giles hasn't been "faking" in previous fights; he's just been out of his league, up against supernatural monsters. ethan's just a guy.

True. He also knows Ethan quite well and is aware he's mostly all mouth and no trousers (if you catch my meaning), plus it's very heavily hinted at that this isn't the first time Ethan and Giles have had a fight.

I felt the same. He's always so nice and just so Giles and now in this episode we learned there is some dark history to him and you really don't want to mess with him.

Concerning the vampire who broke in, they weren't a real vampire, but someone who turned into one for Halloween, thus the rules didn't apply. My memory's fuzzy, but I think you see a high school dude wearing that shirt earlier when taking the kids around.

yep they were kids under a spell so dont have to be invited in. Also, Giles isn't necessarily afraid of ghosts but he was just startled out of his wits, wouldn't you be if you suddenly saw someone walk through a wall out of nowhere????

Well.. seems you learned a lesson here : never get distracted while watching this show, you'll never know when something great will popup in this show. I'll add to that rule : never eat or drink while watching this show, you'll never know when something hilarious will popup and make you spit it all out.

Rule number one though is Always have tissues handy. You won't need them every episode, but the moments come without warning.

Everybody gets to shine here. SMG proves again she can convincingly carry off a totally different personality. A.S.H. as Giles reacting to Willow walking in remains a favourite, but C.C. as Cordelia also has a brilliant moment, being all charm to Angel - she's not giving up yet.

Ah yes, checking messages during Buffy is never a good idea lol For one, people WILL get mad, but also there's just a lot going on and sometimes what doesn't seem important at the time becomes important later on. Great reaction to a great episode :)

Your face when Giles beats the crap out of Ethan is the highlight of the episode. It should have been Willow scaring Giles but you were prepared for that due to having to go back and see it. DO NOT GET DISTRACTED watching Buffy or you might miss something, you never know what!

"But when it comes to dating, I'm the Slayer." Cordy, We Love You. I too absolutely love Dru. AND, you doing impressions of Dru is absolutely fantastic! Willow in that outfit is 100% why she was one of my first celebrity crushes. Of course I also felt that way when she was wearing overalls back in season one. I believe you lot call them dungarees? I'd be mildly freaked out too if someone just walked through a wall in front of me. Also, this is why we silence our phones whilst recording. Ripper! Welcome to the Chat. "Who IS that girl???" Gotta love Oz. Giles...yup, it's kinda like that. Also, virtually every Halloween episode is amazing.

It was someone dressed as a vampire for Halloween, you can tell by the flashy gold part of his costume, so I'm guessing he doesn't have to follow the same rules.

So there's a big advancement in the series with 2x3... for a couple of reasons. 2x6 is another bump up. This is where they start layering in multiple plot threads. Possibly for the first time in the series, there are multiple burning questions in the mind of the viewer. 1. When are we going to see Spike and Drusilla again? 2. What murderous shenanigans are they going to get into? 3. Who the hell is Giles... really? 4. When are we going to see Oz again? 5. When and how are Oz and Willow going to meet? The series is steadily growing into one of the most original and involving series ever. EDITED to add. --> Very few shows were doing this kind of thing back when Buffy started. For many years now, MANY shows have been doing things like this. Buffy was a pioneer in television story-telling... along with other shows like Babylon 5, The X-Files, and Xena. The entire television landscape has been directly or indirectly influenced by these pioneering TV shows. They have influenced everything from Lost, to The Wire, to The Sopranos, to Game of Thrones.

I took a look at your patreon and noticed that you are near the end of season 3. 1. I hope you'll watch and enjoy the spinoff. 2. Fortunately, I can tell you that... probably every single season of the Buffyverse will give you something that you love. Like everyone else, I'm sure you'll like some seasons better than others... but IMO... EVERY season of the Buffyverse is well-worth watching. With every season, it's really only a matter of whether it's worth watching 3 times (your least favourite seasons)... or over and over again for the rest of your life (your favourite seasons).

It makes sense if you think about it. Tons of people out at night means a lot of targets but also that many more witnesses, which makes it tougher to get away with evil stuff and not be noticed.

Such an interesting take on things. Buffy wasn't focused on trying to kill Spike because she had all the little children to take care of. Letting him run away was the quickest way to get that done.

1. Funny thing about Cordelia mentioning she's a Slayer when it comes to dating: Charisma originally auditioned for the role of Buffy and Sarah auditioned for the role of Cordelia. 2. In case you don't know this yet, Sarah is actually a brunette. Blonde is her iconic look. If you look up pix of her when she was young, you'll see her natural hair color. Cruel Intentions is close to that hair color of hers. 3. Your reaction to Giles being surprised by Willow's ghost and knowing he's got some kind of dark past, was awesome.

Yes dakara if supernatural has taught you anything, it's that you can't trust ANYONE!! Buffy is such a badass!! She is in a 4 way tie for 2nd favorite characters out of all the shows I have watched or currently am watching. Just imagine if there was a crossover with supernatural and btvs. How awesome would that have been?

There are some great fan-fic videos on YT with Dean and Buffy. I reccomend to watch them only at the end of all the seasons of Buffy. And Jensen mentioned Buffy a couple of times in some conventions.

Charmed and Supernatural has run concurrently since 2005 with episodes of SPN and Charmed. I started with Charmed and went to Buffy and Angel. I'm such a nerd lol. Hope all's well, Dakara Jayne.

The vampire that Angel fought in Buffy's kitchen wasn't a real vampire, that's why he could enter the house without invitation. Luckily Angel didn't have a stake.

the monsters stay inside on Halloween because it's too cliche...think about it, the one night everyone dresses up like them...would you want to go out on that night if you were a vampire or demon. it's like irony 101. Drusilla is crazy but she also senses the future, so often things she says come true "everything is changing, inside to outside" and then you see what happens on Halloween... Ethan worships Chaos, he creates Chaos for the sake of it.

I agree that it made no sense for Buffy not to stake Spike in this episode, and I suspect she probably did in the original script. The writers clearly just didn't want to lose him as a character, but they could have done something to make it more convincing than just have her stand there while he ran off.

Not watched episode for while but i don't think she had clear shot at.staking spike at end plus she had to look out for innocents who were there like little kids so best she could do was keep him at bay and drive him off if she had got.into full on fight to death he may have got upper hand for second and then hurt or killed the other's. Spike's killed 2.slayers so he is not an easy stake he's also very strong for vampire.

It normally mean being a bit rude but in a somewhat cute way, or a kid can be cheeky, talking back etc. If you say 'don't be cheeky' you mean don't do that but it's not a harsh comment. But you can use it in this context too, but saying what that actually means is tricky, 'quick' doesn't cover it, but I don't know what else will

Halloween was a good fun entertaining episode, but also containing some great reveals. Firstly anyone who thought Giles was this prim and proper bookworm Englishman better think again, yes he is of course this, but we are introduced to the interminable Ethan Rayne, and we first get to see Giles called 'Ripper'. Willow also has to come out of her sheepish ways and take control, we see her first outfit, and then revert to the ghost costume. Oz is gradually being introduced through his attraction to Willow. Buffy hams it up as the 'lady' from the past and it is great when she breaks free of the spell 'guess what Honey I'm home'. All in all you can see the episodes getting better and better as the Series progresses.
