Aw man this is it, Happy birthday Wolfenstein 3d!! And a big thank you Zio for finally finishing the mod, I hope and pray for your future endeavors to go well and successful paths!
fantastick work Zio! I'm currently in the third chapter and I just love it. You absolutely nailed the atmosphere - dead bodies of Soviets, secret room with PPSH-41 and the ambience of the allies fighting the germans. You've raised wolf 3D to a competely new level. Now it really feels like a true story predecessor to RtCW. Thank you, well done!
I can't thank you and everyone who contributed to this mod enough! I suddenly became that 5yr old sneaking into my dad's PC and playing a game I wasn't supossed to be playing! Wolf 3-D was the first game I ever played and after that I went with Doom and never stopped being a gamer! Zio, the mod is above and beyond of what I could've ever hoped for, THANK YOU! It would be awesome to see some of the original devs play or react to this overhaul! I know John Romero would love this! haha!
This is such a good game, the best version of Wolfenstein to me, the game as it should be. Impressive job on rendering so much alive old-school levels and designs. So much love. I love it. ♥
Its feels like a blessing about your final output. Im gonna cry. Now Im gonna chronologically play the Wolfenstein series from Brutal Wolfenstein to Blade of Agony first. (If I can afford the rest of the series to olay it) Thank you.
played a little of it and I've gotta say this is a really amazing and brutal way of experiencing Wolfensetin and spear of destiny, and what you and the other contributors/helpers did was awesome can't wait too see other stuff ya do that isn't BWolf.
Literally stands on its own as a game. Zio, this is up there with RE4 Remake to me. My girl and I have been grinning and laughing like idiots playing through this. So good.
I AM SO HYPED!! Would be awesome if gmanlives revisited this now that the final version is out. I'll see if I can get his attention on his older video about this mod.
Ngl glad that this mod worked out so well. Been following since the more controversial early days and you’ve shown yourself and your idea well, honestly better then Mark IV did. Cheers to you on your next project.
Absolutely gorgeous mod. I have not yet reached the Spear of Destiny levels, which were not in the demo, but when I pass the Sod to the end, I will add this comment. At least I'm already seeing updated visuals of some weapons, new sounds, gore, smoother animations, and corrected balance. I'll come back when I finish the sod to the end. Happy birthday Wolfenshtein 3d and thanks to Zio for such a truly great job Upd: This is your mother's masterpiece, the last level in hell, scenes with doctors or where the Blaskovets lies against the background of a burning castle is gorgeous. Zio, you've outdone yourself
Ya know, minor criticism, but you could've had the scene where BJ holds the severed head do the old "Yeeaaaaaahhhhhh!" sound effect. Like I said, minor nitpick and it totally does not say anything about gameplay. Good job on all the hard work. Grab a beer or something. :)
Looks killer. Now we need a Wolfenstein Project Brutality and a Doom Wolfenstein crossover (WolfenDoom or Doomenstein) and the mod circle will be complete for Wolfenstein
Just played through the Spear of Destiny Campaign in this version and hot damn I loved almost every part of it. The expansions to that prequel story is really well done and SPOILERS.............. Having Doom's Hell at the end and a pre Cyber Cyberdemon serving as the final boss with the PS1/N64 Doom Theme playing over was absolutely, to quote both a certain Chainsaw handed man and a Sunglasses wearing man, Groovy.
I said this on ModDB,i might aswell announce it here. I WON'T WORK ON THE SPEAR OF DESTINY MISSION PACKS! You are free to make an addon yourselves, but i personally refuse working on them as i consider them to be garbage and are considered not canonical in Brutal Wolfenstein. I will, from now on,remove without an explanation any further request about them.
