Love the video thanks for sharing the knowledge. What do you think of hemp seed oil?
@blazingbeardproducts2845
@blazingbeardproducts2845 5 лет назад
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hemp seed oil is in my opinion, just another carrier oil, it has many of the same benefits as other oils that are rich in omega fatty acids. Many people are concerned that hemp seed oil may contain THC, but actually the seeds and oil from the seeds do not. If you see Hemp oil, without the seeds, you may want to avoid it in your beard products. I do not look for oils because they have hemp seed oil as a carrier oil, but personally I would not exclude them either.

Love the video, I’m actually taking notes on what I need so I can make my own. Love some of the brands I buy but $15-20 a pop gets old really fast. Plus I love the creativity options when it comes to scents. I have a question though. Are all essential oils created equally? By that I mean can anything labeled “essential oil” be put in beard oil/on the skin? I ask because my local Walmart has a ton of different essential oils but they’re in the candle section for diffusers. I’d hate to put something in my beard and on my skin that isn’t suppose to be there.
@blazingbeardproducts2845
@blazingbeardproducts2845 5 лет назад
Hi, I agree, after the initial expense, making your own will save you lots of money. All essential oils are not the same, you need to check the ingredients. If it only list one ingredient, the essential oil, it is probably Ok. Walmart usually has higher quality essential oils in the pharmacy area as well, by the supplements, I found that they are a couple bucks more expensive than the ones in the candle area. I bought most of mine online at camdengrey.com.

@blazingbeardproducts2845
@blazingbeardproducts2845 4 года назад
That's a great question Mike. I took a plate, made some small puddles with 1 carrier oil and then added drops of essential oils to each, writing down the ratios. When I hit on one I like, I use that ratio in my final product. If I used 4 drops of cedar, 3 drops pine, and 3 of mint, I would take that ratio of 40%, 30%, and 30% and apply it to the 30 drops/oz(5% solution). So I would get 12 drops cedar, 9 drops pine, and 9 drops of mint. You'll still waste some oil but not an ounce at a time. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

@blazingbeardproducts2845
@blazingbeardproducts2845 5 лет назад
Hi, thanks for watching. Once I decided which carrier oils I wanted based on properties, , the ratios were chosen based on trial and error. I put in less of the thicker oils like castor and argan because I did not want a heavy oil. I put in more jojoba,sweet almond, and alvocado because jojoba is closest to your body's natural oil and sweet almond and alvocado simply because I like their feel in beard (non greasy, absorbs well). I hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

What does beard oil exactly helps with does it help to grow your beard?
@blazingbeardproducts2845
@blazingbeardproducts2845 5 лет назад
Hi Swanand, Beard Oil is primarily for the skin under your beard. It keeps your skin from drying out thereby preventing flaking/dandruff. It also helps to soften the beard hair so it will be less itchy. It does not make your beard grow in fuller or faster, other than making your skin healthier which provides a more conductive environment for healthy beard growth. I hope that helps, thanks for watching.

I’ve used your measurements in my own beard oil and I’ve made 5 different ones with diff ingredients and measurements as well and all of them left my beard feeling sorta stiff or having a good hold as if I sprayed hairspray in it but it’s super soft when I rub the back of my hand. Is that normal? Thx
@blazingbeardproducts2845
@blazingbeardproducts2845 4 года назад
Hi Edward, beard oil should not make your beard feel like it's stiff. Not sure why yours would be like that. A balm might have that effect, but not an oil. I would suggest buying an oil from a quality company and see if it feels the same to you. Honest Amish Oil you can buy at Walmart for under $10. If that feels the same, then you'll know your oil is OK. If it feels different (better) then it might be the quality of your oils. Thanks for watching, I hope this helps.

Great vid and beard. I've been wanting to make my own bread oil and balm. I've quite a few Honest Amish bottles saved up myself. I passed the 20 month mark on my beard journey February 1st. Always wanted to grow a big beard, but this one was totally unplanned. Had basel cell carcinoma removed from the right side of my chin on May 31, 2017. One week we without shaving lead to two, three to present day. Glad you enjoyed the video Steve. While olive oil does have some good properties, it is an extremely greasy oil, if you use it in your blend, use it sparingly. Argan oil, while thicker than many carriers, still absorbs well without being too greasy.

Where did you source your Argan? I'm finding that many brands are fake and avoiding that is essential. I now have All of my carriers. Interesting how similar our choices are to each other. I'm using Black castor, Sunflower, Rice Bran, Coconut, Avocado and Jojoba. I have Argan, Sweet Almond, Grapeseed and Kukui nut for the butter blends. Wish I had a beard dude who lived nearby that was enthusiastic or interested in doing this with me.

Hi William, Walmart has several different brands of essential oils. If you look in the pharmacy area they carry the higher quality essential oils too. NOW, Aromatherapy, Natures Truth. Can I put equal parts of those carrier oils and essential oils?
@blazingbeardproducts2845
@blazingbeardproducts2845 5 лет назад
Hi Erwin, No, essential oils are too strong to make them equal to the amount of carrier oil. Too much essential oil can irritate your skin. The essential oil should be at most 5 % of your total mixture. There are 600 drops to an ounce, so 5% would be 30 drops of essential oil per ounce. So if you are making a 2 oz. beard balm, 60 drops of essential oils in any combination would be the most you should add. I hope that helps.

Whats the legal percentage of essential/fragrance oils allowed in beard oils?
@blazingbeardproducts2845
@blazingbeardproducts2845 5 месяцев назад
There are no legal % for US products, there are guidelines put out by the IFRA that most manufacturers follow. What the % is varies by type of fragrance. If your making beard oil for personal use, it's completely up to you. If for resale, you should request limits from the fragrance provider. Hope that helps.

Yes you can use those 3 oils, they are all good for your hair and skin, I would go light on the olive oil as it tends to be a little greasy. Castor oil is very thick, so it is personal preference how much you use. Coconut oil is very good but you'll need the fractionated or liquid form. Pure coconut hardens at room temperature and has a strong smell.
