These guides are all really helpful, I'm moving to Thailand on the 19th September as I managed to grab a 6 month internship with elephant conservative! Your videos are helping to prepare me for what to expect and how to go about living with peace of mind, so thanks Nadine :)

I've rented apartments, couchsurfed, stayed at hotels, and hostels, and hostels are definitely the best option -- especially if you're a solo traveler. You meet so many amazing people and they always have something going on (pub crawls, walking tours, discounts on tours/events)

I have only done a hostel once in Amsterdam, where I was in a room for 10, but it was excellent and really cheap, and I would not hesitate to do it again. I have done B&B several times but the best one was a farmhouse. The hosts were rabid DIYers, and it was kind of arts and crafty. The sheets on the bed were very expensive high quality, but so old they had patches sewn into them. What I am trying to say is just do it, and you will be amazed by the experiences you have.

I always stay in 3 star hotels. I'm very introvert and prefer my own space, so I could never share in hostels. B&Bs are pretty ok too since you get a private room

Sale their hotel rooms on the last minutes is an economics price strategy, called revenue maximisation. Because they prefer something rather than nothing. Haha, I really really enjoy your video!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Great suggestions for Accommodations Nadine. I've stayed in hotel rooms, B&B's and rented apartments but I haven't tried the other options you've pointed out.

a lot depends on how many people you are traveling with. If you're on your own Couch Surfing and staying in a hostel dorm is best so you don't get lonely. Dorms are also great if you have a big group because you can get the whole dorm of cheap beds for your group, you'll need to book in advance though. Hotels are great to catch up on sleep and you can get them cheap on last minute websites but hostels are much better for organising onward travel. Good luck guys, don't click my name.

I once stayed in a hostel dorm with 24 people. crazy, but only 7 euros per night , so totally worth it.

Quick question, do you suggest planning everything before hand and buying for example the tours of the city that you'll be at or do you suggest to just wait until you get to your destination and see what people at the hostels recommend or offer? Thanks!

So I'm just wondering, would you recommend a train trip or a road trip around Europe? My friends and I are trying to plan something, and I want to do trains because it is less work for us, until we get into the city... Any ideas?
@heynadine
@heynadine 10 лет назад
I don't like driving, so either train or a coach style roadtrip is my preference. there are ALOT of transit options available in europe!

So how do you know which hostels are party hostels and quite hostels? And, is it still economical if you get a private room in a hostel over a motel?
@heynadine
@heynadine 10 лет назад
You read the reviews. Normally you'll be able to tell, if the hostel is offering happy hours or pub crawls etc, then they are most likely a party hostel.
@don-dspid2404
@don-dspid2404 10 лет назад
Hey Nadine One more question - Is it best to use the hostel services or those listed on their own websites? I don't know if the services screen them or not.
@heynadine
@heynadine 10 лет назад
dspid2404 what do you mean? what hotel services?
@don-dspid2404
@don-dspid2404 10 лет назад
Hey Nadine I looked at a few cities and there seem to be services that book hostels for you, kind of like travel agents for hostels. Then there are individual hostels that have their own websites. Is it best to just go direct?
@coffeeandcakes1
@coffeeandcakes1 6 лет назад
Check the booking websites first to *find* the hostels and then check the websites of the hostels to see if they offer discounts, promotions etc. Then compare and choose to book where it is cheaper.

No way I'm staying in a hostel or on someone's couch. I'm too old for that shit. I want a nice clean room to catch up on sleep and room service if I need it.
