I'm fixing the busted antenna in this video as well as giving a tour of the head unit and engine management tools in the Boosted Miata.

Very interesting to see your setup! Love the way how you connected your phone to MegaSquirt! That real time info right off of MegaSquirt, how cool is that! Very very interested in the upcoming MegaSquirt vids.. I want to switch to MegaSquirt some day, at least before my turbo build starts so that when I do go turbo, my ECU is already turbo-proof. Thanks for making this video!

MiataMods yeah, getting the ms first is the way to go. it takes time to get the hang of it.

Greg over @thecarpassionchannel has also done a megasquirt install, setup and tune tutorial for miata's (or Mx5's) that you could also check out (he has two boosted miatas). It could be another good information resource for you

try a 2 part epoxy next time, get some 80 grit sand paper. sand it, put epoxy all over it.... sand it again and give it a little paint also just bought that mirror

could I assentually ditch the whole headunit and the "hacking" (I don't have radio or anything) and slap anandroid tablet in there? then just connect blue tooth and see it on the ms app??

cheezy_popcorn yes, actually I'll probably do that myself at some point. I like this head unit because it is brighter than a tablet in direct sun.

I don't even have a radio/antenna anymore. I ran CAR-PC so boost and BOV is my music... plus my 15 yr old says no one but me likes my music anyhow >:) and M/S gauges were my screen.. Not sure I want to sync all this up again with my iPhone.. seems like more work...

Who knows, maybe I'll re-entertain selling the Car-PC, and go Droid tablet for my M/S (my laptop stopped connecting recently anyway, the roach)... I've got an un-boxed "free Droid tablet" sitting around doing nothing-- may as well put it to use. OH, PS: Looking forward to your M/S tuning vids!

Yes Melody, kind of. The CAR-PC sat behind my passenger seat (barely, it's big by today's standards). We hardwired for power, then obtained a touch-screen head unit capable of broadcasting to the PC. This goes back a few years, so at the time we ran a bunch of adapters n things... It had my Megasquirt car tuning software, some custom gauges, and even a little music on it..... Now I've seen things like unused older Tablets or Rasberry Pi units (check out Carberry channel) which would likely work better. RU-vid is looooaded with info and options here. Good luck!
