Yes, but the only physical priority moves (since flutter mane is super fast) are sucker punch (pretty unreliable), shadow sneak (can't touch normal types) and bullet punch (only scizor uses it)
@@yumnykiddd1312 toedscruels ability hurts so much. getting a detrimental ability is usually for pokemon that have good stats but for toedscruel its just to nerf its 1 op move. feel like it would be better without spore if it could atleast have a decent ability
@@limerumpus3589 not just better but the best. It would have been the fastest spore user with a lot of decent utilities like knock off, rapid spin, spikes, toxic spikes, screens, leech seed, etc. God.!!! We were robbed of an OU status mon. Even gholdengo would fear an earth power or knock off from it.
this is the generation with flutter mane, palafin, iron bundle, espathra, and annihilape, and brute bonnet is the one that gets specifically designed to not upset the meta
While also continuing to nerf Regigigas, even when Zacian in its debut generation had a higher Attack+Speed Stat, one of the best typings in the game (while Gigas is pure Normal), and not only a beneficial Ability but an amazing ability... (And before someone says its for inspiration reasons, why would the Doggo with a Stick in its mouth stronger than God Himself?)
A quirk of this is that Intimidate applies before Booster Energy, and that when picking a stat to boost Protosynthesis does consider stat stage drops. Thus, if your opponent procs Intimidate vs Brute Bonnet, it can get a Speed boost for fast Spores.
@@Chrjstheshadow you don't need to nerf your bonnet too hard to get a speed boost after intimidate, if you go max speed jolly you only need to drop the attack evs to 220 to have exactly 1 point of speed higher after an intimidate at level 50. Assuming I did the calc right since dmg calc doesn't show numbers for -1
@Brent Valliere miraidon and koraidon Zacian Mega ray Primals Shadow tag Tapus The new Tapus (mainly ting-lu) There are plenty of unbalanced pokemon on VGC, it's not just a singles issue
@Kronalord that's my point... Are you stupid? Literally my point was that sometimes Pokemon doesn't care about balance. There are plenty of examples of broken things being in VGC and in singles format. They have things such as the examples I've listed and more. Gamefreak could have easily made the pokemon less broken, but they chose not to. They could have easily made zacian more like zamazenta but chose not to cause they don't care. They could have easily made the abilities balanced but chose not to. Like zacian now only has 1 activation of its ability for the whole match. That could have been its original ability. Box legendaries can be good pokemon but also balanced. Gamefreak chooses not to do that
@@Repetoire Sleep is just a broken and dumb debuff purely because of how Pokemon is designed. The number of monster collectors out there with just as strong or even stronger debuffs is very large. They just make getting rid of the debuffs a skill issue while with Pokemon, getting around Sleep is a coin flip.
They did the same thing with buzzwole kinda, with its attack and defense stat at 139 and speed at 79, if you maxed out speed and lowered both attack and defense as much as possible, one of them will always be higher by 1 point due to Nature's only being able to negatively affect 1 stat, this was probably done so it wouldn't have the combination of speed beast boost and fell stinger
Something else funny is when stats tie, the boosted stat follows the descending order of stats, meaning even if it had 126 attack instead it would still get an attack boost over a speed boost with Booster Energy.
I think they also did the same thing to Toedscruel. It has Base 100 speed and access to spore but if it uses spore it always goes last because of its ability.😳 Granted it’s the only Pokémon that can spore Garganacl and Gholdengo but still 🤯
There's at least one, probably multiple ways to get rid of Toedscruel's ability to trade off the ability to put Gargy and Gholdengo to sleep for speed spores
Game freak taking into account negative attack nature 0 IV/EV example is crazy to me. Game freak typically doesn't pay attention to these sort of stuff.
@@CoralReaper707 Bibarel's gnawing chompers are definitely worthy of swords dance! My Simple Bibarel carried me against Cynthia in my water types only shining pearl run lol
@@lkjkhfggd Rest Sleep Talk, like back in Gen 2 if sleep really becomes a problem this strategy will pop up again. There's also a few stat curing berries as well.
actually, intimmidate can still trigger protosynth speed for brute bonnet. i've tried it- by dropping the ATK, speed is the higher number, so booster energy activates it instead. pretty sick tech but very very niche
Most paradox pokemon have strange, seemingly specific stats. All the past pokemon have all an odd number for each base stat and all future pokemon have an even number.
