they had to reuse and save the clips or they came with every ammo supply box..?
@historicmilitaria1944
@historicmilitaria1944 2 года назад
Sometimes they saved the empty clips so they could refill them until they were resupplied with ammo boxes containing bandolieers of ready filled clips

How can i tell the date? Can you explain the stencil nomenclature
@historicmilitaria1944
@historicmilitaria1944 6 месяцев назад
The date will be physically stamped into the metal,other than that,the plywood inners will either be stenciled with ww2 or postwar dates,the metal outer box was continued after ww2 and may be physically stamped into the lid with a postwar date....it is explained in the video...
