Nadine, were you born clever or did you practice? Working in hostels for free board is definitely something most people would not have thought of. Your dedication to budget travel is awesome. How about a video of the times things did not work out well, like food poisoning, delhi belly, missed connections that cost you money, or being inadvertently ripped off, perhaps with a humourous twist. With all your travel experience, some things must have gone wrong, so it could make a really interesting video.

I don't think you can put car insurance on hold, nor electricity or water, at least not in the UK anyway. I stayed in share houses and went to the supermarket and made my own food except lunch to save money when I was in Japan for 2 months
I would have never thought of working for a hostel in exchange for accommodation/and or food/money, that's brilliant!! I do this a lot with music festivals. Lots of music festivals now have volunteer programs where if you work for a few hours you can attend the festival for free. I'm all about saving that $$$$ esp. being on a college budget. Thank for the video!

great advice... i think that people should practice a lot of these tips while they are planning their trip. buying local, food carts, hiking, free museums... most urban areas feature all of this. if u practice close to home, then it wont be much of a shock overseas. just buying from a street cart locally can be a bit of a shock, lol.. better get that uneasiness out of the way close to home!
Accommodation isn't too much of a problem because I'm going to stay with family majority of the time. But I loved all of these tips!! They're so useful and I can't wait to try them out. Fingers crossed I'm decent at bargaining. I have a little practice... Ps you're so cute!
With bartering, try to bargain with the exchange rate in mind. This helped me when I went souvenir shopping in Honduras, coming from El Salvador just for the day. At the time, the Lempira was 24 to the American dollar so I asked if they could lower the exchange value to 20 to the dollar instead for an item that was 480 Lempira ($20 USD) because I was already buying a lot from that vendor and wanted to spend an even $100 USD only. We brought it down to $16, I handed over my $100 and saved the change to return to the country the next day to visit tourist spots (it's $3 USD each time to enter into Honduras on land through customs, they give you a ticket you have to show guards with the correct dates you mean to come back when you return)
You should do a video on Hostels! Like tips and stuff for picking one and for staying there! I'm still a little uneasy with the concept and would like a more explained opinion on them! :) Love your videos

I would not recommend putting a hold on your car insurance. But I would recommend to try and get insurance that is cheap but will cover your car that may get broken into or gets stolen. Cause you won't be cover if it does.
i wish i was better at saving money whilst abroad. i really wanted to go out on this boat to watch a famous sunset and see dolphins but didnt as i spent a bit to much money in the first few days :(
