I’ve heard you talk about a beard grow or do you have any recommendations on white brown mine seems to get to a certain point and just slows way down looking to speed it up
For what it's worth, I use Bulldog and have been hoping someone would review it for a years now. I love this and, for me, it is the best value out there. Also, I actually love the scent and, more importantly, my wife loves it.
every time i have a question about my beard or any product that i wanna try, the teacher has the answer...is amazing the amount and the quality of content of this channel. What a great job!!, thumbs up from Colombia.
Such a genius idea for a series, Dan. I don't know that I'd ever go into a drugstore to look for these products, but it's darn nice to know they are there, and that you did the legwork for all of us if we consider that type of purchase. Huge fan of your carrier oil series, too. As a fellow educator, I'd love to be in your classroom.
I was going to say I haven't tried any companies from overseas, but I just realized I've tried bulldog beard company. I used their beard balm back in 2016 with my first real attempt at growing a beard. I really didn't care for the scent or the feel in beard, but I didn't think I had many options at the time. Then I found the trusted teacher in mid 2018 and my world was flipped upside down. The only reason I have an epic beard now is because you told me there's more out there then drugstore beard products.
For this past Christmas, my wife got me a subscription to Beard Wide. They send you samples of three oils per month, each one a different scent from a different company from a different country. It's about $20 per month which includes shipping. I just received my second shipment. I've received oils from Norway, Canada, Scottland, Sweden, Italy and France. So far, they've been pretty good. There haven't been anything too crazy. The one from Italy had Raddiccio Oil as it's primary carrier. It felt a little strange while applying, but absorbed well and definitely left my beard smooth. The scents haven't been anything too elaborate - a couple naturals, a couple citrusy and one that was a nice Sandalwood Vanilla. Regarding more "mainstream" companies, I've tried a few. Amoung them were Seven Potions, Xtend and Dapper Dan. They've all been nice in beard. I cannot remember ingredients enough offhand to speak of them. Seven Potions was their Woodland Harmony, which I really enjoy. I have three from Xtend. All of which I enjoy. My favorite from them reminds me greatly of Orange Blossoms. Being from Florida, along with some family history, I'm kind of a citrus connoisseur. The Dapper Dan I purchased merely for the container. It's a 50mL whiskey barrel. The scent is Vanilla and Tonka Bean. It's nice. I think Sam would like it if her nose agrees with mine. I get kind of a soapy Vanilla. Great information. I've never tried BullDog but it's good to know of as a safe beginner reference to give.
I`ve used Bulldog shampoo/conditioner for a couple of years now. I started using the oil and loved it. Never even looked at the ingredients so thanks for the video, I think I`ll continue to use, rather than change brands.
Howdy DanC. Thanks for talking with me the other day. Much thanks sir. I was and am happy with bulldog oil. Wasn’t pumped with the butter but I have had liked zero whipped or lotion style butters..
Thank you for that great and honest review. Living in the UK this is the first decent review I have seen of Bulldog from someone I respect. I make a lot of my own oils and butters now but after watching this review I would give this a try. Many thanks Trusted Teacher.
Awesome, that is the one beard oil that I actually use since don't have to pay an arm and a leg for shopping here in Germany, because I can buy it at the local drugstore. Funnily enough, I really like the scent but don't mainly smell the lemon but rather the green tea, especially compared to stuff like BeardBrand's spiced citrus. After I had just tried one of their samples I felt like someone pepersprayed me with a Christmas punch... Thank you for the review!
My buddy picked up some Bulldog from Meijer, I'm glad you've got a video on it, i have been a little weird about getting products from grocery or drugstores. I personally prefer the small business owners myself. But still good to know that grocery stores can have some good products in them if I need something in a pinch 😁
Bulldog is one of the first beard oils I tried when starting my beard journey a while ago and i like it because it's all natural and i actually love the scent. Although I've graduated on to Detroit Grooming company and Scotch Porter beard products this is still good stuff to me. It's not about it being what you call a drug store product......which i think sorta demeans the product a little, it's about ingredients and performance. If there were a higher price tag and it was only available online.....then I guess it would be considered top notch.
