I'm here for Jay's opinions on Jim Carrey as Dr Robotnic. The BEST line of the first movie is "OF COURSE I want a latte! I LOVE the way you make them!" He was born to play this role
@@smita568 3:15, but I agree. A lot of the times live music either sounds terrible from a sound quality standpoint by either being to loud or just being sound mixed wrong. Also I agree with the his statement artist just take creative liberties to often at concerts by changing up songs or drawing them out way to long. Also there is the ridiculous cost of tickets these days now as well
Yea Sonic looks awesome. I was already sold on it but this trailer was probably the best one shown and just makes it look better. I loved the 1st one, it was just a really fun movie. Classic Jim Carrey was easily one of the biggest highlights of the 1st one. Can't wait!
OMG! Adam, you're from the DC area? I remember 99.1 HFS too! I went to the HFSestival in 1998 when it was at RFK stadium; saw Foo Fighters, Green Day, Everclear, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Save Ferris, Harvey Danger, Fastball...it was so great. (I happen to love live music. :P) But I also remember the day I drove to work listing to HFS, and that afternoon when I turned on my car to drive home it was salsa music. It was a singularly awful day. Ha ha.
@@fedwyn I think it’s because of the airline and oil lobbies. It’s sad. My friends who travel abroad always compliment trains outside the US. I hope I live to see it. We have so much infrastructure to upgrade. 😔
@@tejida815 yeah, I think it's a 100% due those lobbies. I really hope we live to see bullet trains in the US. At least connecting the big cities and then you take slower ones for specific destinations
when i first saw the trailer for the bubble i was like whoa omg bbno$ (baby no money) actually has a song in a trailer for a movie and that blew my mind that hes got some sort of main stream attention
I love you guys! I trust your opinions because you clearly appreciate movies/tv of all kinds and give them equal assessment, from mysteries, to Marvel/DC, to animation. That's refreshing as hell! Now if we could just get Adam to like live music and musicals... 🤔
They do still do Lalapalooza, it isn't a tour anymore, just a festival weekend in Chicago. I've also been to Pointfest in St.Louis because my sister in law worked for the radio station.
Marvel's shows have done a good job of leaning into mental health themes. WandaVision is essentially about processing grief, albeit through the psyche of the most powerful entity in the cosmos. TFATWS dealt with trauma. Sam's story was about racial trauma (even touching on how it's generational w/Isaiah's story). Bucky's story was about processing trauma as the victim AND perpetrator. Loki dealt with the idea of self; reconciling what we think we are with what our true nature is. Introducing variants to the MCU was a great choice here, because who among us doesn't show different (even if incredibly subtle) aspects of ourselves to different people? Hawkeye again deals with the trauma, with regard to being a superhero. In both this show & TFATWS, the use of flashbacks as a symptom of PTSD was done well. I always cringe when I see hear a project is going to have mental health themes, & tbh I'll usually stay away from them. I've been a mental health professional for almost 30yrs & It esp. infuriates me when I see a show/movie go for spectacle rather than truth in portraying mental illness. I share with others a bit of trepidation regarding Moon Knight, but based on what the Disney+ shows have done so far, I'm hopeful that they'll do a good job with it.
I just watched the trailer for Ms Marvel that came out like 30 mins ago and then saw the notification for this and was awed that you guys saw that so fast and had time to come out with a video of it but nope! Other fun trailers instead!! Now you guys have to go back and watch the Ms Marvel trailer and do that next!!! MORE WOOOOORK AND FUUUN. Keep it up guys I love your content :)
I still subscribe to the theory that the first trailer for Sonic with the terrible character model of Sonic was released to give them an excuse to postpone the movie. They never intended on releasing the movie with that look. But the public outcry gave them an excuse to be like "oh darn, guess we'll need to spend another year fixing this!" When they were planning on taking another year to finish the thing anyway.
Here's why Sonic is working. If this was WB this movie would have Tails, Amy, Shadow, Knuckles and 3 separate villains for no good reason and Super Sonic shoved in there. This move has Tails and Knuckles and that's it for new Sonic characters
Best live show ever for me, George Thorogood, after concert at a pirate game. Walk off in the 11th, fireworks, at then thorogood and the destroyers stretch every hit out to 15-20 min. Didn’t end til about 3am.
Is there a final meta twist for The Bubble given it's April 1st release date? I'd say no if it was coming out at the cinema. A Netflix movie though...I wouldn't put it past Judd Apatow to try something. I'm sure the movie itself is real. That doesn't preclude something being done with the actors who are playing other actors doing something. Just a thought.