@@robowisanveithasung6022 The remake we never knew we needed. Is he he doing the expansion packs as well for SOD? I know the level design was a bit too cryptic, but I loved the use of color
I would like this to be modded with a version of survival realism where the enemies do as much damage as you do to them to you and add in the survival brutal doom element like it’s hardcore difficulty just not as many enemies but they do Maximum damage to you like you do to them and you have to take extreme care and caution and strategy like irl
As I'm nearing my third complete playthrough of Brutal Wolfenstein's final version, I'd like to come back here and give my thoughts. Pros: It's a fantastic mod. Excellent action, it really feels like a natural evolution of Wolfenstein 3D's formula, but with just enough modern influences to really stand head and shoulders above the original. It's almost like a link between Wolf 3D and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. The weapons for the most part, are fantastic. There are a few weapons that feel a little unnecessary, or whose function is a little off - the PPSh-41 is a little unnecessary, given the presence of so many other automatic bullet weapons, and the Tesla gun's muzzle flash is a little disorienting, and the flamethrower's ammo is REALLY limited, as there's a very small max carrying capacity, and you only pick up three fuel units per pickup. The grenades are a little off, too. The real world stick grenades were designed to have the stick so they didn't roll or bounce around as much, and they bounce around in the mod like they're made of rubber. There are a LOT of really satisfying things. Kicking an SS officer in the dick over and over until you tear something never gets old, and pulling out your 1911 and shooting a surrendering grunt in the head or cutting their throat with the knife is such a great feeling. The new additions are tons of fun. Secret hunting to find the black key so you can open a hidden door for a cache of weapons and ammo is really rewarding - I don't think I've ever secret hunted the way I do in Brutal Wolfenstein. The option to choose whether you want to include reloading or not is really fun - if I'm feeling like mowing down everything in my path without pausing to take a breath, I just turn reloading off. When I'm looking for something a bit more tactical, I turn reloading on. The different enemy types really switch things up. The original game only had a handful of enemy types, this really diversifies things so the game plan for every room isn't just "walk in and shoot until everything stops moving", you've gotta be a little smarter, and enemy prioritization really matters a lot more than it originally did. The height variation really makes the levels feel a lot more real. The original game was pretty much 2D, this really adds a lot of variation. The hidden AA-12 that can be accessed through console commands is amazing, really a lot of fun to just unwind with. Cons: The mod could really do with a ranged suppressed weapon - the suppressed Sten from RTCW comes to mind, and it could easily replace the PPSh-41 and serve a better function. The super soldiers feel a little spongier than necessary. All in all, I'd give this mod a solid 9.5/10.
Stealth in bw was never a priority and there is like only E2M1 where you quietly kill the first mutants. Super soldiers go down super fast with headshots or a single direct panzerfaust. There is even a manual that you can read in game that tells you these facts and you never, ever read it up to this point?
I do agree that the weapon roaster is a bit bloated but being the fact some of these guns have been for so long in bw, I wanted to avoid discontent by removing them In one patch I lowered the tesla gun particles, you may wanna re-download the mod The flamethrower is the way it is to compensate how powerful it is. I refused to lower its damage so I went to lower the ammo capacity. Grenades are boucy so you can throw em around corners
@@ziomccall4085 Oh, I get that stealth is never really a major focus, but it would be nice to have as an option if you want it. The level with all the guards where you have to follow the blood comes to mind. And yes, I've read through the manual, but at least in my experience, Panzerfaust and the M1 bazooka are both in extremely short supply, and in the later episodes, the super soldiers are in rather large numbers. I generally use stop and pop tactics to take them out, but they still feel a bit much, at least in my opinion.
@@ziomccall4085 I'll have to check out the patch, then. The Tesla gun is a lot of fun to use, but kind of blinding in the version I have running. It's almost strobe-like. Maybe I'm just not great with the grenades, but I almost always find that they don't go where I intend, and bounce back around corners at me. Even with all my complaints, it's still an amazing mod, one of the best ever made for GZDoom in my opinion.
I can't find any option to change the knight's axe from throwing to melee; or even to just select it by itself anymore. Was this removed? I looked through all the controls options. When I pick up an axe, melee throws it, and I can't find a way to toggle between throwing and swinging like I used to.
@@ziomccall4085Yeah, I see that. So it was a design choice. No worries. Absolutely loving 7. I was super psyched to see this was finished and released when I got the itch to play again. It's come a long way from 5.5, the first version I played!