Bc the past pokemon are wild and a little unorganized, like a odd number, while the future ones are robotic and planned specifically, meaning they would get even spreads to their abilities
That’s 3 moves across at least two turns where a lot can go wrong, which balances it Turn 1 BB trailblazes, hoping it doesn’t get KO’d Turn 2 you either Sunny Day or switch to Torkal, and only THEN you can spore. At that point, it’s slightly less practical and much less reliable than trick room amoongus If it could just use Booster Energy, it could get a speed stat of 175 turn 1, immediately threatening the whole field.
Bruh what's up with dog trailblaze setpost lately. First rillaboom, then hisuian decidueye, and now this. And speed is getting lower everytime lmaooooo
There's only one way I can think of that'll trigger Protosynthesis speed with booster energy. That being Brute Bonnet being sent into Magic Room with one of it's teammates lowering it's stats (excluding speed) before it runs out. That being said, at that point, you should just use Breloom lol
it should be said that under certain circumstances, when a pokemon's highest stat is lowered, ie: lowered atk or sp atk, the next highest stat will be boosted by protosythisis. so you could potentially partingshot your own brutebonnet to instead boost it's speed stat. just something to hink about
the boost of energy booster if active from the very moment you send it so even with that property you couldn't boost his speed, but there is other ways like trailblaze to make your favorite mushroom faster.
Amoongus puts in wayyy more work overall, otherwise breloom probably would get looked at. The fact that amoongus hard counters breloom doesn’t help either. Also, brute bonnet with booster energy +speed would wind up outspeeding base 105s, 70 is quite slow in comparison
If it makes you feel better, Breloom is pretty good in early restricted formats and ones without Amoonguss because of its neat offensive toolkit to complement Spore
I’ve been feeling weird lately, at the same time liberating myself from mental shackles, feeling more confident and forward-facing which I never have and still feeling in a cage somehow. Listening to a lot of Linkin Park which resonates with me a lot but also isn’t good for the mental health of someone who has annihilated their self-preservation instincts quite a long time ago. Inbetween these moments where I’m screaming internally and feeling my skull is exploding, it feels amazing to have these videos to fall back to, finding relaxation in a time where inner peace almost doesn’t seem an option at any time of the day. Thank you so much Storm ⚡️
Booster Energy can trigger Speed on Brute Bonnet if the following conditions are met: 1) Brute Bonnet has 252 SPE EVs and 0 ATK EVs. 2) Brute Bonnet enters the field while Sun is up. 3) Brute Bonnet's attack is lowered by 1 stage, OR it's speed is increased by 1 stage. 4) Sun goes down while Brute Bonnet is still on the field. Booster energy will trigger, boosting speed since it is now it's highest stat.
Buzzwole is the same way. If you run minimum attack and defense and maximum speed, you need a negative nature and can only get one of either attack or defense below its speed
It's actually two points short, because if its Speed was the same as its Attack, Protosynthesis would still boost Attack. If a Pokemon has multiple best stats, the game prioritizes them in the order of Attack, then Defense, then Sp.Atk, then Sp.Def, and lastly Speed. Giving Brute Bonnet 125 Base Attack would be more frustrating because of this, it ties with its Speed at bare minimum Attack and funnily enough this still holds at Level 100 so you wouldn't be able to pull off fast Spore even on Smogon metas.