Love seeing you guys expanding and growing so many things! But I feel ya oof! If only we could of done this like 10 years ago when it put a 1 day exhaustion counter on for less sleep rather than 3 day 😆 yall are killing it for sure, glad yall are delegating lean into the team as always. Also great take on Moon Knight, agreed. Also of course you love Dave Matthew's Band and hate live music Adam thats just so you. Forget Thomas Coevenant you are the unbeliever Lash 😝 Though your t-shirt is as always most awesome and apropos
To answer the question about why/how Sonic is succeeding in a world where most video game movies are shit: I think it REALLY boils down to how the studio handled all of the reaction from the original design. They brought in Tyson Hesse who is the current design lead at IDW with the Sonic Comic book series, and also currently working for Sega/Sonic Team as an artist. They LISTENED to what he/the fans had to say. Like it sounds so simple and easy but it really made a world of a difference. That, and I honestly think the first movie ultimately served as like a proof of concept where it was like “okay, we’ll do a sonic movie but not go TOO lore crazy so as to not scare people away” and when it did as good S it did Sega came in and was like “okay, now it’s OUR turn to make a sonic movie”. This comment became more long winded than I intended so I hope it makes sense. Point being, people who made this movie truly care about the franchise and it shows. The end.
Awesome Trailerpalooza!!!! Thank you for being honest about your review on 'The Bubble'. I use to be a fan of these types of movies, but I strongly dislike them now.
Iron Man 3, while I don't think is overall very good, is largely about Tony Stark's PTSD and tackles that with understanding and compassion -- I think Marvel has handled mental health pretty well for a good while now
Jay, you’re a musical theater guy. Go to Elsie Fest. Lalapalooza with show toons. Lots of fan videos on RU-vid. Check it out. Usually in Central Park but last summer in Brooklyn
Its interesting that in the same way that The Incredibles are tantamount to the perfect fantastic 4 films, that the sonic franchise has come out the gate being what people have wanted to see from a flash movie, just as much as what fans have wanted from a sonic flick.adaptation.
Touching on your point with the resident evil movies, I hear they went in such a crappy direction was because of Mila J and her director husband. Apparently he makes every movie about her and the project suffers, the Monster Hunter movie as a good recent example. They are trying to revive the resident evil movies and they have done a great job with racoon city and hopefully it continues with the momentum that it started with it and staying true to the source material
Moon Knight gets his powers from Khonsu, the Egyptian god of the moon who protects people at night. Deep nerd cut, I only know a good deal about Khonsu because one of my favorite factions in Werewolf the Forsaken tabletop RPG was devoted to him, lol en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khonsu
Still a fan of the Resident Evil movies. The first 3 weren't that bad. They were pretty good. After that they got weird. I would love a movie adaptation of the the newer games. 7 &8 if done right could be amazing. Just been a long time fan of all things RE.
"Dave Matthews, one of my favorite bands..." so many questions answered. 😉😀 As far as Moon Knight goes: Been looking for an entry point into some Marvel. Even the stuff that did look intriguing to me (Wandavision & Loki), I felt like I was going to be missing so much backstory that I ended up not watching. This tho, looks like something I can watch without having already missed half of the story. Plus, being someone who's been diagnosed with mental illness, that part of the story just makes me wanna watch even more, especially if they're going to take it seriously.
I kinda giggled with Bullet Train trailer because I have a Sanrio mini backpack of Shinkansen on it. The Bubble…..not to be to be confused with Bubble which is an anime movie to be also released on Netflix at the end of April. Moon Knight just keeps looking more and more interesting….damnit, it can’t come quick enough. I am intrigued with the Chris Pine movie, it’s right up my alley. I’m going to look up the source material, too. With Sonic, I still haven’t seen the first one…….I know! And I used to play the games, I’m disappointed in myself.
Why did I have deja vu when the boys talked about a bad movie with brad pitt. Have they had that question for another actor before where they had to add it in text later? I need to shake the deja vu please remind me
The first Sonic the Hedgehog movie with the terrible CGI was a PR stunt that made the movie stand out. What better way to pull attention to movie than to give people what they know they will hate but then "fix" the character before the final release so fans think the movie makers are listening to them. The PR guys got it right. They would have never released that dumpster fire Sonic they had initially. LOL. Love the reviews guys.
