I wish I had found this yesterday. I spent hours threading. I am new to sergers. You are so clear with instructions. Thank you! I have subscribed and look forward to learning more.
This was just what I needed. My husband brought this serger for me several years ago and I never used it, its been sitting in the same spot for over 2 years. I pick it up, clean around it, like it's not even there. This video has given me the courage to turn it on and give it a try. Thanks again! :)
Thank you! I have been sewing for years but have never used a serger. I bought a Singer serger several years ago and never used it.....was WAY too intimidated. I ended up selling it in a garage sale. I bought this one today and you have given me the courage to unbox it LOL!
I just purchased this item..and Im glad you did this video because like you mentioned there are none for this model.yet.. I agree This model is user friendly and LOVE THE COLOR CODE,, & so glad they changed for threading to go in order..also..THANK YOU BROTHER for offering a lower cost product that is DURABLE..FROM U.S.A
You have NO IDEA how much I love you right now for making this video!!!! You're absolutely right about not many being made on THIS serger...... The ones I have found are 3-5 minutes showing but not saying anything!!! THANK YOU
@@MLR6171975 aww thank YOU. I've sewn for 47 years and have never even used a serger BUT I sew every item twice seems like because I always zizzag or have to change my presser foot for my overlock stitch, which isn't difficult but takes a minute then fake Serge every piece of ANYTHING I make and I sew a LOT!! I've watched your video several times and have it saved. Lol. I've been reading every review I could find for months and trying to decide which one I want, I keep going back to this one so today was THE DAY to make up my mind. It was literally driving me nutty. 🤣 I'm really really happy it popped up in my recommended videos again tonight. Thank you again dear
Thank you !! I was in a panic because my lower looper ran out of thread and I could not find my DVD that came with my 1034dx! You helped me get back to my Christmas project in no time at all. It was very easy to thread... with your help! Woohoo!!
Thank you for sharing just got this machine today my brother 1034d is currently in the hospital lol nah I need to adjust the timing and didn’t want to waste time fixing it so I lucked up today and found this one
Thank You 😊 Your video is extremely helpful by your clear description of everything You explained! I just ordered this machine and because of Your very Helpful video, I am very confident that I'll have a good experience with learning to use this serger!BTW, I subscribed to your channel so I can learn more from You!
Sierra Martin 4,4,6,6 but what’s even more important is that you PLAY. Try out different tensions on different fabrics and find a way to organize what tension works best on what fabric on your machine. Check out videos about this, some ppl mark their machines or put labels on them to keep track. Good luck and have fun! 🙂
Thank you so very much, I was overwhelmed when I unboxed it and found a different video on the brother 1034 D and yes it does differ from the DX model and being I was scared anyway those few differences made me panic a little. I found your video and it was calming and so helpful. I threaded it and made a table runner. Thank you so must, when you learn how to do the other stitches, I would love to see those too.
Heidi Willson Yay! I’m so glad it helped you! I haven’t made a table runner - great idea! I’ll post more as I use it - absolutely. Be sure to subscribe ;)
Thank you, thank you, thank you! There was no info that I could find on the DX. I was ready to give up because I could not figure out the blade and you explained it beautifully. I just subscribed to your channel !
Oh. My. Goodness. I echo the sentiments expressed so well already, and want to thank you again! Waiting for my DX to arrive to hopefully speed up my mask making. Please stay safe & well😷
Thank you so much for this video! I'd been watching videos for the 1034D and couldn't figure out why my machine looked so different until my blind butt actually LOOKED at the machine and saw 1034DX written across the front. Can't tell you how stupid I felt! (It was a gift. I originally asked for the 1034D but my husband is a god and got me the newer model) My threads kept breaking and was getting really frustrated so I followed along and threaded mine like yours and now it works perfect!
I did the exact same thing! Ordered 1034D online…got sick and after being totally confused by videos realized they sent DX instead, too late to exchange. Very grateful for a video on it!
Thanks for this video!!!! I finally threaded my machine after letting it sit for 6 months cause I was scared of it 🤣🤣!! I followed you to a T and it worked beautifully your the best 😘😘 I'd love to hear how you feel about this machine now???? Any ideas or tips you've discovered or problems you've ran into... I'm all ears and eye lolol
I'm so glad I found your video! I just bought the same serger, being this my very first serger and as well as you, I'm still trying to figure things out with the machine. What has not yet worked for me is understanding the tension and how every wheel modifies each thread. I see in minute 04:50 that you have 4.5-4-6-6. When I first opened the machine it was at 4-4-4-4 and it did pretty well formed chains, looked good but not perfect, some of the thread was seemingly loose at the cut of the fabric so I modified the tension expecting to be some easy thing to do and that I could go back if I didn't like it. But no! I just couldn't make it work again :( Would you be so kind to later address this topic in one of your videos? Thanks in advance!
Anyblacker Hi - I had no idea this got comments and views! LoL Are you still struggling with the settings? I was serging flannel pjs with those settings but I’ve heard each machine and fabric varies so it’s best to play around on scraps till it looks good then jot down those settings :)
Hello, it’s like most sewing machines, had a screw holding the foot. Do you have your owners manual? It should be listed. I’m not home atm or Id take a look.
Is it normal for the lower looper thread to hook on to the where the upper looper thread is? If that makes any sense please let me know. I’ve only tried my serger once and COULD NOT for the life of me figure it out
On a completely separate topic, does anyone know where we can find replacement knives for the 1034dx? Every time I search for anything regarding this machine, it is almost as if it didn't exist.
Erica Saldana I would call customer service for Brother. These two machines are similar. I’d imagine they might use the same blades but would call to be sure. I’d check the owners manual as well :) Good luck!
PEREZ0143 Hi, I don’t really understand the question. However, whenever it’s not working for me, I take out all the threads and start over. That has always helped me.
Oiling is VERY easy! On page 27 of the owners manual you'll see the 2 parts that need oiled. They're easy to reach so you shouldn't have a problem. I used the brush that came with the machine because I have an extra anyway and just put a couple drops of mineral oil on it and wiped it across the upper and lower looper arm thingies shown on page 27 of the owners manual.