I bought this oil a little while ago. Tell me about your experience with it. Does a beard grow or not? How many packages are enough for a person like me?
Brilliant review I bought from Amazon ot was £3.33 and i think it feels nice and my wife thinks it smells nice Its not everyones taste but i like it and feels nice so far and for 2 for less than £7 im happy!
I use the bulldog beard oil and since using it my heard feels so much better and more softer and healthier thansk for the review also love the content and defo subscribing after this video 👍
I’ve been waiting for this video! Was actually going to recommend it. First beard oil I ever used when I started growing my yeard. I like it a lot and was hoping you’d support it! Good to hear and another great video!
My first purchase out of the usa beard product I must say I'm impressed and enjoy the beard oil definetly a steal if you need some reliable on budget beard oil! Litreally typed in bulldog beard oil saw dan c bearded and instantly clicked and you couldn't have said it any better thanks brother
I used bull dog beard oil it’s good product wasn’t fond of the scent put me in mind of bug repellent it is pretty good keeping the blood suckers away, their face wash is worth trying.
Awesome vid Dan. Teaching and Preaching!! Really like this series for emergency uses. I won’t be putting the on the must by list but they are on the emerg list. Enjoy your weekend, cheers!!
@dancbearded glad you did a review on this bro. I don't mind the scent but doesn't last long anyway. I am from the UK. I bought a kit at a supermarket. It was... Shampoo and conditioner, oil, balm, comb and decent trimming scissors
After watching this I tried the Beard Shampoo Conditioner and am quite impressed. See what you mean about the scent but the price etc was a no brainer. Well Done Bulldog.
I haven’t tried anything outside the US yet. I’ve had my eye on the 7 potions beard oil and wax for a while. I tend to like made in the USA products but am open to trying others. Love these reviews, keep em coming! 👍
i recommend bull dog balm with this oil also, especially if you are prone to beard druff. some oils make my skin peel over time 🤔 i think all natural ingredients is the way to go.👍
My first beard oil I ever used is "Gruff" hand made in Wales and all natural. I do like it and has a nice smell, sweet orange, mint and coconut. Jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, argan oil, coconut oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil, vitamin E oil, and essential oils.
I use it and have no complaints; only complaint would be some times I can’t find it at Walgreens; I guess they don’t have large quantities in stock; but anyway good product for me.
I tried bulldog oil today , I loved everything about it , I thought the smell was a clean ,manly with a very small citrus 🍊 the best thing is you can get it almost anywhere
There are so many good brands made here in the USA that I have never entertained trying an international brand. I’m not opposed but shipping cost usually make it cost prohibitive. Thanks for the great series, but I will be sticking with non drugstore options.
Thanks Dan for this review. I have never tried any beard product from another country. It's not that I'm against it but I like to support the local boys more. That being said I can't ever say I won't try it if I come across it.
Only one I have tried is 7 potions per your review and love it...I prefer USA made beard items but not against trying other countries and look forward to trying some in the future
I'm on a trip, remembered everything but wash and cowash. Bought bull dog Beard Shampoo & Conditioner. (2 in 1) I haven't tried it yet but i will tomorrow.
I love the name of the company. Would go great with all my Mississippi State Bulldogs gear😂😂. I definitely like this series. Never thought about buying from drug stores🧔🏻💪🏼
As a european myself, i'm trying out samples from The Bearded Man co. They have a few basic scents. Gives me more of an idea what i would like. Now i know for instance i really like Cedarwood & Sandalwood. Every other product I own is American. Soon i'm going to order from Seven Potions.
