i might have notice that there are few other screenshots from the early prints that are pan and scanned while later prints shows more picture on all the sides as if the series was filmed in widescreen which it did in later seasons
Interesting. Could you also do it for season 4 and onward? Here in EU, the DVDs are in 16:9 ratio for every episode whereas it should still be in 4:3. I'm curious to see the difference.
All the seasons are done. You can see them on our Facebook Page if you don't want to wait for the next videos. They cropped almost EVERYTHING for no reason. Season 6 is the worst since there is no shot without cropping.
Oh ok I just took a look and nice work! Although, tell me if I'm wrong but, the original episodes that aired on US tv were all in 4:3, right? So the 16:9 EU DVD edition is already a cropped and zoomed edition, no? Or am I misunderstanding something?
The 16:9 EU DVD isn't cropped but fully opened on the sides. So, the 4:3 frame is centered. But yes, the 4:3 is the ONLY aspect ratio wanted by Joss and his team.

So im a little confused i through season 1 until episode 7 or 8 (don't remember ) was shoot in 16mm , and 16mm is always 4:3, then the last ones were Super 16MM (wich gives u 16:9). But i see while being cropped that there still new information on the sides. "welcome to the hellmouth" for example (00:15 , 00:16 cordelia and buffy). So it was super 16mm since the beggining?? i really through there was no extra information on the very first episodes.. Or there is BOTH negative shots 16mm and super for each episode since the beggining of the season.? i think that's the right answer maybe? Sorry for me english i do my best :)
I like the picture quality of the HD version except for the dust effect and also the widescreen is unnecessary. I wouldn't mind the HD version to be in 4:3
Yeah true. I hope Buffy gets a blu ray release soon either with professional cropping from someone who takes there time checking each shot or just stay 4:3 because I don't care about the picture aspect ratio. Pivot really tried and they did a decent job but Its still riddled with mess ups.
