Brother 1034D vs Brother 1034DX Serger / Overlocker Machines 🧵 | Unboxing & Comparison 🌟 

I'll tell you what you ordered. The Brother 1034D is for left-hand sewists with left-side knobs, and the Brother 1034DX is for right-hand sewists with right-side knobs. Since I'm right-handed, I bought the Brother 1034DX. 😉🤗

I bought the dx. It's a heavier machine because of the metal which means less shaking when you're going fast. The lever that moves out the innerlooper makes for an easier threading. It comes with two addition feet. I like that the threading is also in order. Also, got it on a sale. It will do everything I need it to do. It does have differential feed. Easy to move the knife out of the way. All in all, I'm quite pleased with my purchase.

It's nice to see a brother sewing

To rethread a Serger or any machine. Just attach new thread to end of old thread and slowly pull through! Walah threading just took 2 minutes. Works 95% of the time.

I have the HuskyLock 910 it's getting old but still works like a charm.

I'm trying to troubleshoot my serger and got distracted by the beard and cuteness smh.....cute and you sew...goals!!!

Hey thanks, for your review on both machines.....I did light-weight research and found the 1034D was one of the best for the price. I didn't know there was a newer model. I just bought a new sewing/embroidery machine, a Bernina B770 QE, I love it, I've been doing a project, a women's 50's costume and the material is super light, like silk, and fray's on the edges like crazy. Sewing straight stitches is good, but when I do overcasting it's a bit challenging on my new machine. If I had the D or DX, it would've saved me so much time. After your review and the research I've done I believe I'll get the DX, hopefully, Brother listened and improved the serger. Thanks again for your contribution.

Excellent video!!!! I’m a guy learning how to sew from the wife to start our own business. Just purchased a Baby Lock Triumph right from the start. I couldn’t get the threading concept on these sergers so I was sold on the air threading on the Triumph 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️😂.

I got the 1034D from Amazon. It arrived yesterday and I fell in love with it all over again. Many claim it is discontinued by the manufacturer but I do not believe so. It is manufactured in Taiwan for brother. My SE600 was manufactured in Vietnam and both came in Brown boxes which I prefer to the white coloured boxes from brother. I prefer the D to the DX for weird reasons lol. I prefer the shape, the size, the curve of its free arm and the button settings, yeah I am right handed but I don't mind the button positions. I love the notches on its tension dials too and the fact that it has no button or dial in front unlike the DX that has one around the loopers/knife area. To me, 1034D wins hands down despite it's kind of lighting, who cares I have my other LED lighting systems that can aid my sewing at night lol. I hope it doesn't disappoint me though but the wonderful reviews about it gives me hope. Wish me luck. PS, thank you for your awesome videos always. Keep it up and keep them coming. *Thumbsup*

I had both. I wanted to upgrade my D to DX. I took the DX back. It wasn’t better. I love my D and don’t mind changing the bulb

I started to buy the 1034dx today but one thing was bugging me. The LED that supposedly never needs changing. Last night on walmart's site, some dude stated that his LED had already burned out...and I know they do. So, i contacted Brother to ask, can you change out the LED if it burns out, or do you have to take it to the shop? Is it covered under warranty? Answers I got: The light cannot be replaced at home. You have to take it to a service center. The light may or may not be covered. It's up to the service center if they want to honor it. Called service center...told them model#. Ah! It's one of those cheap models! Yeah, it might be cheap, but how much do you all charge to change the bulb in this? $35.00 (Which she later amended to $100 because the bulb is hardwired. So, I asked, is that covered under the warranty? She tried to tell me it didn't have a warranty and tried to sell me a $1k machine. Soooooo I decided to go with the 11034D because it has a bulb that can be changed. Walmart doesn't stock them but Ken's Sewing Center sells factory refurbished models for the same price $199, with a warranty and free tech support. ____ Remember the Christmas tree lights that burn out and the entire string is no good? That!

I wonder what other metal parts were replaced with plastic for the new version.... I would take metal over plastic on a sewing machine every time. They probably just came out with the new machine to make it for less and sell it for just as much or more.

Here I am, watching and captivated like a kid in a candy factory. I kind of like the look of the 1034dx, well, that series. Plus, there really have been a lot of videos made for the 1034d so a person would have a lot of resources to learn from. However, I have the Strong and Tough ST150HDH sewing machine, so I just bought the matching ST4031 serger. Not enough videos for the ST4031 serger, so it's an opportunity for someone to help out those new to sergers. Including myself. If I had a camera, I would be recording my journey with the serger to help people who don't purchase the more common machines. When I was considering the 1034d, I didn't realize that threading wasn't the same as the dx. Most people claimed the only difference was the light. But I can also see the dx has more rounded edges and corners, adjustment levers are different, etc. It's definitely interesting to see all the different Brother sergers, even though I already purchased one. I got mine because I frequently work with heavy fabric and want to do so more often. Thanks for sharing. I will see if there are follow up videos on these sergers. I assume you are only planning to keep one?

I just got the DX on the box it claims embroidery capability. Can you give any input on this?

Anyone have any bright ideas as to how to adjust the seam allowance on the dx? The d has a space to slip in the fabric , but the dx doesn't. I want to hem something the way you see one at the bottom of a T-shirt, with about a 1/2 " space between the bottom of the shirt and the line of stitching. I am completely stumped.

I was getting ready to get one of the two until two weeks ago I did some damage to my singer Serger and took it for repair is is 13 years old the first time I’ve ever need to get it repaired. While at the repair shop they have a sign up they no longer look at or repair newer singer or brother sergers. So I ask why is that? I was shown a room with at least 20 brother 1034dx and Brother 1034’s broken. So that was a complete turn off. I own 4 other brother machines but a singer Serger and was hoping to complete my machine family with a brother serger but I got the singer serger repaired. So do your homework a machine in the shop in need of repair do not make you money.

What in the world why brother designed the dials in not the order? It’s like they should put number on the machine to remind us! Thank you for making this video seriously! It’s a lot of money to mess up. Disappointed about how they designed their machine. Even it’s a great machine but they should have thought of this first place!

DX has a metal frame which I believe will hold up better overtime

which one did you keep? BTW, LEDs can, do and will fail at one point. The light is usually brighter and not as hot to the touch but they have a limited life expectancy.

Can you please make a comparison between brother Serger 1034dx and 1634dx. Don't see anyone have done this

Hi I need help. Just bought this machine off amazon. It didnt came threaded , so I threaded and put it on. It light up , you can hear the machine motors but it doesn't start . Nothing moves.

I just got the d because it can do 1mm rolled hems.

I have the 1034D and its been giving me threading problems lately 😿 Ive adjusted tensions and still no good it wont stitch properly.

I bought an overlock foot for my regular sewing machine. It works okay....but your cutting needs to be precise and it still is no match for a serger.

But metal is always better...

Does it have the USB port so you can embroider a design off of the USB?
