I got my cast off 5 days ago and found a printed version of some similar exercises on the net, which I have been doing, but they were not as clear as yours. Thank you both for showing me how they are done properly. This also goes for the finger exercises in the previous video.

Wow! Thank you for this video! I just got my cast off and was told to do "range of motion" exercises, when I asked what kinds they just told me to think about how your wrist is supposed to move and do that! This is so helpful! Thank you

I broke my wrist 6 weeks ago and just got my cast off today. Extremely stiff and tender. I can do minimal range of motion but it sound like all of this is normal. Keep up with the exercises as much as you can and it’ll get better with time. It would be weird if we could do everything the same as we can with the other arm, right away

Got full range of motion back! Wrist is as good as new. I think it only took a couple weeks for the stiffness to go away but I did start going to the gym right after getting my cast removed. Although I wasn’t lifting heavy weight with the recovering wrist, I think lifting anything from 5-10lbs did wonders for my recovery. Keep using that bad boy as much as you can and the muscle memory will bounce back in no time

In my case, It's been 4 weeks since I got the cast off but my ring & little (fractured) finger are still not back to normal. The doctor said I gotta do the hand exercises at regular intervals & not just at the end/beginning of the day. So I still don't know how much time it'll take for my hand to come back to speed 🥺

Hi Bob & Brad Thanks so much for your videos. I've had my cast off three weeks ago. I'm in England & I didn't manage my post -cast expectations very well. I'm in my late 50s & had no idea that i'd be in such discomfort & would have such nerve pain & soft tissue issues. Your exercises are very sensible & I'm tackling them reasonably well. I was prescribed gabepentin but so far I'm managing without. Love you guys.

Thank you so much for this excellent demonstration. I fractured both wrists and have a lot of pain. Right is healing, left is taking longer. Will do these slowly, taking breaks (no pun intended) during the process. Hopefully wrists will strengthen again at some point. These exercises are helping so much. Many thanks, from Virginia.

I would love to do the exercises but cast off today and to be honest i was almost in tears from the pain even on gentle movement. I think these exercises must be for weeks after removal of cast . I am contacting my physio and will ask them what i ought to do. GP prescribed me codeine due to the pains, I never take painkillers ever. I think though the videos are really great and most helpful for the weeks/months to come thank you.

2 months ago I've involved with a motorvehicular accident and because of that my wrist got broken (distal radius, dislocated, closed, comminuted, fractured). I went thru closed reduction operation and the Dr. wrapped a cast from my wrist to my elbow. It took for 6 weeks before they conduct cast removal. Today my cast have already removed and the status of my wrist is 70% healed but I need to undergo therapy after a week. The Dr. gave me 3 exercises (move the wrist forward and backward, tilt the wrist sideways and bicep curls). It really hurts and I cannot tolerate the pain. However as the time goes by the agony will be lessen if I get used to move my hand. Thanks for the informative demo.

Hi Sorry for the late response. I say, it healed very well, it was hard and painful in the beginning but i did it consistently but slowly, not overdoing it. I was worried then because of the pain between the knuckles and the wrist and the pain pulling your hand sideways towards the thumb. I just continue with the exercise and after 2 months i saw great improvement . Wishing you all the best

You two are providing a super resource! The videos are very informative and clear. What Im having trouble finding on the internet is Scapholunate recovery plans for a partial tear ( i was told recovery is very slow 3-6months). Given how common this injury is it's surprising how hard it is to find information - most sites just get straight into surgeries available for grade 3 tears. I'm 10 weeks in with a removable brace - shall I start ROM and strengthening if there is little to no pain? Or is it best to give it another month? Many thanks!

if I got it correct, you do exercises above and try as much as you can and no one expected both arms work the same. The idea is your broken arm will follow another in the end motion by motion, and you'll get its functions back. It's my first day after 8 1/2 weeks, it is painful but I want it works.

Hi Guys, thanks for your advice and guidance on wrist exercise, I snapped my left wrist in February and have recently had the case off and metal work removed. Your exercise plan IE really helping my recovery. I have one question for you, do you recommend, or have you every used Powerballs as a treatment aid ? Many thanks.
@nicolneo2759
@nicolneo2759 8 лет назад
+physicaltherapyvideo hi Guys, I've been using the power ball since my cast came off ( 1 week 4 days), in addition to your exercises. I do physio four times a day, alternating between your exercises and the powerball. The powerball feels like mild resistance work and I can really feel my wrist muscles beginning to ache after a few minutes. Whilst I can't say for 100% it has done me any good, I can say 100% it hasn't done me any harm! In the last week and a bit, my wrist movement has gone from being approx 25% of normal to about 70%, and it's getting stronger and more flexible by the day. I'll drop you a further note on my progress in a week or so. Thanks Guys, Nic.

How long did it take to go back to normal
@suddendallas
@suddendallas 3 года назад
@@eddie4321 Well that all depends on your physical therapy. I chose not to go to physical therapy, but if you are consistent with exercising your hand it should go back to mostly normal in 2 months. I was having some people tell me wait 12 weeks before starting strenuous exercise like push ups. It also depends on how much of a risk taker you are because even though I know it's fully healed at this point I still feel like if I crack my knuckles it'll shatter or something. xD
