I paid 175.00 for my 73 in '95, two hours later I was driving it I spent 150.00 for a front clip & and another 150.00 for the cowl hood. Drove it till 2010 when I parked it, its in storage now.
Take the parts price an multiply by 3 to include your labor. that's the real cost. We don't do it for the money. We do it because we love what we do. We all put more into our cars than we will ever be able to get back. That's why I stopped keeping records. ;-) Thanks for the video.
You did good I bet you were happy because you done it yourself that’s what I love to do it ain’t about the money it’s about doing it yourself ❤❤❤❤❤good job bro Red Winstead from the dirty south Mississippi ☠️☠️☠️😎😎😎
That was amazing! I am way over that for sure but been wrenching on mine since 1990. Thanks for how much you are helping all of use with fixing these old Nova's
Glad to see you back on the budget nova... the new owner sure will be happy with it he got a smoking deal. Like always big shout out to you from Mexico my friend
I like it- I paid $400 to pull pieces off an '80 Aspen RT. It had American Racing Vector VN47's (15" x 7" front, 15" x 10" rear), all the spoilers/body stuff, console & shifter- cut the tunnel off!, and a pair of core buckets. I've kept the wheels & console, but everything else paid for my 'buy in.' Yeah, you have to think about avenues to make the cash & save on parts!
Not bad really.. Redoing my 1970 Nova currently. Just my engine and tranny will be a few dollars over that. Its an inherited vehicle and my heart is really in it. I totally enjoy following you on your projects ! Good stuff sir !!
I'd like to give you options for brakes: why not going for Wilwood? 140-15272 brakes are 4 pistons calipers that go over a drum spindle, come with everything to get installed (bearings, calipers, rotors, stainless steel braided lines) and cost 828.99$. For 79$ more than what you spent for the front, you'd get way more. They are the anodized colored ones, the red ones (140-15272-R) are way more money, 934.83$. That what I would have put in front of this Nova. Great build!🚙
You seem to be around my age but back when i graduated in 84 If this were a 5k budget build you would have had a full blown bracket car, tubbed, big block, 4 spd ready to take on the big guys at the track, oh and painted. But now look where 5k gets you, basically nowhere in a sense. Crazy to think I lay out 8k for an old car that only cost 3k brand new. But its the journey that counts and its usually a fun journey, thats why we keep fixing. You know what they say. If it ain't broke I'm going to fix it until it is.
Cool series, it's a driver!😎 Man, to bad you were on a tight schedule or you could of saved some $$ doing a sbc 307 budget stroker. Factory rods, 350 or 305 crank, 4.0L Jeep pistons and with the factory bore you would have 328 cubic inches, one more than a 327. You should have a 350 crank laying around, check, factory rods you all ready have, check, 4.0L cast hypereutectic pistons are very inexpensive and the hyper ones have the thinner ring pack for less frictional drag. The pin size on the Jeep pistons are .003" bigger than the sbc size a minimal expense to hone when you have the pistons hung. Probably would of knocked a grand off of the build? Oh well, maybe next "budget build" you can sneak one of those in?😁 Also, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours.😎👍🎄⛄
I sent this video to Rick "The Arsonist" Bacon, formerly of Muscle Car T.v. who's getting back into T.V., Who is a personal friend of mine, and He loves the idea behind this build. He's got an offer The working name of his new show is "Unloved cars", the concept is kind of "Roadworthy Rescues" meets "Wheeler Dealer". He's going to find classic cars that are either running or not far from it and then fix what needs fixing throw a cheap but decent paint job on it, do a little bit customizing to them, take it to a Car Show/Cars and Coffee and sell it.
Hey man love your channel I got a 74 I just brought it was running great but had no ac I ut a vintage air ac unit in soon after it started over heating I put electric fans it's worked OK put still gets up to 200 can you give a brother so help
Make sure you have a good radiator. Preferably all aluminum and a 2 core. Not two small cores but two 1” cores. Make sure your electric fans are shrouded to pull as much area on radiator as the can.
Hello sir, I always watch your videos, i am from Costa Rica 🇨🇷 i do have a four door nova over here but 2 door novas are almost non existent here.. i was thinking 💭 is it possible to find another $400- $1000 shell? I feel like my 4door is already 50% of a car.. sub frame, front end, both bumpers, etc…
I just sold a decent bench. Don’t have any extras. If you’re not already, try joining/posting in some of the Facebook groups for novas. Watch out for scams. I also will use FB marketplace and set my location to larger cities near me so I get better range. Good luck.
Where are you located bossman? I've got a 70', planning on getting it together for the Run to the Sun in March! I've got a video or 2 of it on my channel, Coleman Mechanical
@@joe-hp4nk I rarely do work for other people but when I do, it’s $100/hr. As for the budget Nova I sold it for less than I spent on parts. I had offers for more but had already agreed on a price with the guy buying it.