The fact they balanced certain mon but kept almost everything else broken, proves even more how unfinished Scarlet/Violet is. Had they given themselves the time to actually balance out the game, improve framerate, fixed bugs, etc. Gen 9 could've been so much better instead of the current mess it is. (not saying the new games aren't fun, but it could've been much better)
Breloom with base 70 speed at max 265: "Hi!" -also has mach punch, swords dance and now has access to tera ghost to block extreme speed, quick attack, fake out and mach punch. For that matter, Brute Bonnet gets sucker punch and trail blaze
I literally found out this pokemon exists yesterday from the book in the school library in Scarlet and was excited to see it in the wild, and then I get it spoiled right in my face the next day 😭
But they know that you can doodle grafaiai next to toedscruel. Pretty sure they’re found in the same area too so we do get a lil “wink wink, nudge nudge” still
I swear, gamefreak has 1 unique person create 1 pokemon each, and sometimes we get this, sometimes they just asked the local hobo and he said "All in on attack and speed"
@@GravityIsFalling Have we been playing the same game. I'm a Chi yu stan and like it more than it's counterparts. But that thing was Busted with it's ability. There's a reason that thing is in Ubers with Fluttermane. Even resisting it's Fire Attacks with good Tank Stats to back it up doesn't garuntee you can deal with it. That thing is a menace and just like the other mentioned was shaping the Meta entirely around it not many mons can do it. Very few could battle against it and even less could switch into it. One wrong mistep against Chi yu basically means you have lost the game
@@GravityIsFalling And... Chi Yu can be a menace in Doubles as well. Even if both mons target it that just leaves room for it's partner to go Banana's Chi Yu doesn't have Bad Bulk is Fast and Hit's like a Freight-train even against Resists. Sure it doesn't have good moves to hit both mons at the same time but that strategy is honestly overrated. And when paired with the right partner basically can net you two kills for free. Even in a 6v6 that's at least a third of your team gone before you can react. Most people won't be expecting it and even if you predict it and have a decent counter that doesn't mean your getting off much easier. Unless you Double Protect turn one but that's a waste and how many mons run a set like that. If you attack both at the same time from turn one since VGC is so focused on Status, Support, and setting things up for later. You can just throw a wrench in their plans from turn 1 instead of playing to the other persons shenanigans. This is why VGC is so stagnant no one is willing to go against the meta and grain. Yet my meme mons back from Gen 4 to 5 got me invited to invitationals when I was younger didn't even understand EV's, IV's, Good Sets, Etc. I find if your smart and play against the Meta instead of with it your more overall likely to find success unless you constantly make bad plays. Instead of running the same cookie cutter teams everyone makes i just run whatever beats out the current threats. And that hasn't steered me wrong as mentioned by the previous accomplishment as I have had a consistent high elo in both singles and doubles on multiple tiers on Showdown.
Just use Trailblaze. I use Booster Energy Attack + Max Speed Trailblaze with Crunch and CC as the last 2 moves. Trailblaze hits deceptively hard, especially since you can boost against a sleeping opponent for multiple turns. And the other moves provide perfect coverage so that you can win, or at least cripple, every 1v1. Singles Battle Spot btw
@@andresmunoz6356 I know I know, but Brutes got the bulk to survive a hit, put them out of commission, then boost it's speed multiple times. Then just sleep and slam everything. It's a surprisingly fun strat
Very luck reliant, as all thing should be expected for bss. For real though that work just there because everyone can spam Spore with no consequences lol. But No hate, if you find success there use it
@@Gspoink I wouldn't say it's luck reliant, aside from sleep turns being a cruel mistress, but it is very matchup reliant, since it can thud vs opposing Grasses and Flyers especially, but that's why it pairs so amazingly with hazard support and/or Iron Moth. The duo are surprisingly potent. Even if Bonnet itself is walled/threatened, it can still leave an opponent asleep for easy setup/attacks from the Fire type. I was initially disappointed by how little use Trailblaze actually has outside of gimmicky Tera abuse, but Bonnet using it for 1st turn sleeping is amazing. At +2 with 180 Speed Jolly, you actually outrun Dragapult by one point, allowing for a good amount of HP and Attack to make the setup just that much more reliable
There is a way to get it to boost Speed. If a Booster Energy user, let's say Iron Hands, was sent out at the same time as an Intimidate user, the Atk stat will be lowered first, and then Booster Energy will then boost the next biggest stat, which will then be Defense. So if you lead the min Atk max Spe Brute Bonnet and the opponent leads with something like Arcanine, you will get the Speed boost.
I wanted to check if lowering the level would work. Even if Attack and Speed are tied, Attack still gets the boost. Because of this, at level 10 and 12 or higher it’s impossible for Brute Bonnet to get a speed boost. If you want to run a level 9 Brute Bonnet though 🤷🏼♂️
yeah but breloom is actually less powerfull than this thing (at least in the 6v6) because that shroom can trailblaze thus become fast af and spore everything. In Anything goes when there is no sleep clause this is a monster.
Breloom is never used over Amoongus, it’s not tanky enough and 70 base speed isn’t enough to compensate for its lack of bulk, it just gets one shot before it can move. It doesn’t even get Trailblaze to boost its speed it’s horrid
Honestly, the speed increase was pretty evil planning cause it can't booster speed and it's also fast enough to be undersped by a lot of heavy hitter in trick room, making it such an awkward speed tier it is never used
I believe protosynthesis is based on stat changes so if bonnets attack were lowered or speed were raised then trigger protosynthesis you could get a speed boost. I believe this because of an ubers game i had where my speed proto walking wake came in on stickywebs so protosynthesis boosted spa over speed. Unless showdown has it wrong which has happened in the past may be worth testing
