Budget Honda TRX70 FourTrax Quad Rebuild Pt.4 Rust Treatment. This is a realistic budget friendly DIY restoration project that you can do affordably with professional results in your garage or home workshop. My goal is to end up with a new looking and riding quad for less than half the price of new. Rust and oxidation are always a huge concern with projects this age and removing rust is often difficult. Sandblasting and powder coating are not always possible or budget friendly. In this episode I'm going to show you realistic, real world ways of combating and neutralizing rust for a professional and durable finish. In this episode we finish completely dissembling the 1986 Honda TRX70 and then start scrubbing everything down with red scotch brite. After that we apply a rust remover gel, cover everything for 90 minutes then we apply a rust converter spray then scrub everything again with red scotch brite in preparation for primer and paint.
If you are thinking about picking up a project motorcycle or a quad 4 wheeler or 3 wheeler to restore, I think you will find this series very valuable.

Love your philosophy on doing these projects . Spending large amounts of time and money does not seem justified for most people. I ask myself this throughout the process of a project like this,: How far should I go? Losing interest can happen too. I once heard ; spending an hour a day on the project can help keep the momentum going. Removing the engine is no big deal on these, really enjoying this series ! 👍

Thanks man! I've been through all of those stages...burned out and going too deep. I've learned to try and not bite off too much. And if I do, I take super good notes and photos. It helps take away a lot of frustration when your reassembling but most of all I try to keep things in perspective and have fun. I like your hour a day suggestion!

On the right side close to the backbone near the rear wheel. It's stamped into the frame near the manufacturer sticker.