We have this at our local walmart. Have used the balm but never tired the oil. Nice to know that they are all natural as they claim. Another great video from the man with the plan. The beard plan. The bearded champ. # Trusted Teacher 🎓
I use bulldog beard oil, i love it soothed my skin from being extremely irritated from dry beard & using the wrong oil for me. Highly recommend Bulldog beard oil!
I may have to pick some up for use before heading outside for hours in the cold, dry Michigan winter. I don't want to "waste" the good stuff for running and snow shoveling.
Great video as usual! I haven’t used any oils out of Europe, but I am spending a few weeks over there in May. So I plan on looking for some products while I’m there. I’ll show ya when I get back!👊🏼
I never popped on their products as the scent was 🤭. The only European beard care products I’ve invested in are Kent 🇬🇧 Combs and Brushes which are my favorite.
Just started using this. Love it, so far. Like mid tier, to me. And the scent.. gotta be citronella. I can’t help but think it might double as a bug repellant
Hey i live in the UK and i love the Bulldog brand. Its affordable and readily available. I use everything from Bulldog facewash and scrub to beard shampoo, oil and balm and i love it. It leaves you feeling cleaning and refreshed. I agree the smell is not for everyone it is lemony but they use only natural ingredients. I would highly recommend the product. It leaves your beard soft and manageable and feels great. Cheers
Dan C Bearded anytime. Another UK based brand i would recommend is Bluebeards Revenge and their Cuban beard oil or Classic beard oil is great. Bluebeards is another brand i use but is a little more pricey than Bulldog and not as readily available
Beard oil isn't made to hydrate the skin...(4:55)Bulldog makes a terrific balm for keeping the skin under the beard & mustache hydrated and flake free.
Correct, it is made to nourish the skin. The words get used interchangeably in modern speak, but you are correct that oil does not hydrate. I normally do not say the wrong term, but you caught me here.
Another great video dan. I have seen this oil in stores but never tried it. Scent is a big part of it for me so I'll probably never try this because of the scent. I have not tried a European company yet. I have looked into seven potions and will probably try in the near future. Thanks for the help Dan.
First time beard grower only at 2 months growth found this in local Sainsbury’s for £3.50 so thought give it a go glad to hear its all natural and i like the smell thankfully
It's good to see that there is a drug store brand that is ok to use. Love this series can't wait to see some of the brand that we carry up here. I have never tried a European oil before but I am looking into a swidish oil atm.
Hi Dan, I have tried this oil, as with a lot of UK oils. You’ve hit the nail on the head with the review. Great price, Conditions the beard well but doesn’t smell great. I do feel it leave the beard feeing a bit light if that makes sense? A couple of oils you must try are ‘privateer’ by Mariner Jacks (their balms are my favourite, bit pricey but amazing) and ‘velvet wood’ by London Beard company. Two of my absolute favourites, they smell amazing but they condition and soften my beard better than any others I’ve tried. Would be cool to see what you think of them if you can get your hands on some. 😊
Proraso Beard oil from Italy was the first I ever used in my beard. I thought it was decent for the price, but have been using other products now. It is considered a drugstore brand in Italy, but the drugstores there are a little different...
Yes I have treid several european beard oils, since I live in Europe. Some I love... some I don’t like. There are so many beard oil makers out there in Europe and offcourse I didn’t try them all out yet... but always looking forward to testing out new beard oils.
Hi Dan, I know this video is an old one but I'd still like to comment, (I'm in the UK) I haven't tried Bulldog beard oil but I can highly recommend Bulldog beard shampoo, the only reason why I haven't tried Bulldog oil is because I use Arthur J Hawke oils, butters and balms, now Arthur J Hawke is a small UK business run by one man (he also owns and runs Odins beard care) if you really want to start reviewing beard products from the UK you won't find anything better than Arthur J Hawke, the quality is absolutely top class, obviously 100% natural and a great range of scents, by the way I have nothing to do with AJH, but I'd love to see what you think of AJH's quality beard care products.
