I am replacing my softer bronze bushings with the new steel ones, but a second thought came to me last night. I should just get a pair of 3/4" I.D. bearings and get rid of those stupid bushings all together. I know the steel bushings will wear the shaft down faster and need to be greased every trip to work properly. Bearings on the other hand will last the life of the blower.

Lived in the UK for 2 years and only saw snow once, in Guildford, Surrey, on the way to work. All traces were gone by morning tea. 👍

Those Oil-LIght Bronze Axle Bushings carry the weight of the machine they oval at the top and can be reused if necessary after rotating them 180°. Sintered Metallic powder metallurgy formed under great pressure in a mould. This also tightens the chains.

Excellent video and vary informative and to the point. I will add that if you oil your bushings like your supposed to do they will last for many years. I kid you not my snowblower is 27 years old this year and is a MTD and still have the original bushings and bearing cause I oil and grease mine constantly. I enjoyed the video and can't wait for more. Thanks again.

Lol. I waited long enough for you to show what held the 6203 bearing in. On no trigger models the shaft end is threaded for a retaining washer.

Very well done and informative video especially the gear ratio explanation on why the bronze bushings wear so quickly. Another video that allows the DIYers to repair their own equipment specific to this repair, as always your videos are helping many out there save a lot of money by doing it themselves instead of paying a shop to do the repairs. Early comments already substantiate this position.

I have that exact machine with those two differential triggers, only it is a Craftsman. Now I understand now I understand how the differentials work. I may gave to do that bushing replacement job some day. It would be worth it. Those machines are the easiest to maneuver hands down. Thanks for the great video!

Thanks for watching, and yes I do agree these machines work the best for maneuverability. Some say Ariens easy steer is better, but I disagree.

Another fine video showing detailed explanations in the tricks of the trade. The sky is really a pro. Thanks for a great video. But before I go I have to confess that I really do not like the design of this machine at all. Chains and sprockets throw lubricant And a gear drive system Is a far superior design. Also you may not be aware That m t d was sold to stanley Black and decker earlier their year in 2023. I am hoping that the new management and engineers improve the design of these snow throwers so that they are more maintenance free and have better quality parts and paint systems. I guess time will tell.

Awesome video Jake! Spot on and very informative! Oh man, those thrust washers, I've had nightmares concerning those things always falling out. They are very tough to keep in place when reassembling but your trick by using grease to help out will come in handy, thanks. P. S. - I couldn't keep my hands off those cool gloves you got there 🤣🤣🤣😎👍
@waynestefinashen239
@waynestefinashen239 Год назад
I believe those are gloves we ordered from Stens at a very reasonable price. Rarely do i wear gloves that is why you see me with grease stained fingers on the live streams. Takes forever to wear the skin down to eliminate all the cracks and grease. Its just a matter of wearing them but you know i just get going and rarely put them on.

I was given a 94 mtd. Needed the rubber wheel. I'm on my 2nd aftermarket replacement. I did find some play in the mounting plate of the big drive wheel. Thinking sideways move of it might affect rubber wear I shimmed the cross rod. Time will tell.
@EliminatorPerformance
@EliminatorPerformance Год назад
Could be, I always try to shim axles when I can to limit play. I think I have an older video where I shimmed up an Ariens and it was a huge difference before and after. I believe the issue on this one was, because of the wear on that bushing, the right side actually seized up, which prevented the friction disc from turning. However, the friction plate kept spinning due to the engine still running, so it smoked one side of the rubber disc lol 1st time I've seen that. Usually they have similar wear around the outside.

Very similar, but this is a 2001 MTD so any Craftsman, Cub Cadet, Yardworks around that year will be similar.

Roller bearing is much better than bushing ref Yanmar snnowblower
@waynestefinashen239
@waynestefinashen239 Год назад
100% correct that bearings are better than bushings but as usual manufacturers can save millions of $ by using a cheaper part. Small engine equipment normally come down to failure of the 10 cent piece being the problem and it being backordered eh?
