Recipe for Polish Buckwheat Groats
Ingredients:
200 grams of buckwheat
2 tomatoes
3 carrots
1 onion
Sunflower oil
70 grams of tomato paste
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of pepper
400 ml of water
Instructions:
Prepare the vegetables: peel and finely dice the onion, peel and dice the tomatoes and carrots into small cubes.
Heat sunflower oil in a deep pan. Add the diced onions and sauté for about 1 minute until they become translucent.
Add the diced carrots and sauté for another 5 minutes until they become slightly tender.
Add the tomato cubes to the pan, close the lid, and steam the vegetables for 3 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper. Then add the tomato paste and buckwheat, sauté briefly until the buckwheat is lightly browned.
Pour water into the pan, bring it to a brief boil, and then reduce the heat to a minimum. Cover the pan with a lid and let the mixture simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Check if the buckwheat has absorbed the liquid and the consistency of the groats is satisfactory.
The Polish buckwheat groats can be served as a side dish or a vegetarian main course. Enjoy your meal!