Have their Beard Wash... was able to smell the oil in the store (someone had already opened a box) and did not enjoy the smell so I bought the Honest Amish next to it..many moons ago... still have the HA in case of an emergency. Ha. Thanks Dan, enjoying this series!
Thanks for this review, I'm new to growing a beard (properly, at least) so I bought the Bull Dog balm and a beard oil made by a major cosmetics company (I forget, Nivea or something) because they were cheap and available at the local supermarket and chemist. I get a different take on the scent from the original Bull Dog beard balm, it has more of a black tea leaves sort of smell to my nose but my wife doesn't particularly like it either. It's not offensive but not something you'd chase for the scent. It's good to know that the ingredients in the balm are quality and for the price it's certainly nice to have a back up if ever stuck waiting for shipping. I've got some oils and balm coming in from Melbourne Beard Oil... I'm looking forward to trying the 'craft' stuff and keeping the beard going! Thanks mate! Love your videos, you're a relaxing man to listen to.
Not sure whether you've heard of them, but there's a UK company called Captain Fawcett who aren't a drugstore brand and are a bit more pricey. They have a number of bearded celebrity signature scents, though, like John Petrucci. There's also Apothecary 87, who are a pretty decent brand as well with a cool brand image.
I have not tried any beard oils from Europe yet but seven potions is on the list of oils I want to try. Also was very surprised this got a positive review, you started says how the bottle was good quality and was only 8 bucks and I started thinking "oh man, something is going to be wrong. Hard to believe it's that cheap of a price for quality bottle and oil too", but pretty cool that it is really just quality stuff for a great price.
Great video. Dan .I agree with all you say about bull dog personally I am a seven Portions man but I did get some bull dog from the store and it works well .now the cent what can I say i can't smell nothing .but overall I would recommend it if one is not bothered about not smelling the cent overall i would give it 3 stars coz of the price .and it a great oil if one is on a budget
Great review! Yesterday I saw their products at Target, couldn't smell the oil but the balm I could. The balm smells like regular body lotion and it looks like the same consistency, you should take a look at it to see if it's worth it.
Glad you reviewed Bulldog beard oil because I've seen it in Walgreen's Pharmacy and have been tempted to buy a bottle. Nice to know it's all natural but I'm not a big fan of lemon scents (or lemon Pledge) so this one is not for me. Thanks, Dan!
Hi Dan! I'm from Europe and this was my first oil. I recommend you a Spanish brand I also like, it's called Macho, pretty good. Great job teacher, really like your videos!
I haven’t used this stuff but when I’ve seen it in store I’ve opened and smelled them and looked at them and I wasn’t impressed myself great informative video
i have bull dog shampoo.1st and only beard shampoo i bought and used in 10sih yrs of my beard life.funny that describes. shampoo sent to,dont mind as wash but would like as oil balm.i started reading ingredients now because of you.
I have tried a beard oil from Norway "HALLORMSSTAÐASKÓGUR" (named after a national forest in Norway) from the brand Fit For Vikings, its an okay forest scented oil accept for its 27 euro price.
I was given a cremo balm some time back. He told me later the smell was like detergent to him. It smells like key lime to me. I dont believe they make this one anymore. It just says styling balm but when I try to buy it now it has scents mainly trees. People perceive smells differently.
There’s a company called Grimfrost out of Sweden, they make Viking products and also have a few beard oils & combs as well as beads. I’ve used their resin & hops scent as well as their Jarl’s thistle scent. I like the Jarl’s Thistle more but the resin & hops is very nice too
I’m still a rookie in this game. But I’ve been using bull dog beard oil for a while now and I must say I love it and I love the lemony fragrance. So it’s all a win win for me. I don’t think the smell is that strong personally so for those who like lemony or citrusy fragrances and want a quality beard oil on a budget I second the recommendation.
Grew my 1st beard this year and that was what was available the time. I never knew about the beard life and I like the product. I got some stuff from amazon coming in soon. Any recommendations? Got some shampoo and conditioner in the next shipment. Love the video.
