@@mountainviewmushrooms71 ive also found that cling wrap works better for sealing dishes than parafilm. Parafilm will crack and become brittle if there is a significant change in temperature. Cut 5-6x 1-2” rolls off a big roll of cling wrap and youll be able to wrap hundreds of dishes! Its a lot cheaper and works a hell of a lot better

They also have reusable polypropylene dishes which are much cheaper

@@geldan I heard of people scratching the ever living hell out of those with their scalpel when they go to do a transfer or agar to grain. I think glass is much better for the long run

Wow. I am so impressed by your work. Most kids your age don't have a clue! I'm starting my adventure with mushrooms in my retirement....and I have lots of time to watch all your videos!! I hope to learn everything I can...waiting for agar and petri dishes....made some transfers...only grew a couple shoebox. Mush respect.

Awesome I've been using them for last couple months, one thing i did notice is it helps to tape or wrap dish with paraphilm. Prevents the agar on each plate from drying out. Or store them in ziplock bags 👍

Noticed dryness, I think after a while 2 or 3 got contaminated. Keep them in a bag so they don't dry out after a while. I have noticed this with any Petri dish though.

This allows your specimen some are to breath while in the containers

I do use these dishes but dont drill holes. Not saying any method is wrong or right (I find that pretty annoying in this field) just the way ive been doing it. For me it does work fine as I normally want slower growth because I normally have so many dishes. I might try a couple with holes and filter patches just to see if its something that works better for me.

Yes It did and it was from a while ago, maby a little dryer that could be because the petri dishes over time don't hold moisture as well
